Name: Albert Karl Gustav von Wettin
Age: 32
Home Town: Dresden
Political Affiliation: Independent
Bio: Albert was the illegitimate child of Carola of Vasa, Queen consort of Saxony. Albert's true lineage was suppressed to avoid scandal and King Albert, who was childless, was succeeded by his brother, George. The only reference to his noble origins was in his name; he was a member of the house of Wettin. The orphanage in which he was raised was paid a significant amount by the state not to ask questions. Thanks to this money, Albert was able to get a university education, reading German and English Literature at Humboldt University (Berlin). He joined the civil service, where his name brought him many privileges and his talents for writing brought him promotion. In 1910 he was made head of the diplomatic delegation in London, where he stayed until a seat for the Kingdom of Saxony became free in the Reichstag in 1915. He left immediately for Dresden where he won the by-election despite having no discernible policies; bearing the same surname as the King was enough to win the nomination.
