Do you use the second version of 1.08 beta 3 ?
It had some crash fixes.

yes, i already got B3/second exe - otherwise I wouldn't have made it into '40...had crashes in 01/'36 before the changes

In the hotfix of 11-05-2012 only the exe has been changed, so the checksum was not changed. If you use the version prior 11.05 then you have an old exe. Replace only the exe or the re-apply the entire patch from the Beta 3 thread and report if CTD still happens.

so it should be the fixed one

Crashes here as well playing JAP - last I saw in the message log was a diplomatic deal between GER and JAP. It did not crash when loading up as GER.
Savegame did not crash with 1.07 (after removing two 1.08-only command lines) playing JAP.

I don't get the crash with the save you provided. Do you have any console commands active? What is your operating system and DX version?

that's interesting - I got the crash 10 out of 10

100% reproducible here playing as JAP, can't replicate crash with other majors.
Win7 x64 Prof
