On a serious note, I would love for this to be Rome 2 or a Dark Ages game. The former seems unlikely as commercially it wasn't a great success if I remember correctly even though the dev team were very proud of their efforts (and rightly so).

A Dark Ages game would be a brave new direction but then again, that's what PI specialises in.

Maybe they're scrapping HOI3 and moving on. Personally Ive never liked the third opus but I loved HOI2 AND AOD, so maybe theyve decided to wipe the slate clean and build what HOI3 ought to have been?

Then again they recently hinted at one more expansion for that, so maybe not.

i actually doubt it. you need at least 10000 ministers and leaders pics for a 10 year time frame in HoI games (absolute minimum - even if there is no war). collecting these takes years.

If this game is going to be about the Cold War-era and some years beyond, say from where HoI3 ends in the mid 40's and up to, say, year 2000 i will peobably scream in excitement and get rid of my friends and family, then i will probably have to quit my job and quit my current relationship for that matter, all because of the game. Clausewitz has got so much potential still in it and i love it dearly, which will most likely put this game on my wish-list regardless of what it is.

I'm holding my breath now until 2nd July. I blame PI and BL-Logic for any brain damages that may occur due to that .

I believe the main function behind those deliberately vague preannouncement threads is a gathering of information about the market.
Otherwise they wouldn't make a lot of sense - expectations get high, many dream their wish come true, and feel disappointed later.
Remember Crusader Kings 2 case before it was finally announced.

There are no battles in a cold war?
HOI2 and HOI3 are games with lots of battles.

Unless you desire a game where there is just spying, intrigue, controlling pops happiness/unhappiness...?

What is the point of a cold war game. No war? No battles? No conquering? No fun?
