It is said that if you spell my name wrong,a ghost will haunt you for the rest of your life
Your notion that individual soldiers carried their rations on them is idiotic and ignorant. Armies had with them wagon trains for carrying and moving provisions. In several battles in history there are accounts of the enemy making moves to attack the support camp with the provisions, other materials and support followers in order to cripple their ability to continue the campaign.
You have no knowledge of historical facts yet you come here commenting like a smart ass.

Flaming me doesn't make your point better. Indeed one of us behaves idiotic and ignorant, but it is not me.
Everyone knows there were supply wagons in use. But also eveyone knows that armies lived of what they could plunder. Constant battles meant less time for plundering/supplying. Constant battles also meant injuries, even more disease, hunger and thirst. It is absolutely not reasonable that armies don't suffer attrition during battles in EU3. In fact, attrition should be much higher during battle, than out of battle.
I must admit, in all my games I rarely felt that the difference between longbowmen and men-at-arms is signifcant. At this point of the game, random die luck trumps all, anyway. Although I hadn't much time to try the new beta, so maybe something significantly was changed there.
Anyway, I usually go for morale oriented units whenever my MP pool allows it.

Well safferli, i wonder, how do you think which is better, m@a or longbow?
Also anyway i think that galloglaigh is quite bad, and reformed, is like no improvement. Actualy from my point of view, it is best to keep longbow, until LT 13, and then change to condotta.
Galloglaith has very good offensive stats, and I would recommend to pick them over longbows.
A thing I always wondered: Does the selected unit affect fort garrisons?
Well thats a good question. Maybe safferli knows.
But galloglaigh got only 2 offensive dots. Their strength if offensive morale, which makes them deal more morale damage, but are more vulernable to enemy attack, so they actualy lose in shock with longbowmen. Also it make it very vulernable for cavalry attacks, as it only got morale offense high(while their defense is same as archers). So in my opinion, archers are better. And if you can use good cavalry, (IE. you are castille) or you fight country who have such, i think it is better to use archers(to not get wiped out due cavalry attack).
