CIA map is horrendous for DH since countries expand and if there were only 4-6 colors, then well......

If multiple countries, then yes. But it's true...it would't work for DH.

Version 1.4 is now out.

Slightly edited colours to improve diversity and overall look.

Edited colour assignments to improve diversity.

I had some feedbacks about SOV not being quite red enough. Could you please check if you can do something about it? Please don't make it too red though.

Not a good mix with the UK is it? I'll check it out.

At least, that's what they say. :) I personally don't mind but this is a recurrent critic.
Another solution could be to turn the UK blue (19th UK is red but WW2 UK should be blue). It could be a strong (but not dark) blue whereas France would have a light/clear blue. Ofc counters need to be adjusted.
And perhaps it could even be useful to turn Japan red (that is also how they are painted in most WW2 wargame maps). Problem is to distinguish Japan with Soviet Russia...

Japan can be gold,
China can be a yellowish-white
UK can be dark blue
France can be whitish-blue
Soviet Union can be REEEEEEEEEEED.

That makes sense in regards with esthetics. But dark red Japan makes more sense historically imvho.

It does? o.o

Well, hrm, okay, then make the Soviet Union red-giant red and Japan burgundy/dark red

Well, I think it might be best to keep the original assignments as I only have 3 shades of blue at the moment. The Red was specifically reserved for the UK, so I'd have to do a swap with a blue set of nations...gets messy after that! That or I create a new unique blue shade, but I think that would be pretty hard and will take a lot of time.

So I have adjusted the colour of the Soviet Union. Try it out:

dark red;;;
red;green;blue;index
244;179;179;0
224;159;159;20
204;139;139;40
1;1;1;64

I don't think I'll include it in my pack though. I wanted as many countries as I can to have an element of lightness to it, just to avoid "good" and the "evil" stereotypes. But it just about remains within the pallet of the rest of the countries.

It doesn't look wildly different. But it's probably the best I can do without it standing out too much. I really like the original colour...not sure why people don't think it's red enough. Red is red :/

I have seen a blue and green UK before and I like it. The trouble with blue though, is that the UK, US and France would look very much like the "good guy team", which may be historically true but I suppose it depends on how people play. I know the Soviet puppets have a mostly socialist colour theme, but it seems to work.
Also, a red Japan might not work because of its shared border with the Soviets...might look a bit like a puppet. Yellow does seem slightly race based, but I think it suits the ideology too. A blue could suit China though (the blue shirts).
Either way, it should be easy to play around and see what you can do. Might work out well. I might try it out too.

I see your point and "Red SOV" does not look better than "Pink SOV". :D
I am going to tweak the files for WIF2 to turn Japan red, China and UK blue. I'll post the results if you are interested.

Well, if it makes them happy. I suspect I might have to edit it again though xD

Yeah, I'd like to see it! Might make a few changes to mind if it works out.

1.5 released! Further improvements to diversity...will the fun never end?!

Don't worry. UpperLorraine does nothing but complain about Paradox Interactive, other people on the forum, and the games themselves. Definitely no need to concern yourself with that individuals complaints.

It's a classic case of teenage angst, especially with the defense mechanism of 'HURR HURR I AM 21 I WORK EA. I AM BETTER THAN U LEAV MI ALONE."

The colours are okay, but I think you should still continue work on them.

He claims to work at EA? That's laughably bad. As if that would give him any credibility!

I'm currently thinking of adding a purple into the mix as a user colour, so that should be coming at some point.
