Ars Lingua - The Art of Language
OVERVIEW - Nationalism, as it is known today, was not a big concept in the world of 1399. Language and culture played a much bigger role. This mod attempts to model the shifts in language and writing systems that were occurring from 1399-1821. This mod is designed to be 'plug-and-play'

Please bear with me as I work out the bugs
What the mod INCLUDES:
- A list of 220+ languages - some are historical languages for use in 'historical' (to Vanilla) mods, etc
- Slots for up to 300 languages (easy add, just 'find and replace' then add a few decisions and edit a handful of events)
- National Scripts (The characters with which the languages were written - officially)
- National Tongues (The languages/dialects spoken administratively or at royal court)
- Law Language (The language/tongue that the legal system of the country uses)
- Provincial language/script (The language/tongue and writing system used by the people of each province)
- Decisions that allow countries to change their court, law and provincial tongue
- Decisions that allow countries to change their national and provincial script
- Events that setup and maintain the national and provincial modifiers
- Events (some historical, some not) that allow countries to change their court language
- A linguistic minority maintenance event.
What the mod DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- New cultures (not in vanilla)
- New provinces
- Intricate maps of languages - the mod is a simple representation at present, you can increase the complexity with a little bit of work. The mod should support that.
- Every language on the planet (That would be thousands of languages - I am NOT getting into that
)
What the mod MAY EVENTUALLY INCLUDE:
- Dynamic interplay within language groups (i.e. if you're in the Germanic group you get a bonus in relations to other nations in the same group)
- More languages - there are slots to include more.
- More events - write them up, I'd be happy to include them.
- More decisions - write them up, I'd be happy to include them.
- A more accurate depiction of the languages and scripts of 1399 - 1821 (Hey, I like to be accurate)
DISCLAIMER - I am not insulting your language or heritage, so don't accuse me of doing that. If you disagree with me please be civil and courteous - I will try to be accommodating.
