What nation should I play?

Well, I found that gettiing to be number one is the best challenge to set for yourself in combination with Laissez Faire as that combinatio nwill provide you
with plenty to do instead of free reign.
I would recommend the CAS or Chile, the later if you are an experienced player and pretty much know how the game works.

Try play as Russia and conquer China or the British India!

Playing as Russia is certainly fun , but quite easy to conquer anything .

Indeed. Huge manpower, once litteracy and techs are up and running it´s totally possible to do a World Conquest as Russia.

I´d suggest Spain, Netherlands, Sweden and Austria. Not too weak, not too strong, lots of possibilities.

I'm taking a break from my other games and I feel like playing V2 again.
What nation should I pick? I want to play a nation that I've never played before.

- All european nations besides the balkan ones, france, switserland and UK
- Japan
- China
- Panjab
- USCA

Any tips? I find uncivs a bit too boring post-AHD. There is literally nothing to do during the civilizing process. Or am I missing something?

You've got to play the UK at least once, see what makes and breaks their empire, and give the best shot you can to running the world, preventing others from raising to power, like USA's growth at Mexico's expense, German unification, Russian expansion into the middle east, France's getting useful colonies. So on.

UK is lame in Vicky 2 for several reasons.

1- Above all, no events compared to Vicky 1 + VIP. One thing is fighting the Crimean War, other is fighting the first war of Russian Humiliation...
2- Malus for having non-accepted POPs is not as harsh as in Vicky 1. I´d realy like to see an hands-off game where Ireland and India become independent.
3- Too easy to make large armies of foreign POPs. It´s a problem specially with Netherlands - it´s simply ridiculous to be able to field large armies of javanese with state-of-the-art rifles and cannons. It´s absurd. If the dutch did that they would be screwed in real life by a large scale revolution. In fact the whole way armies are handled should be changed. If armies of foreign people are created, revolts should be a VERY real risk.

Spain is fun but hard to industrialize. I like knocking France out of africa on day one and then trying to establish hegemony over all of North and West africa. Sometimes I try to retake Spain's former italian possessions or renew its rivalry with the Ottomans.

I can recommend trying to form Germany as Austria. As you are the German underdog compared to Prussia, this makes for some interesting wars and alliances to achive.
In my game i almost failed, but was saved by France suddenly declearing war on Prussia at the right moment.
But on the other hand after you form Germany you become the nr1 superpower in the world.

Another thing to "try" to do is become Austria-Hungary before becoming Germany. This gives you Hungarian as an accepted culture as well, so you gain that benefit as well. It is also fun to do.

I think AHD addresses all those reasons more than enough... It's all a question of ambition, if you want to sit on the islands and watch your industry boom, it might get lame. If you start bossing other majors around to break their spirit, it might get tense very quickly. My UK game are much slower than any other campaign I ever play because I'm at war almost all the time.

I've thought about it but never tried it myself. I need a bigger power base to deal with the massive badboy and Spain's starting economy is terrible and is very hard to kickstart in my experience.
