Warlock: Master of the Arcane reviews and previews

We're so happy about all the positive feedback we've been recieving for Warlock: Master of the Arcane. Here is a summary of reviews and previews The list will be updated as reviews comes up.

    Reviews

    GroovyGamer - 5/5
“Warlock: Master of the Arcane is engrossing, challenging, exciting, and one of my favorite games of this year.”
    http://groovygamer.net/2012/05/warlo...ane-review-pc/

    Rock Paper Shotgun
”In the end, its single-minded focus on conflict is a strength, provided it isn’t too much of a barrier for your personal enjoyment, allowing for a streamlined and strangely effortless game of conquering and conjuring. ”
"…a more interesting proposition than Civ with goblins."

    RTS Guru - Score: 9/10

“In conclusion, Warlock: Master of the Arcane is a quite fun return to the fantasy themed 4X game space that hasn’t really been touched for some time now. It doesn’t bring a lot of revolution or evolution to the table, but it does what it does very well. If you’re a strategy gamer, you’ll feel very at home here. For only $20, you can hardly beat the amount of fun you’ll get at that price point.”

It makes for a great introduction to the turn-based strategy genre and it provides a fun, interesting backdrop for it. I can safely recommend it to anyone who has even the slightest bit of interest in the strategy genre and encourage people who are even a little on the fence about this game to at least try it out, you may find yourself pleasantly surprised.”

This is the feedback I expected. The game is simply awesome. Sure there are some flaws, but Warlock has it were it really counts, being fun.

I just hope as far as continuous support and development, be it patching and DLC and maybe a future full on expansion or sequel after all that is something they are thinking of doing.

Freaking awesome! I didn't even know they featured it on their website, LOL. I'm saddened that they thought the 67 shown (at the time) beside the review title was the score I gave the game, though, when it really wasn't. I actually didn't give the game a score at all, but if I did I can guarantee you it would be far above that. I'd give it 80/100 at least.

EDIT: Due to the confusion caused by the number beside my article name (which is actually something I have no control over and is related to the site I use), I've added a "Final Score" to the bottom of the review. My final score for the game is 9 out of 10.

What I don't understand is why many of the so called reviewers compare it to the Civilization. I cannot believe there have people who call themselves "reviewers" and don't ever know about Master of Magic (it is not a big secret the game is just not the best possible remake of Master of Magic).

http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/kil...e-227181.phtml - My review. It's just a blog post, but some have found it useful. No scoring, but I do like the game. I just don't like assigning numbers to quality.

Finished my review today at One Guy, Too Many Games

    Version Reviewed: 1.1.3.27
What I like: Unit perks and leveling, numerous special resources and spells, combat, multiple races.
Not So Much: City management a little too streamlined, some minor UI quirks, a bit easy, end game slog.
Other stuff you may like: Multiplayer in future patch?
    The Verdict: B : Good

My guess is that most people haven't played Master of Magic in over 10 years! To use a game for comparison you have to actually remember it. I know that I've played it, but I couldn't really tell you anything about it. Not to mention that Warlock looks very much like Civ 5.

I loved MOM when it was current, but the game had severe stability problems.
