    29.09.2012: Eurus ver.1.4 is released.

    25.06.2012: Eurus ver.1.2 for EU3 DW 5.2 patch is released.

    1. What is this Mod?


    This mod is created for the improvement of the "Rest of the world", especially Asian region. It is based on my former "Japan Mod" in which I have also changed other Asian countries from Korea to Vietnam.
    In order to avoid the confusion that "Japan" Mod should change only Japan, I gave its contents a new name. "Eurus (or Euros)" is the god of Eastern wind in the Greek mythology, one of the four Anemoi and controls autumn. This name relates with the name of the expansion "Divine Wind" and Eastern region.
    I have also changed this mod from Japan Mod. I have finished to add historical daimyo in Japan, while events and decisions are removed by now. I will rebuild them later.
    However, the most drastic changes are CanOmer's wonderful DAO Lite map and Krancovich's Malaya Mod.

    2. What is achieved in this mod?

    - Historical Japanese Daimyo between 1330-1860. This mod starts in 1399, however also supports the expansion of the time frame by other mods.
    - Historical countries in SE Asia by Malaya Mod. I haven't taken the decisions and events from that mod by now.
    - Additional provinces for East and Southeast Asia.
    - Additional countries (Revolters) for East and Southeast Asia.
    - Additional decisions, missions and events for China, Japan, Manchu and Korea.
    - Chinese factions are tweaked.
    - More historical India from Trin Tragula's India Mod.

    3. What should be achieved in future?
    In future, I will work on other Asian countries. There are a small to-do list.
    - add more flavor events, missions and decisions in these regions.
    - tweak the Shogunate system.
    - tweak the horde system.

    For this aim, I need your support and idea. Any suggestion is welcomed.

    Here I would like to explain the contents of this mod more precisely.

    Country/Region

    Japan
    I have added 54 daimyo between the 14th and 19th century. Their colors are based on the Japanese traditional colors. I have also expanded leader names to represent the variety of Japanese family names. On the other hand, I have removed the events and decisions in former Japan mod. That was my first work and I have made it too complicated. Now I am realized that simple is the best, and try to rebuild the Shogunate system.
    While the historical data in this mod is not enough to represent Sengoku Japan, I am satisfied with what I made. Except some small fixes such as population data, I won't add any more daimyo and provinces in Japan.
    Western Daimyos can support Wakou.

    Korea
    5 provinces and 4 old kingdoms are added.
    The Wakou events are tweaked in relation with Japanese clans.

    Manchu
    4 provinces are added, and Manchu is divided into 3 large tribe groups. They have a decision to unify Manchuria and become Qing dynasty.

    China
    18 Provinces are added, and there are 21 revolter countries.
    The Wakou events are tweaked in relation with Japanese clans.
    There are new decision about capital move to Beijing and the naval exploration by Emperor Yongle. The reparation of the great wall event is also tweaked.
    The balance of faction system is changed too.Here is the current setting of the modifiers of each faction.

    Sure, at least the content on Japanese islands (About Malaya Mod Krankovich has the right).
    I haven't fixed the river in China which you have suggested, but I will fix it when I change Chinese provinces.

    Now all we need is Paradox to do some more engine optimization and we can combine most mods into a single grand one and still run it at decent speed. How awesome would that be?

    It would be great, though I also love the variety of mods. MPM, MM and MEIOU have their different strong points.

    Random Idea: Chinese Faction System

    I would like to post my thoughts about game mechanics in DW here. The first one is about the faction system of Ming.

    The most users of Eu3 are not satisfied with this faction system. In my opinion, there are two reasons about their frustration.

    I. Its limitation
    In order to restrict Mings radical expansion, each faction has different limitations on players/AIs actions. However it doesn't work well. First, there are too many limitations for each faction, so the player can choose one or two direction with them. Especially, the limitation of DoW is the cause of the frustration, since EU3 is more or less a game of expansion. Forbidding active wars means almost the negation of the nature of this game.
    I love the idea of specializations with factions, however each faction should be given more free hands on their policy. The limitation of wars should be also achieved with some kind of soft cap, f.e. high maintenance costs or low morale.

    2. Its modifier
    I must say, the modifiers of the factions are not well considered. There are only three: small bonus of officials and force limit modifiers (land/naval). In addition, the both force limit modifiers have negative effects which could bore and frustrate the player. These force limit modifiers are not the best choice for the military limitation of China, since the player is forced to build and disband his army by each change of three parties.
    As above said, maintenance costs or hiring costs are better, since they can not only work as soft cap to the army size, but also limit the wealth of rich China. Morale changing is also reasonable to weaken the quality of Chinese army against the neighbors. I would suggest some positive modifiers to characterize each faction too. The trade/colonial bonus of enuchs or religious bonus for temple factions would be nice.

    Also, are you planning on doing any fixing to (at least) the coastal chinese provinces? Some of them (especially Liaodong, Shangai and the entire Hong Kong area) really need some of those single city provinces (Like Venice).

    In the time frame of vanilla, these cities were neither the most flourished ones nor given to European great powers (Hangzhou or Suzhou were richer). However I will change Chinese borders to represent them more visible. It would be certainly fun if the player could keep just these "bases" for the Asian trade instead of conquering all of China.

    Ver.1.1 is released.
    Beside tweaked Korea and Manchu from Japan Mod, I have added regional conquest missions for Japanese Daimyo which should accelerate their expansion speed.

    Here is the plan for ver.1.2
    - add China from Japan Mod
    - tweak Chinese missions and decisions with increased provinces.
    - add three unification style of Japan (Imperial Authority, Aristocrats Republic and Shogunate).

    Random Idea: Wakou (Japanese Pirates)

    Wakou (Wokou, Waegu etc.) was an international naval faction on the sea between China and Japan. They were strongly supported by the daimyo in western Japan and raiding cities and villages at the Chinese coast, however some Korean and Chinese free traders were also joining to them, since they were against the mercantilistic trade policy of Ming and Joseon.
    There are already an event chain in vanilla, and I will expand/change it a bit in this mod.

    I. The area of the Wakou activity
    Chinese sea zone (China-Korea-Japan) defined in the region.txt.

    II. Wakou Events
    Japan
    Western Daimyo are always considered to support Wakou. The pirates will bring benefits of continental trade/raids. However they will also become trouble maker for Japanese rulers, since they are half independent faction on the sea.
    If a Shogunate is established, Shogun can forbid the Wakou activity, as historically Toyotomi Hideyoshi did.

    Korea/China
    Not so different from the vanilla events. The mercantilistic/land policy increases the risk of piracy, while keeping army (about 3000-5000) on the coastal provinces reduces it drastically. If Wakou attacks a province of both countries, rulers can send a fleet against them or negotiate with them.

    If you have suggestion, please tell me. This mod is relatively small and there are many free space.
