    conquering Capitals?

    Hello people,

I am kinda new with Warlock, but I like it!
I just want to ask you, who have played more than me in this game, - how do you conquer the enemies capitals? What strategy are you using for that (units+magics)?

Secondary question: once the enemy's capital is conquered but he still has the other cities - does he lose the game or the capital is moved to another city?

p.s. Maybe there were previous threads about this here, in that case just link them to me, thanks..

Make sure it's isolated first by taking any surrounding cities and destroying most units. Then start bombarding it with whatever you've got (beefy units/spells/archers/spellcasters etc.) I've only played one game so far, took enemy cities with mainly minutaurs and trolls while firing shadow bolts and arrows on them.

When someone loses their capital they immediately lose and all other cities turn neutral.

    ok, thanks.
I am playing my first game too, there is only his capital and no enemies units. It's nearly 60th turn.
my problem is that all my range units (archers etc.., even very experienced!) are quickly destroyed while trying to approach the enemy's capital - by some fireballs. This while my melee troops dies while assaulting it. It's frustrating. Maybe I am missing something?

The Capitals have a dangerous AoE attack. Its Elemental Damage for Human and Monster Capitals, and Death Magic for the Undead. Generally, this prevents low-tier units from successfully swarming capitals- as you've discovered, they get wiped out quick.

The key is having units that can handle the damage type successfully. For example, Vampires have an innately high elemental resist, as do EARTH Elementals (either found or summoned via spell). There are also level up perks that reduce elemental/death damage. There are also several spells you can cast on your units to reduce elemental damage, and one divine spell that renders units immune to death damage. The Undead, of course, are naturally immune to death attacks.

Additionally, you can use purchased perks to give your units Elemental/Death resistance. Protection Amulets give +35 to both Death and Elemental Resistance. Building a Jewelry Shop over a Gems resource tile gives you access to Protection Amulets. For a list of Perks, you can look at the wiki, here- http://warlockmota.wikia.com/wiki/Unit_Perks.

I do not conquer capitals in the beginning of the game. Leave them be, take other sites, sign peace. Later, when you have powerful units, it becomes easy. Yes, catapults are helpful too, but magisters rook too with their special attack. So, when you have like 4 catapults and 4 magisters (with upgrades and buffs), no capital will stand for longer than two turns.

To add one to what the guys above said, capitals start getting that nasty AOE attack when they hit size ten, so past then youreally only want to send in a handful of elite units to take one out.

Vampires work great for undead, and 2-3 werewolves or trolls with an elemental resistance spell on them, or a shaman healing, can destroy capitals without taking a scratch.

Not sure what works for human, but if nothing else a few dwarves + a cleric can probably blow one up easy.

    @ The Apprentice
I read that guide and the other ones from your link, so the game is more clear for me now.
