I was playing as Belgium and around 1838 i lost luxemburg for no reason i can see, i was in a war with the netherlands but i won and it was not their wargoal anyway, i did no decsion that freed them and i can not figure out why this happened, they are also i satellite of the netherlands now. Can someone please tell me what has happened

Netherlands enacted their Treaty of London decision, which means they give up their cores, gain Luxembourg as a satellite, and I think another province changes hands.

Yeah, I imagine we would have fixed it by now if it was one of ours. Just a standard 2-piece fire-reply event chain should do, unless you're feeling artful.

Perhaps in the event of pursuing an event chain to make it more fluid and exciting different options can happen like.

1. Netherlands signs the treaty, gets luxembourg, renounces cores on Belgium.(Vanilla most likely scenario)
2. Belgium forces a modified version of the treaty, retains luxemboug, and perhaps any territory gained during a war with the netherlands.(Belgium sometimes takes the state immediately next to it or perhaps should it get an overseas colony or nothing changes.)
3. France brokers the deal Flanders is given to the Netherlands while pats of Wallonia would be given to France as either full territory or a protectorate.(Based on Tallyrend Partition deal that was rejected in 1830 but if France had enough clout you could bet it'd be brought back up.) Britain and Prussia could gain what they were supposed to get in this deal so you could make a flanders based in Antwerp that is a protectorate under Britain.
4. Britain brokers a deal making the borders stay the exact situation they are meaning Belgium retains Luxembourg and Maastricht(Just the province not the whole state.), and the Netherlands loses cores on the Southern Netherlands.
5. No deal is created. This option would be the least likely but it could have two results. One thats the end of it and Belgium and the Netherlands will just fight it out till one wins or it means later on this event will fire again.

But if someone else wants to get artsy and set something up, then feel free to post it to the User Tweaks. Either that or explain how that kind of chain would work in game terms (how would one figure out who brokered the deal, for instance, or what version)-- then I might devote sometime to it.

What about the oriental crisis event chain? Isn't there a trigger where if enough of Egypt is occupied an event pops up forcing the treaty?

Perhaps you could use the same idea for this. If Belgium were to occupy the Netherlands then an event could fire with a different version of the Treaty that would remove the Netherland's cores on Belgium, leave luxumbourg as part of it and give them a colony such as Dutch Guyana or one of the Indonenesian islands.

So if I haven't failed at the coding then I think this would mean that if Belgium is at war with the Netherlands and occupies Amsterdam and the original treaty of London hasn't been used then an event for the Netherlands will pop up asking them if they want to surrender. If so Belgium get an event asking whether they;

a) accept the surrender, meaning the Netherlands looses all its cores on Flanders and Walloonia and doesn't gain anything but the end of the war, and the great powers get relations bonuses with Belgium
b) take advantage of the surrender and get the above plus a random coastal colony but with lower relations bonuses
c) refuse to accept the surrender, the war continues and France and the UK cut ties with Belgium

Well, actually it means that if the Netherlands is at war with Belgium and any nation occupies Amsterdam, Belgium wins - possibly you should just have 375 controlled by BEL as a trigger. Overall, the coding's pretty good - not optimal, but it looks like it should work, well done.

Yeah, that's not a bad place to start. Changing the trigger so that 375 is controlled either by Belgium or an ally of Belgium's ("controller = { alliance_with = BEL }") would be the ideal way to go. Also not sure you want to include the 30% national provinces occupied-- that's going to mean Belgium's going to have to occupy Indonesian provinces, and that seems unlikely.

Also suggest that, rather than having a 3-month MTTH, that you add "province_control_days = 90" to the trigger... so 3 months has to pass before the event fires. Otherwise you run the risk of an early event firing before the Netherlands even has the chance to retake the province.

Also, if Belgium demands a colonial concession I would both add some badboy (with a greater amount for refusing the treaty outright) as well as give them the entire colonial state instead of just a single province. Meanwhile, refusing the treaty outright should probably make France and Belgium end their participation in the war if they're on Belgium's side (using the end_war command).

I can make these changes, if you prefer. It's a good base to work from.

If we're going to add this "Belgium wins" scenario, I'd almost think we should update the regular "Treaty of London" event at the same time. The only way to have multiple outcomes if it's not just one country deciding which to choose from would be a situation like the Congress of Berlin-- an event to start, options for the neighboring GP's (France, Prussia, UK) to get involved and then the end result being two/three different events running on different MTTH's (with the less likely results having longer MTTH's). So that can be done, though I've no idea how plausible the Tallyrand Partition actually was or whether there were even other options on the table.

Well, I think the ultimate thrust here is when and how the Treaty of London event occurs-- right now it relies on a decision which simply requires the Netherlands to have good relations with the UK. A bit odd, considering that this means it could happen relatively quickly or not at all. So perhaps the way it comes to be could be looked at... and, at that point, it's a separate consideration whether the Conference of London could have resulted in a different treaty. The Congress of Berlin does that, though the alternate option there is perhaps more plausible. Hard to say.
