What i always wanted to see in Vic2 is additions to the industyr-side, besides the changes to the military system someone mentioned earlier like partial mobilization, reserve-divisions and so on. Really liked those!

I think the factory-system along with Planned economy and Laizzes-faire needs a little twist. If i get the hang of the system correctly, If i build a factory with the states money i "give" the factory to the Capitalists and then get the profits from the factory back trough taxing the workers (poor tax), the clerks (middle tax) and the factory owners (rich tax). I came up with something i would like:

I, as the state, build the factory and then owns it and runs it without interference or ownership by Capitalists. The pay for materials and wages to the workers and clerks comes directly from the state treasury and all revenue get straight back to the treasury (except workers wages of course), totally exckluding capitalists from usin that particular factory. As the state runs the company and everything around it, i should be able to set the peiorities and subsidies like the present system if i wish, except that the factory will constantly be under subsidies as all pay and materials come from the state. This means that this particular factory will benefit from tariff-free imports as the tariff only applies to POPs (e.g Capitalists buy the resources). If i don't want the factory anymore i could privatize it by putting it up for sale, it would then turn up in the "Projects" tab where the capitalists can try to invest in the sum i want for it, i could be able to set the prize i want for it and see if any investors (capitalist POPs) are interested in buying it.

This should also work in the opposite direction. If the country is ruled by a party that has LF, State capitalism or Interventionism as the agenda the Capitalists will be able to build factories for themselves like the present system where the profits are taxed and so on, the twist here is that if a capitalist owns the factory the state can't set priorities for it or choose to subside the factory, creating a market where sometimes the state and the capitalists race eachother for the best spots and the ability to hire the most workers etc, much like a modern day mixed economy where state and private sector operates in the same country, often in the same sectors. If a factory owned by the Capitalists goes bankrupt or the POP doesn't want it anymore for some reason (bad profits, low access to craftsmen etc.) it will be put up for auction in the "Projects" tab where other capitalists can buy it by investing in it, the money going back to the "selling" capitalist POP, or perhaps with the state as the buyer, placing the factory under state control.

Okay, thats that about Interventionism and State Capitalism, how about Planned Economy and Laizzes-Faire?
This will get interesting. While both Interventionism and SC allow state and capitalist building, owning and running of industries side by side, LF and PE are two totally different worlds. If a Laizzes-Faire Government takes power by peaceful means, e.g Liberal party win the election, it will put up all the states factories for auction automatically and letting Capitalist POP's bid for them, perhaps on a reduced price basis the player can't control with the money that investors buy the factories from going back to the state, think of it like privatizations in the modern day for example.
If a LF-government comes to ruling trough revolution, e.g Anarcho-Liberals grabbing power, the factories will not be sold, they will be handed to Capitalist POP's for free without the player having the power to do anything about it! This means that a player that have invested heavily in industry for the state will dread the Anarcho-Liberals like the plague as a A-L revolution may spell total economic disaster for him. This would lower capitalist militancy greatly, as well as upsetting socialist POP's massively, possibly spawning a counter-revolution to take the industry back from the claws of the bourgeoisie?

Similarly, a transition to a planned economy by peaceful means, e.g Socialist party taking power (if the have PE as policy, that is, otherwise if they are SC, nothing happens), it means that all factories owned by Capitalist POP's may be bought by the state at greatly reduced price, upsetting Capitalist Liberals a bit and making socialists a bit more happy. However, if the red rain turns into a storm and a Communist revolution takes power, all factories are nationalized without any money going to the capitalists, giving the player (the state, that it) a ton of free companies! This will of course, make Capitalists extremely mad, spawning massive militancy among them likely starting a counter-revolution but this would likely make Socialist and Communist POP's very happy and lower their mil. To offset the risk of palyers abusing the system and getting communist rebellion just to get free companies, maintenance under state running should be higher and so on.

Ideological interventions should also be interesting. A Bourgeoisie Dictatorship Germany would instantly get some kind of ideological CB against a Communist Austria, for example, where the rich strata in Germany invades Austria to punish the communist rebels and restore the old order, perhaps also institute a BD in Austria? Similarly, a Communist France should get Casus Belli if, say, A-L revolution takes place in the UK, the Communist Franche would thereby intervene to save the workers from the teeth of the Bourgeoisie wolf, and restore a more pro-communist rule in the country? Capitalists were quite international in the day, having business connections all over Europe, they would not be happy to see their friends and business partners companies in other countries get nationalized by communist rebels and try to make their parent county intervene (unless if it's the mortal enemy country that suffers revolution...), likewise, the proletariat of the time would likely support an attack on a country that is having a successful A-L revolution to save their comrades from the capitalists.

    To round it off:
L-F should have max 50% tax for poor and mid POP's, but maximum of like, 15 - 25% for rich strata. Planned economy should have minimum of 50% tax for low and mid, like today but min of 75% for rich strata i thinks, PE and L-F are at the very extremes of this scale, representing two very distinct ideologies which in one, the state should be kept to a very bare minimum and in the other, where the state is everything. The rich strata has every interest in L-F and should push for their own agenda more heavily and make heavy taxation of them illegal and state ownership and regulations impossible in such a system. Under Planned Economy, the rich strata has no place and should generally be vieved with disgust by the poor, who would do their utmost to take their treasures and factories and give it to the workers (managed by the state, in this case).

Please discuss what you think of this idea . Can elaborate further if anyone wants.

I don't think it's very far, as It's all about adding features within the existing timeframe and tweaking the already existing mechanics of the game. To add more years is in my opinion a bit more far away as it means that 36 more years have to be researched, the map redrawn, tech tree remade, population sizes checked and events rewritten, amongst others.

