Good Nation for a serious game??

I've always kinda screwed around in my EU3 games, but now I want a serious game. I'm playing with the mod Death & Taxes. I kinda want to know what nations are good to play for a first time serious game.

If you're curious as to why I've never played an actual serious game of EU3 yet is because I usually played Victoria 2 or Crusader Kings 2.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a serious game, but some good choices are Brandenburg, Ottomans, Muscowy, England, or Castille.
    I should go.

    If youre playing with D&T...

Play Ottomans, Poland or play Song/Ming in China.
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified.

I'm playing D&T at the moment (albeit an old version) and I started with Naples. I don't know the mod all that well, but this game has been great fun for what it's worth. Never a dull moment as the Catholic DotF HR Emperor in Italy with Protestant France on your NW border.

Byzantium -> Roman Empire is a fun D&T game though my favorite is Poland -> Jagiellon. I'd also recommend Teutonic Order -> Prussia -> HRE/Germany.

England is a good beginner game, but I'd recommend starting at a later date if you don't want to mess around with France and all that Hundred Years' War business.

Currently doing a Venice game where I try to make a Mare Nostrum.
Only thing is I'm not sure if I'll form Italy or culture shift and restore Byzantine rule.
Either way, I'll stay a Merchant Republic for as long as possible.
