War may be closer than we think! It will be interesting to see the Comintern Pact (USSR, American People's Republic, People's Republic of Yugoslavia and the Spanish Republic) fight against the various Kingdom's and bourgeois dictatorships of Europe.

An excellent plan, Georgia has lots of oil and Albania is a great port to the Mediterranean. Finland, Ingria, Wielpolskie, Kazakhstan and Primorye are still to be liberated. Meaning lots of action.

Next part should be coming tomorrow, where we will be seeing more crazy Soviet adventures, including the first war with a great power.

Has the great war already happened or was the war in the beginning of scripted for this AAR?

There has already been a great war between Russia and Germany (plus co-belligerents), where I lost a lot of my Empire. Losing my Empire was where the whole idea of this AAR came from, so it was rather spontaneous.

The history of communism is 100% accurate and in no way whatsoever altered, did I ever mention the time Lenin single-handedly killed a thousand capitalist death robots?

    Chapter 3: Intervention

The Union continues to better conditions for it's endless supply of labor, with mass unemployment in many states. Unemployment subsidiaries are implemented to improve living standards for unemployed workers and their families. Mass investment into new factories is ordered, with special focus given to: steel, dye, fuel and steamer production.

Due to popular support from the people, plans for the invasion of Georgia are made, however, officials discover a massive problem. Georgia had signed an alliance with Germany after its independence from the Russian Empire, meaning any war would risk German involvement- a war the Union could not afford, however plans were continued to be made for an eventual attack.

Despite the massive risk, Comrade Lenin gambled that a preemptive mobilization of Soviet forces would make the Germans think twice about intervening. The German economy was very weak, with lots of unemployment and unstable due to socialist and communist strikes. Lenin pondered for many hours about the consequences of such a war, would the gamble pay off? Would Germany let Georgia go?

Soviet mobilization nearly sparks an international crisis, but succeeds in causing Germany to back down.

Shortly after the declaration of war, the Georgian Army assaults the city of Luhansk, but is repulsed by a Soviet counter-attack.

With unemployment reaching critical levels, a new 6 Year economic plan is adopted by Lenin. New factories would gain 1 year of subsidization from the state, new factories producing critical goods would be constantly built and expanded until supply reaches demand and factories must meet new expansion deadlines or face consequences. Eventually, the plan manages to relieve unemployment.

On the 27th of October 1916, Franco-Scandinavian forces nearly fully occupy the People's Republic of Albania, recently formed in a communist revolution. France and Scandinavia, intervene, hoping to restore the previous government and for Albania to pay some its debts, which the communists declared invalid when they took power.

The military leadership sense a chance to prove Soviet forces against a modern army and to flex Soviet muscle against another great power- a true sign of the Union's new power. If the Union can defeat France, then surely it will have a chance against Germany...

On the 8th of October, the Soviet Union offers France and Scandinavia an ultimatum to cease hostilities against Albania. The Ultimatum is refused, thus war is declared.

Meanwhile, on the Georgian front, a large battle is fought close to the Georgian capital. The Red Army continues to march on Tbilisi, hoping to force a quick surrender so more forces can be diverted to more vital fronts.

The mighty allies of the workers Yugoslavia and Greece, offer their help in defeating the evil imperialists. Mother Russia gladly accepts the help of her Greek and Slav comrades. Massive military parades are held in Belgrade and Athens, with mothers, wives, girlfriends and sisters saying farewell to the men of their nations. The morale and unity of all communists runs high, with men of all nations fighting against their common foe.

A French army is defeated in Southern Albania. The French retreat to an occupied port, but are quickly chased down by Albanian partisans and the Soviet Army.

A battle against the Scandinavian Army in Northern Albania proves the courage and determination of the Red Army to rid the world of these detestable nations.

Wow, I go away for one week and you're already halfway through another AAR.
Will you be attempting to retake Finland and Kola from Scandinavia in the next Great War?

    Chapter 3: Intervention Part 2

An attack into Finland is devised, in hopes of freeing Finland from the Scandinavians, with a large forces attacking Viipuri.

However, thick mud and forest conditions halt the advance, as the thick woods are perfect cover for enemy snipers and machine guns, allowing them to mow down large columns of infantry.

The forces of the vile attackers are driven into the sea at Ulcinj, with most of Albania now liberated from Franco-Scandinavian forces.

However, in the North, a Soviet army attempting to halt the Scandinavian incursion into Northern Russia is pushed back after a valiant defense, with excellent use of terrain and abandoned fortifications , but numbers were against them.

Another invasion force is repulsed in Northern Albania, with Scandinavian forces retreating into Yugoslavia.

On the 1st of January, a large Scandinavian army assaults the city of Leningrad. The garrison of 20,000 is charged with defending the city in time for further reinforcements to arrive. With the help of the engineering brigade, which was smuggled into the Leningrad, the city morphs into an entrenched battleground of barbed wire, machine guns, mines and bunkers, with rubble and debris littering the streets, from constant Scandinavian bombardment with new Krupp artillery pieces, recently purchased from Germany- Russia's traditional enemy. The Scandinavian forces assault the city from multiple directions, squeezing the Soviet troops into a small pocket, with barely enough supplies to last another week. Despite massive casualties, the garrison holds out until General Badanov arrives with a force of 180,000 men, and manage to break out of the pocket and re-supply the men. Even with reinforcements, the fight wasn't over. The Scandinavians now controlled 70% of the city, and had managed to entrench with similar fortifications to the Soviets. On the 23rd of January, General Badanov ordered a general attack on all Scandinavian positions in Leningrad with the goal of retaking the entire city. Heavy fighting continued with Soviet forces pushing Scandinavian forces further and further back, but not before taking horrific casualties- nearly 20,000 in a single day. By the 4th of February, Scandinavian forces had all been pushed out of Leningrad, with tiny pockets of resistance still remaining. The Red Army had suffered around 60,000 casualties, it's biggest defeat in it's short history. But despite the losses, they had succeeded in liberating Leningrad and had inflicted irreplaceable losses on the Scandinavian forces, which had a much smaller supply of manpower.