But then again, we all have different tastes concerning these massive games .

I think you just hit the nail on the head, I have to agree with you in that Paradox's timelines for their games are a bit out of whack, IMO. I feel like Victoria should start with Napoleon(either his defeat or his ascension), and that Europa Universalis should be broken down into two games; that, or split off the early portion of EU to Crusader Kings(discovery of the New World onwards for EU maybe?)

As for where Victoria should end, the end of World War I(1918), although with some feature that lets the game continue past that if a Great War is currently in the process of occurring, until a year after the Great War finishes.

I'm speaking of Paradox's games as an individual series here, btw. Victoria series, Crusader Kings series, and so on, and I'm also speaking in terms of Paradox's future games, not an expansion. I'm sort of breaking what this thread was intended for

For when/if we see Paradox moving on to a new generation of EU, Victoria, HOI, and CK, I really hope that dates are adjusted to allow for a better gameplay experience. Ideally, with well-made save converters to allow for strong progression between their games. We all know us fans have been dying to see something like this in action.

    1) The Economy needs more work. I've played USA, UK, German, German Empire, Japan and every time my industries grow and all of a sudden a very large one goes bankrupt and then there are 100k+++++ (growing up to over a million) unemployed workers in one provence, then all large industries fall one by one and pretty soon......well you can guess the rest. I would suggest adding the option to devolop the commercial sector in high industrial states if the global economy is being swapped by industrial goods.

    2) Politics need work would be nice to have minority and coalition governments, cabinets. Also the polotical system is rather unrealistic in USA; Upper House selection also needs work, either we should get to choose (if there would be empty seats) who sits in an appointed UH or a real UH election fires (if UH is an elected one).

    3) More Nationalist rebellions. Especially in the Balkins (the Ottoman Empire ALWAYS keeps a tight grip on the Balkins - I've NEVER seen it lossened yet!?!; Romania is impossible to form) - Also Russia should have a CB to free Orthodox nations (and perhaps turn them in satellites?). I don't even know why the Ottomans are so powerful to begin with, they were like a stack a dominos read to fall. Italy should have extreme nationialism. Canada should have the 1837 revolt and its provinces released as satellites if UK responds favourably, a War of Independance if it doesn't, a Texas type annexation if US chooses to interfer. Texan Revolution is a total failure since AHD expansion.

    4) A 1820 starting date would be nicer....

I have read something about multi-core support having been introduced in some patch, but even at version 1.4 on a 2500k 4GHz, V2 can run pretty laggy in the later years. Some sort of performance improvement would be very welcome.

I think that comes with the newer patches that you need AHD for. You will have to get the expansion if you want better performance and more content.
    Bra där.

There should be more interesting events/decisions. The only countries that really get them are Austria, Prussia, USA, and Italian minors. The rest of the world basically just sits there and try to colonize and gobble up uncivs.

There are a few things I'd suggests:

    - All North American countries can get Manifest Destiny. Mexico, Texas, California, Canada, and etc would qualify for it if (1) they are great powers and (2) USA is not a great power

    - All (Spanish) South American nations (except Peru?) get the opportunity to unify all of (Spanish) South America if (1) they are great powers and (2) sphere/puppet all of (Spanish) South America

    - Spain should be able to annex Portugal if Portugal is a puppet

    - CSA should gain cores on all of USA if (1) it is a great power and (2) USA is not a great power

    - Sweden should get cores in the Baltic if (1) Russia owns the Baltic, (2) Sweden is a great power, (3) Russia is at war with Sweden, and (4) Sweden is winning the war heavily (50+ war score). Likewise for Prussia/NGF/Germany for Pommerania.

Agreed. The USA Manifest Destiny was more or else an ambition to control the Americas, chiefly North America, not just the area of present day USA. The Imperialistic scheme of the Manifest Destiny was a contributing cause for the Confederation in Canadia.

Spanish-American War event: The events would start in 1896 Inevitably and the Filipinos and Cubans would go on Wars of Independence, If the Cubans and Filipinos are successful enough, they can bring the U.S in by an event called the Sinking of the Maine. Then the U.S would get two choices. "It's not worth it, those poor souls". "Remember the Maine, To Hell with Spain" !

Re Vamped Rebel system: The Rebels have to be harder, not defeating their army in two seconds. If Rebels are in a War for Independence of one of your Territories you took over previously, they should be hard, or at least as hard as when you took them over, and it should say in the Wars Box, if there's a War of Independence going on if you have Rebels fighting for Independence.

Re Vamped SOI: Once the AI has them in Friendly or in Sphere, you're going to be killing yourself trying to at least get Friendly, and this is especially annoying if you're trying to unify, like Italy or Germany. The game has to give you more of a chance to get it.

It's possible to unsphere an A.I., although it takes time. The trick would be to go max influence until the A.I. is discredits you and then immediately stop. When that wears off, keep at it. If the A.I. has above 50 influence, don't do anything and simply wait for it to use that on another A.I. and then repeat.

Naval skirmishes no longer lasting three months (worst case scenario, but still common enough to be annoying).

I would like to have Rebel Generals. Now they have prestige, why not let them join movements, and rebel factions? A rebel general with lots of prestige should has a chance to convince the troops under his command to join the revolution, and other generals may join him as well despite not being rebels (with their troops too). You could have a badass warlord general, but if he's in a rebel faction, you won't want him commanding troops. With this modifications, instead of silly rebellions of one brigade you could find all your army revolting against you, so you should be careful not upsetting the officers what is historically accurate.

I would like civil wars too. If half of your country has been occupied by rebel for some time, but they haven't taken your capital, I think the country should split in two fighting nations like in EU:Rome. If the rebels are nationalist, it should be an independence war.
