Greetings, super friends!

I desperately want to do a CK2 AAR, but I just haven't been able to find a mod that gives me the great character-driven events that shaped my first successful CK1 AAR, The Butterfly Device.

So I'm going to try a different kind of AAR instead. One with a goal.

I'm going to go from being a meager count to becoming the King or Queen of France. BUT! There is one rule:

ALL of my land-grabbing must be accomplished through marriage. I can put down rebellions, etc, but I can not advance my cause by the sword. I'm going to marry my way up the French nobility!

So...recommend to me a random French county, and we'll get this thing started!

Sounds great! I love self-imposed rules like this.

There is an old count with one county on the coast in the Duchy of Toulouse. In Narbonne, I think. IIRC he has meager prospects and two sons who hate each other. Maybe he would be lowly enough?

Vermadois it is! Starting the game now!

Sounds great and I play like that too, as in I might actually push a claim if I convinced myself it were a good one but I don't fabricate, assassinate, push claims of obviously inferior heirs (e.g. younger brothers of current rulers) etc.

I realise you picked the Karlings of Vermandois several days ago but I'd have mixed feelings about them, personally, if I wanted someone lowly. After all, they're about the only and thus senior-most Karlings on the map, the dynasty of the former kings. The concept of marrying up would find a limited application to them. On the other hand, I'm sure the game will be interesting.
