In my country, a political party is left or right wing depending on how much do they appreciate patriotism and oppose co-operation with those countries we had to fight. But in economical sense, these RW parties are mostly leftist. Strange, right?

Enjoying the show so far. Good work on the OOBs. Liberalism in America is actually opposite, and yes it is quite amusing even to some of us Americans.

I am %80 Done recording Episode 2

Already started editing Episode 2 Part 1 will report back as soon as possible. I am happy that people enjoy this!

Japan was anti-communist and anti-socialist in 1930s and 1940s, so it would be hard to call its government left-wing. Generally I think that the distinction between the left and the right is ridiculously outdated (it's mainly treated seriously only by left-/right-winged fanatics), but right-wing are not just parties/ideologies which are in favour of limited government (this is liberalism - think freedom, liberty etc. and it's often closer to the centre than the right), but also all kinds of entities which promote conservative or nationalist world-view. In reality Japan was controlled by a military clique with several competing factions which were mostly concerned with securing power for themselves.
They also hated Democracy, Republicanism and Capitalism. You definitely bring up some good points here though. Leftwing or Rightwing is simply the ruling view of the nations treasury, how it is maintained and how it is spent. Thats it. A militaristic country can be leftwing or rightwing depends only the most important aspect of the nation which is its economy and treasury. All of government is for one purpose- treasure, as the people with the treasure have the power and vice versa. And this is actually what is meant by the terms "liberal" and "conservative". Let me explain: These terms as they apply to politics comes from the middle ages, where they referred to how the treasure was maintained. If the government was in favor of an open or treasurey (liberal with the treasure) ie spending then it was "liberal" with the treasure chest. If the government on the other hand was not so into controlling the economy directly then the governing had a conservative view of the treasury ie only spending when absolutely necessary. Now this brings us to the main point. The only way in-which to build a treasury is through taxation of the governed. If a government is spending lots of money it must tax more. The only way to tax is to limit the freedoms of its own people. That would entail the peoples property, finances, etc. All governments must rely on taxes whether left / right, conservative / liberal. It is just the degree to which a gov limits its peoples freedoms that determines if it is conservative or liberal. So liberal dose not mean personal liberty as you might be saying here, but refers to spending and again to spend you must collect and to collect you must tax and to tax you must control and limit individual freedoms.

Politics is really that simple. Through incorrect and partial information political discussion has become so confusing (left/right/con/lib/rep/dem/????:blink:that people don't even want to engage in it or even bother with being involved. And that is just plain wrong. Few things in life will affect your future than politics so find out. With all the confusion I definitely can understand why people avoid the discussions and don't even have a defined belief that they can use as a guide to making political choices during voting etc. this is truly sad as most of these people are extremely intelligent down to earth people who want the best for themselves and their country, but have been discouraged by the terrible confusion. It really is that simple: All political parties are a variation on these two basic choices Liberal/Conservative. Liberal more gov and money spending either for public projects, gov healthcare, walefare, social security, and such. This is attractive to some because they like the idea of the gov doing things for them even though it comes with the lose of certain personal liberties. Conservative smaller gov basic spending such as defense, and the rest of the pop is pretty much left to their own devices ie the gov does not do as much for you but some prefer this as it also means the gov does less to you ie greater personal liberties.

I think that this is a bad thread for a discussion about politics, especially when it's not connected with Japan and simplistic definitions are used. Not that I don't like talking about politics, but seriously, I don't think that it's either time or place for that kind of discussion.

Wow, that was unexpected... Great stuff. I'm surprised that you are playing so carelessly, though. Not that I mind, as it will make the game harder for you and more enjoyable for me, as a reader, but you didn't even adjust your build priorities when the UK DOWed the Axis, your strategic bombers bombed Beijing even though you were about to conquer that province, you make attacks across the rivers even when it's not necessary, you allowed some of your divs to get mauled or encircled, your navies are on patrol missions without any real air support and you don't even have "pop up and pause" turned on for naval battles, so you only see the results, not the actual fighting (you probably don't even know what kind of ships engaged your ships). You don't pick naval battles, you engage the enemy semi-randomly. You are also using too few troops in China, I think, and your production queue is full of DDs, not troops... Are you doing this intentionally?

