And I applied for Ethiopia quite a few pages back :p

OOC: if I were you, I'd come to the IRC channel and wait for Fry to come in, then you'd talk straight to him. Otherwise you'll get buried under the posts again.

The continued expansionism aimed policy of the Ottomans will force us to reevaluate ourselves regarding their government. They continue to show outward desires and to play the game of power again. The NaP we signed was based on no wars launched by them, but they have taken any and all steps they can come up with to tweak their nose at us and to expand aggressively around the NaP.

This latest move combined with their strong expansion efforts at the Arabian peninsula leaves us with no choice but to consider them both in violation of the spirit of the treaty and as a looming threat. We had thought the railroad push by Germany a positive idea but combined with the defense alliance it is instead clearly a move aimed towards the British empire as part of a long term push to weaken ties amongst the Commonwealth. Rather than any continued policy of friendship between their nations they instead sign a military alliance. Such will clearly only lead to a great war once again and over the most isolated of causes as with the last war. While we will hold back from spreading the web of alliances as a noose around peace, we are forced to consider changes to our current attempt to return to a more isolated posture.

A defensive alliance was signed between the German Empire and the Ottoman Empire to promote friendship and stability in the Middle East. The German Empire is entering into an great partnership with the Ottoman Empire and with the construction of this Berlin-Babylon railway and the clearing of the Bosporus it will be a highly lucrative one as well. We had hoped to ensure it's security with a defensive pact and the Ottomans kindly agreed.

As a strictly defensive pact, this treaty should pose no threat to anyone but belligerent nations that wish to threaten the stability of the entire world. We in Germany will do everything in our power to avoid another war.

What are you talking about? How can we be considered expansionist? What aggressive action have we taken?

First of all we left the Balkans, resulting in a large loss of land. Do you consider that expansionist? Secondly, our joining with the Arabians has been peaceful. Our expansion in that area has been at their request. We have taken no aggressive action, never forced ourselves upon anyone and worked peacefully with our Arab neighbours. So what aggressive action or expansionist actions are you talking about? Why are you so angry at the Arabian nation peacefully joining with us?

If anything, it has been you that has been the aggressive expansionist! You wreaked relations between our two nations from the start, threatening us with war. And it is you who has been expansionist, demanding and stealing Kuwait from us!

And we aren't surprised you have gone back on our treaty, even though we abided by the terms. It clearly shows another trait you lack.

You are the most intolerable, unreasonable, uncooperative nation we have ever met.

Romania would like to remind the Ottomans of the men they shot with their own riflemen at your command who were unarmed and told that they were going to make peace.

OOC:Why has no one ever brought this up out of the update?

OOC: Maybe cause they are rebels?

OOC:It's still wrong to shoot them unarmed :p you could of at least put guns on their bodies then.

OOC: They're rebels, no one cares.

OOC:So everyone would care if the Ottomans shot a diplomat from like a civilized nation?

Given the policy of the Ottomans is seemingly anti-United Kingdom we do not feel it is safe to provide any aid to them in the future as was discussed. Such would be too risky and too dangerous to undertake. There is no point to risk the possibility of armed conflict by sending any of our people into a potentially hostile land. Even if a strong guarantee of safety were somehow arranged it could still lead to a crisis. We will have to focus on areas with less risk for the near future and instead if needed and asked, direct any expertise to the canal project in the Americas.

The Dominion of South Africa

I find the Turkish statements to be most laughable. Arab nationalism has been measured to be at its highest point in recorded history. The Arabs do not want enslavement under a foreign, faraway Sultan, they want their freedom. Furthermore, considering the inherent anti-British sentiment that has been displayed in the past years, as well as the military alliance with Germany, whom has quite recently been building up their navy in what cannot be seen as anything other than a blatant challenge to the naval supremacy of the British Empire, it seems in retrospect that the seizure of Kuwait was entirely justified.

Were I the British Prime Minister, I would not stand for this outright disrespect and insolence. However, I am not, only a Prime Minister of one of the several Dominions that make up the Empire.

-Prime Minister Louis Botha

South Africa should not concern itself with issues it knows nothing about. Arab nationalism has actually reduced significantly ever since the re-establishment of Parliament and Federalisation. Additionally, we have given the Arabs food, created farms in Mesopotamia and built factories, supplying them with jobs. Do you have any evidence to support your statement?

The 1906 Olympics

The 1906 Summer Olympics took place from early July to late November. This was a truly interesting feat, as the Olympics were supposed to be held in 1904, but the Three Emperors War. The venue was moved from St. Louis, and instead sent to Chicago, Illinois. The games were officially opened by President Roosevelt on July 4th, 1906, where he proclaimed that these games bring unity to all nations involved.

As the games commenced, and the nations went to compete for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals. There were far more nations in this year's Olympics than the last Olympics, and the undisputed winner was the German Empire, which dominated the medal count, winning the Gold in Swimming, Wrestling, Lacrosse, Rowing, and Archery.

The United States fared well, coming in second with three gold medals in Diving, Water Polo, and Football.

After this, there were medals scattered all over the place and winners for different categories. The final break down came down as the following; the Kingdom of Hungary, acting separate from the Austrian team, won Weightlifting, while the Austrians won Tug of war. The United Kingdom captured Cycling and Tennis, while Mexico took Gymnastics. France won in Fencing and Golf, while Australia won Boxing. South Africa finished with the last two gold medals in Athletics and Roque.

The Olympic Committee, now determined to decide where the next games were held, has sent out a plea to all the nations to prove to them that their nation should be the host of the next Summer Olympic Games. They have stressed they are looking for the country who can make the best case for themselves. The only nations that can apply to host the Olympics were the nations that had attended them in the 1906 Olympics.

OOC:I'm assuming Romania attended the Olympics but didn't win any medals correct?
Edit IC:Romania would like to apply to host the 1908 Olympics in Bucharest to show that there will never be a repeat of another Three Emperors War and that the past is over and done with.So Romania asks to apply for the 1908 Olympics to heal the wounds caused by The Great War.

Romania attended, but only received the Bronze in Wrestling.

The Argentine Republic celebrates with joy the Games that have just taken place in the United States. The Bronze medal won in football must be the first step for the growth of our national sportsmanship, for the well-beeing of our people and the glory of our nation.

I am proud of the performance of our athletes in this year's Olympics. You have all performed very well, and two golds and a silver is nothing to sneeze at. This is proof that we are a strong nation, and that the petty distinctions that divided us prior cannot hold us back now. We will all go onwards! Forwards, South Africans!

-Prime Minister Louis Botha

I must congratulate our athletes and the demonstration of their abilities in this most recent Olympic Games. You have done you country proud and will serve as a beacon of athleticism and ability throughout time. May the next steward of the games treat them with the reverence they so deserve!

OOC: No Prestige for hosting? :( Also, I not applying as I just hosted, someone else should.
