    Nations Not Used

So I was exploring the countries.txt file in the common folder and I found some interesting nations that were, for lack of a better word, erased, such as Essex, Toledo, Highlands (a quite interesting one to me) and even some weird ones like Jambi and Bima. I was just wondering why they were removed. In the text file they were in a section title "countries removed for now." Is there any plan for when and if they would be brought back?

    Thanks
I would rather be called an American than a United States Citizen.

They were considered a waste of a tag. Each additional country stored in the game, whether they were active in your current game or not, ate into valuable resources so many of them were cut out. They are fairly easy to add back in if you like.

The Highlands, Fife, Wessex etc were in the 5.0 version and I enjoyed releasing them but in the end, they were nothing special, just "light" versions of England or Scotland and such.

I believe the thinking behind the natives were that they were tribal beyond being considered "nations" as such, but I reserve the right to be wrong about that.

For the sake of spicing things up, how would one go about re-adding the American Indian nations? And i agree with your statement with the exception of the later charokees

I've really thought about adding in North American natives as well. There was enough confrontation between colonisers and the major tribes to be worth their inclusion I feel. Also some tribes were extensively used as allies and to an extend proxies in wars between the French and British. The only thing which has put me off is they would need to be quite a bit of work done. I don't feel like they would work the same way as normal nations, they may need chains along the lines of the establish trading posts as a way to model the interaction. I also am not sure what effect they would have on colonising. It would be a bit pointless if they got eaten in their entirety as soon as the Europeans arrive, but then again they shouldn't really be able to challenge their armies.

When I was going to put them into my own copy, this is the map I was going to use to base it off in case it is of any use, it quite convieniently has both cultures and locations:

This is something that I inquired about long ago. The main issue here is game performance. Including everything that we have had or could add would slow the game to a crawl. Unfortunately, unless we get a 64 bit EU3 we won't be able to do much about unused nations.

Thanks for the map anyway! I had been looking for something like this long ago. I grew up in the gray area above Shawnee. Something I find odd is that it says insufficient data for classification for that area. In reality it was Shawnee mixed with some Iroquois. It is well known who lived there. I suppose what gray really means is that there was too much of an intermixing of tribes to make a specific determination.

Added to spice up Indonesia. Ended up having some overlapping nations. Removed for performance-reason.

According to many discussions (that i hope we won't start again ), it was deemed that the North America native nations didn't build nations as organised as other nations, even like the Mesoamericans or the Andean nations.

This I would have to completely agree to. While the points that they did play a big part in colonial ventures between the French and the British are valid, they would be more easily represented by events and modifiers than by saying they were organized states. Additionally their major role in that conflict was not until late in the game's timeline.

That too is on my to do list. Some native nations are present as "regions" to prepare for later events, that i still haven't found the time to code

    Any volunteers ?