First off i got caught off guard. Secondly its been a long time since i played japan or a any naval nation. So it takes me 2 episodes to get used to the Fleet battles.

I am going to keep my build the same even though the UK dowed the Axis. I removed the bombers from bombing i was playing a little too fast. I attack across rivers if i can flank from the side it adds a little bonus to the attack from land (i need to move forward as fast as possible). Only one or two division got totally encircled. Some did get mauled but the Japanese soldier is Tenacious and ready to die for me the Emperor! Nippon Banzai!.

I am the superior Naval power and close to my mainland i will let the enemy come to me i will dictate the game!. I thought the CAGs are enough as support i never cover my navy with my land airbases except with Naval Bombers or Flying Boats (if they are near). I forgot that option to pause on naval engagements its been 2 years since i played a naval power so i enabled that on Episode 2 Part 4.

I know i have few troops i explained that before i am not going to move the 400.000 soldiers facing the Soviets unless i have a NAP. the 250.000 soldiers in China will push forward to the great river and hold until Reinforcements come and launch an invasion on mainland China.

I need DDs because i knew that i would loose loads of DDs and i did not only that i also need a lot of CLs now :D If we forget the fact that i loose 30 convoys every month :S The British entering the war caught me off guard i was planning on having a surplus of convoys if war breaks out now , i have a few and i need to keep producing...

Good news is i start kicking ass in the last part of Episode 2. Hitler and Mussolini are doing good as well. So lets hope i kick the British Carriers and Escort Carriers as well as the French ones out of the naval game and then i can be happy and dominant.

I'm just surprised that you seem to ignore your fleets until they do battles - they perform some random patrols and they do not support each other. It's best to micromanage them a bit more, otherwise you are basically relying on luck.

I'm ok with this, but why are you not building more troops?

You should keep in mind that in order to manage your resources efficiently, it's best to build things in batches due to the way practicals work. You will spend less ICdays on units if you first build 5 DDs, then 8 DDs, then 12 DDs etc. This allows you to put more units of different types in the production queue as well. Moreover, more of your ships will be modern, because you will build them later, when better techs are available.

I already have some in my production queue they will start building after my destroyers finish in Episode 2 Part 4. The Naval invasion of China will happen around summer 1938.

Thanks for tip of IC Days Practicals and High Tech Ships!

Great AAR, it is a great idea to make a video AAR, this way everybody can follow how you achieved everything

Yes, groovy stuff man! Love it. By the way no worries, I play different than everybody and still do well. And forget 'Historical Flavor' if you like. I've played this game for hundreds of hours and have yet to produce one plane or one point of research in air, fighters and bombers, Marines, Airborne. Why, because frankly its not necessary. I do produce a lot of BB and CL because ever game after beating the Europe bigs, the evil US must be defeated! As Italy its fairly easy, as Japan or Germany, cake. 20 transports have always been enough. Land an army near a naval base, immediately make that the US Theatre, connect all there to it, set to attack, bring back the fleet to pick up another army, same thing near another base, link them to same US theatre, do a couple more times near a couple more bases and a wave of yellow soon crosses the US. Supplies will not be an issue with a large navy patrolling the Pacific. I usually let the AI do most of the work ( I know the purists are clutching their pearls, gasping), only when they miss something, such as bybass a base they're right next to will I take direct control. However, I do make sure the AI is in a good position to do what it has to. Anyways I admire your work and its an awesome production, if I did a VAAR they'd ban me for Not Playing Properly!;) Keep up the good work hombre!

It's up to you how you play, but I think that it's good to share our experiences on the forum, because it is, well, the forum...
