Hi again,

here is my unit editor (based on the data reader).

You should be able now to fully edit units, weapons and sensors.
Also you can arrange them in new datafiles, which you should do for all stuff you create new.
Otherwise they are overwritten with the next patch.

Before you do anything: make a backup of your data files!
NWAC removes units that it can't process. (Worst case, the whole data file can't be read and whole missions won't show up)

Basic principle:
Search a unit on the search tab, double click it to load it into the NWACPedia tab.
On the NWACPedia tab you can look, but not change the data.
Hit "Edit" or "clone as new" for changing data.
- Edit
On the unit tab you can change the basic data (speeds, heights, flags, etc) and sensors/weapons/carried units
Click "change Head" to edit vessel names & roles
- Clone as new.
Use the current NWACPedia unit as a template for a new unit. Enter a new unique internal unit name to proceed.
as with edit you can now change the unit data.
- Delete
Removes the unit/weapon/sensor from the data file. Only adviseable for your self created units.

If you hit "save" the unit gets written to the data file!

Great job! Been needing something like this for a while, sifting through text becomes tiring. :)

new version 0.2 =)
Units should now be completly changeable.

Next todo is a tab to manage where the units are saved, e.g. making files with own units to pass around.

On a related note: is there already a modding sub-forum around?

If you know where the data files are, you can point the editor to it on the first tab.
But currently I can't find them anywhere, but steam also says the game is unavailable. So maybe they show up again when the maintenance is done.

Edit:
Re-Installing fixed it.

On closer inspection, there are some other changes to the data. Every object (Unit, weapon, etc) has now its own file with slightly different xml structure.
Renders the whole XML organizing tab pointless. But I see the advantage things brings.

Need some time to adjust the editor to this structure change.

Life is funny. I liked modding the game better via the xml's. Do you know where they've hid them now, or have they been compiled? I'd rather be without the editor, but with Steam that's not an option. Either way, thanks for the utility, and let me know if you can....

Ok, new version 0.7 to stay compatible with the current NWAC version. As always: please make a backup of your datafiles before going nuts with them =)

Hey venomxxx.

Nice editor good job, should make editing the game a lot easier. Are download links time limited i.e. if there not download for a month or so then they are deleted?

If this is the case I can host the files for you if that would be of help.

Nice work. I made a change using your editor, put the ship in the ME and the change stuck.

I assume we can pop modded platforms into existing custom scenarios after deleting the vanilla ships. Thanks again.
