So, I don't know if my question has already been raised (most probably), but I wonder, what is the difference between establishing a protectorate and annexing an unciv?

I know the prestige difference, but what about the province you annex, does it become civil or some such?

Thank you for awnsering, that is, if you awnser.

no difference at all, you just get more infamy for annexing.

Oh and Svalbard is norwegian?

that's not true. The difference is that with protectorate you establish a colony and for annexing it becomes a state in your country-just like any other, although you won't have the cores of course. In order to make a colony a state 1.0% of the population must be bureaucreats of your own culture.

Now, if you don't know what's the difference between a colony or a state you can look it up.

If the country is civilized, you can't establish a protectorate.
And it doesn't matter if you are an unciv or not.

As a civilized nation annexing an uncivilized nation, the only differences between the Conquest and Establish Protectorate CBs are how much infamy/prestige is gained, as well as time to justify the CB (Conquest is more prestige for more infamy, Protectorate is less of both).
