100 warscore - cannot increase it for larger peace bounty

I found myself between a rock and a hard place: a war of expansionism to the South-West against Mexico, and within days a Civil War versus the Dixies to the South-East. However, I had prepared, and split my forces evenly to maintain a safe central U.S. and eventually occupy both opponents.

What follows would have been the end to a perfect story of war and glory... 'Would have', that is, if it had resulted in the victory I had in mind. The CSA, once fully occupied and it's fleets pushed out of port into my blockade, went peacefully. But my Mexican neighbours were having none of it, and despite having a warscore of 100, completely occupying their country and having kept up the occupation for what must have been 2-3 years, they would not accept my 150-warscore peace demands.

So, with no way of increasing my warscore further, nor discouraging the Mexicans from putting down their sticks and stones, I had to forfeit the 'Add To Sphere' war goal I had added last, just to end the war.

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks that the apparent warscore cap is a very limiting factor in a large war? Was there any way I could've gotten around it, without loosing the 20 Prestige for failing that wargoal?

    Cheers in advance,
    JB

You could send peace offer, press ~, type "yesmen", wait one day for them to accept this offer and then type yesmen again.

hmmm... I know this is the game working as designed, but it does seem a little silly. Surely a complete victory in reality would cause the government of that country to agree to anything, much like what happened after the second world war in Germany - the only real "complete victory" I can think of. This should really be modelled in game by a large decrease in the war score per state. A country that has achieved a complete victory should expect to at least take over all colonial possessions and all states in which that country has a core on especially if the war is a "great" one.

I think it's just to prevent you from annexing, say, China or Russia in 2 wars.

Hmm, interesting. Though the thought of cheating does collide with my morals to an extent

Well, to be fair, the main aim of the war was to acquire the South-Western US core states that Mexico owned/colonised from begin-game, and Mexico was happy to give those up. It was only when I also pushed for their inclusion inside my sphere of influence that 'negotiations broke down'. But yes, I agree. They were utterly defeated, broken, and without a glimpse of hope. And yet they cost me 4 infamy and 20 prestige :P

I suppose that's a fair point. However, it'd be much more realistic to let the weak government give in, and then have large-scale domestic rebellion occur that shrugs off the influence of the 'Sphere-Master' or occupier, no?
