Holy Roman Emperor turns Shiite!

Couple of days ago during my game I've seen something really odd: the Holy Roman Emperor, defender of the Christianity turned Shiite by himself. This is really... strange

Although I will admit that is pretty funny stuff, wonder if he'll marry into the Caliph's dynasty and unite HRE with the Caliphate

As his son is landed, he will probably not turn Shiite unless the boy was born after the father converted.

I think when this happens the HRE should become known as the Holy Roman Caliphate

and the Kaiser should become Caliph. Even though I know Caliphs are technically descended from the Prophet but still it'd make it so much more funny seeing a Caliph in Germany

This isn't all that weird, considering how the game works. The Kaiser probably had his heir tutored by a Muslim who had ended up in the HRE court, and he converted the child to Islam. Kid grows up, isn't converted back, and then becomes Kaiser.

I agree, that the Pope granting an invasion CB would be a very likely outcome; not to mention a massive vassal rebellion against the heathen liege, who betrayed their faith.

Surprisingly none of his vassals have bad opinion about him. They seem to love their heathen Emperor
