This week we are starting to create an integrated Mission Editor for Naval War: Arctic Circle. The editor will allow you to build your own scenarios for the game, using all the available units.
We do not know yet when it will be released, but when it is, it will be free to all players and not require any separate application.
We plan to release a preliminary but functional mission editor first, which will be for creating multiplayer scenarios. These missions will also be playable as skirmish, but with limited AI sophistication.
We will then add more sophisticated functionality, such as complex AI orders, neutral units, etc, in future upgrades. It will of course always be possible to take the output of the mission editor and add this manually, but we hope to eventually have the full richness of the scenario system in NWAC available for everybody.
We are planning to use the Steam Workshop, allowing players to share assets with the community in a simple way. This functionality may not be integrated at the initial release.
At the same time as we release the first edition of the Mission Editor we plan to put in place a system for modders and scenario builders to keep the mods and the original database separate.