Another Scandinavian force attacks Novgorod, as a desperate attempt to force the Union to offer a quick peace. Their forces are repulsed, and Scandinavian chances of victory appear smaller and smaller by the day.

At a military review in Moscow, especially assessing the Battle of Leningrad, Red Army High Command decided one of the major reasons of large casualties was lack of low level leadership in the army, especially officers. Thus, an initiative of recruiting officers into the Army is placed in Borodino. The initiative is a major success, with the quality of ground troops increasing.

Troops from the Scandinavian Army, after being scattered after the Battle of Leningrad, are hunted deep within Russia, cut off from supplies.

Apparently the Nordics didn't learn their lesson the last time they attacked the Union. General Badanov teaches them a lesson once again.

A French fleet shells Leningrad, but only minor damage is inflicted on a few buildings.

Once more, Scandinavia is defeated in a series of battles, putting an end to their army as an effective offensive fighting force.

I have no idea, I haven't played that far ahead yet. I wish there was a decision to rename St. Petersburg to Leningrad though!

Awesome! Once Eastern Europe is in check, you should check the Far Eastern front. Maybe an independent communist Manchuria could be of use. Maybe Bukhara can be tricked into the union. How's your infamy anyways? Must be pretty damn high

Eastern Europe has been brought back in to line, with the exception of Finland and Wielkopolskie, so the Far East will be one of the next targets. I think Bukhara has some nice oil which will be perfect for my industry and Manchuria will also have some resources better spent furthering our cause! Of course, we should strike before China can civilize.

If you're turning your attention eastward, try to take Manchuria, Mongolia, and Xinjiang (if you can). They're sparsely populated and could easily become Soviet.

    Chapter 4: An Asian Foray

"A true victory for the Union was been accomplished on this day; the unity of communism has been proved as men of all nations fought with us to destroy the imperialist incursion into our ally Albania. Together we are strong, the Age of the Worker- a new dawn in Europe- has begun, with the Soviet Union at it's forefront. For generations to come, our children will remember our triumph! The beginning of the end of the oppression of the workers of Europe has begun, but many fight lay ahead..."

Lenin's speech in a beleaguered Leningrad, after the Treaty of Vlore, signed between France, Scandinavia and the Soviet Union (plus it's allies).

The Georgian campaign draws to a close. Now referred to as the 'Forgotten War', since it was overshadowed by the war with France and Scandinavia. The result of the war is the complete annexation of Georgia, with the Union gaining many rich oilfields in Azerbaijan.

With the conclusion of the Georgian War, troops from Georgia advance on Bukhara, surrounding the Central Asian khanate. Shortly after the troops are in position, the Union declares war on the state. Soviet troops storm rapidly across the country, meeting little resistance, mainly from hideously outdated cavalry.

The 1st Soviet Tank Brigade is created in Vyazma, as part of a modernization of the Red Army. The frightening power of the new brigade is put to test in a series of experiments, designed to test the capabilities of the new brigade of tanks, a first of it's kind. The experiment is a major success, when the tank brigade literally levels a mock city, designed to represent the German city Königsberg. After the test, many more tanks are ordered.

More reports from Germany leak into Poland. The reports show the expansion of the armed forces of Germany, in response to the massive improvement of the Red Army, which was thought of in 1910 as a third rate force. An arms race begins, with the two countries in direct competition to build the most powerful army Europe has ever seen.

Following a speedy occupation, Bukhara returns to the paradise of the workers. New oil fields are exploited in virgin territory, leading to an oil boom in the poor region, with new oil refineries being erected every month, supplying a vast amount of fuel to the tanks of the Union.

Following negotiations with the government of Manchuria, it is decided Primorye must be returned to us, with the threat of war used as a bargaining chip. Primorye was lost following the collapse of the Russian Empire, but cities such as Vladivostok now serve as a major transport hub and naval base for Soviet forces in the Far East, along with Port Arthur.

Oil production of the Soviet Union in 1917, showing rich deposits in Galicia and Moldavia. New fields in Bukhara have recently been discovered.

Rubber production in Russian Sudan, with the price of rubber soaring through the roof, the defense of Russian Africa moves up in the priorities of the Politburo.

To counter the German build up, Soviet Military High Command orders further enlargement of the Red Army, with more than 600,000 more men joining up to fight with their comrades.

Development of infrastructure in Africa is ordered, with massive new railways linking up different areas, boosting coffee, tea and cotton production massively.

In 1918, the Soviet Union presents the World with another astonishing invention- a military grade airplane, able to scout positions, take aerial photographs and even bomb enemy fortifications, if not inaccurately. Another tremendous achievement for Soviet science and the beginning of massive revolution in how wars are fought, with new doctrines in aerial and armored warfare developed to work in unison.

In April, the Union declares war on the aging Ottoman Empire.

The Soviet Union's Balkan allies quickly come to it's aid in helping to defeat the senile, rotten Empire.
