Still following and still: great presentation! Those diagrams, explanations, notes, etc. really make this one special.

As soon as the IC finished in november I started three escort carriers and 3 light cruisers. I also finished the Graf Spee to boost my cruiser practical a little.
I also have minimal training turned on.
Thanks for the reply. As for Italy I always get that the neutrality/threat ratio prevents them from joining. I have to raise threat of France to get them to join.

EDIT: I have just tried 5 times to get Italy to join the Axis in 1936 and I can't see how it happened. Can you provide a screen shot of their diplomacy to show what the highest threat is against them and their neutrality. In all 5 test games this morning the highest threat was around 4 from the UK (even with 10 spies in Yougo increasing threat since 1/1/36). Their neutrality was in the 50's.

Italy views France as its greatest threat. Increasing the threat of Yugoslavia hasn't done anything worth the leadership points since FtM's release.

I went back to a save from not long before Italy joins. Italy claims to be most afraid of Britain. I have been increasing the threat of the UK since early in 1936.

You are right that increasing yugoslavia's threat has proved useless. Hungary feels more threatened by Republican Spain than yugoslavia.

Increasing the threat of Britain is good if you want to be attacked in 1938. Britain will DoW as soon as its neutrality will allow. I was quite surprised the first time that happened. Increasing the threat of France is best to attract Italy, as it doesn't affect Britain and therefore an early war can be avoided.

Just to clarify... increasing their threat simply allows them to declare war before their neutrality drops down a lot. And peace time production laws are generally based on neutrality and/or unity. So you could, in theory, goad Britain into an early DOW even f they hadn't much time to prepare for war.

So I take it that you will build 83 or 84 IC? Just trying to clarify as I'm playing along at home trying to duplicate it. BTW biggest difference is in my trandes I have very low oil (under 1800) lower fuel (around 11K) but much higher supplies. We are pretty close on the other resources.

Finally to jsut to confirm the only forces you have in the queue are 3 CL's and 3 CVL's. Is that correct?

    Current AAR:
AMERICA Saves the World! last update: February 15, 2013 voted favorite HOI AAR in 2012 Q3 and Q4 ACAs
    Incredibly outdated AARs:

I ended up building 33.5 IC in the first run (the half IC is the one that will finisih may 6th). I will build 49.5 more in the second run.
My queue is 3 light cruisers, 3 Escort carriers and 50 IC.
And Extra IC that becomes available will be put into supplies.

Very impressive AAR. I would have been of the "Existing IC + practicals>IC builds" school for Germany meeting a 1939 war deadline, but I watch with interest. Even if you don't succeed in meeting your target, you're providing a lot of food for thought and the presentation is excellent.

I've been trying to mirror it in normal mode with a few twists (added TPT plane and TPTs for instance - will probably make some special forces also and reduce base INF numbers).

I've got 375 effective IC by September 37 (Austria Anschluss was in '37 but Italy joined in '36) and Lufwaffe and Kriegsmarine will be done by May 39 - 21 CAGs, 6 CV, 3 CVL, 18 CLs (maybe more), 12 CAS and 20 INT. Just not sure on best approach to create the land army so waiting for the next update

Your AAR is very well presented and quite fun to follow. I will use some of your "tricks" in my next run with Germany.

Amoral: why are you worried about hull penalties for your CTF's? They won't engage in surface combat.

The penalty is to positioning. At the start of the war the RN will have better doctrines than me, and more experience. A bad positioning roll could force my CTF into combat. Early, I will rely on speed, and the fact that I don't have a stacking penalty, to help me survive until my doctrines catch up a bit.

After my last post about the Kriegsmarine getting all the attention, I realized I have not done enough infantry research to allow me to proceed to mechanized infantry. I had to go back to a save in October and start those four techs on time. Trying to have mech ready to invade Poland means keeping to a specific schedule, which I bungled. The leadership will come out of officers. Which I can ill afford.

Also, because my spies in Yugoslavia do nothing, I used this as a chance to flip their mission to disrupt national unity.
