I'm playing as the duke of Rashka and Duklja (Serbia). I get some random event where a province 5 tiles away with no cultural or dynastic ties whatsoever defects to me. It belongs de jure to the Pechenegs, whom I'm not quite ready to take on (yet). Instead of holding onto the province, I decide to give it away to the Ecumenical Patriarchy to get the extra piety I need (along with a nice small relations boost with the EP) to create the Kingdom of Serbia. I get the piety I need and create my new title. A few weeks later, I get a notice saying that the excommunicated ruler of the ERE convinced the EP to excommunicate me... Really? I know the EP is a vassal of the ERE so the ERE would naturally have more influence over it, but the whole circumstances leading to the excommunication are stupid and it shouldn't have happened for several reasons:
1) I had a high positive (+50) relations with the leader of my church.
2) I had 300+ piety and several virtuous traits.
3. An excommunicated ruler shouldn't be able to convince the religious leader to excommunicate someone else.
It'd be nice if PI could address (both) issues in an upcoming patch. It shouldn't be too hard to fix. Has something similar ever happened to anyone else?
