CKII Ruler Messages - Real History?

Do the CKII Ruler Messages represent the real history of that time and place other than those parts relating to the player? The geography looks like the real map of that time period. Is it really the historical map?

If so, then reading the Ruler Messages is really reading a history book and one can learn a lot about that time period in Europe.

No, after you hit start real history is thrown out and a new one made. The histories from the start screen are more or less accurate (though I wouldn't use the word "correct").

the 'ruler messages' if i get your meaning are just randomized events, sometimes influenced by character traits and relationships. A lot of them are based on historical events though.

As for the map, its more or less accurate at the time you start and the histories for each character and title should be pretty accurate. You can have a look back at titles that didn't exist in 1066 for example and see most the known previous holders (italy for example)
