The House Of Wittelsbach: The Royal Family of Bavaria

    Introductions

A short history of the House of Wittelsbach.

The House of Wittelsbach was a German dynasty which originated in Bavaria. The home castle was located in Wittelsbach, hence the name. The House of Wittelsbach reigned from 1180 until the abdication of King Ludwig III of Bavaria in the German Revolution of 1918. Otto I “the redhead” was the first Bavarian ruler from the House of Wittlesbach, he ruled from 1180 until his death in July 1183. His descendants ruled Bavaria for the next 738 years.

    Rules
Starting in 1066 as the Count of Niederbayern
Using the mod CK2Plus version .24 and CK2 Heraldry mod incorporated
    Patch 1.04

    Background
I had fun with my first attempt with CK2Plus version .17. Kind a interesting being the King of Bohemia. I will try not to do that again.
What I want to do is take the House of Wittelsbach and see where I can go with it. Maybe form the German empire or try to do what was done in
real life history where Wittelsbach provided two Holy Roman Emperors, 7 Kings of various countries, and numerous counts, electors, and bishops.
Its basically....Beta-patches will be for computer-literate people.

Not sure if I've ever seen a Wittelsbach AAR - surprising, considering the historic prestige of the family! I read the first few updates earlier, but didn't have time to say good job and subscribe until now.

    Chapter 5

    Chapter 5
    June 30, 1139 to September 21, 1144

Otto remarries again with wife #4, Cecilie Asgersdatter

She will deliver a baby from her previous spouse who died.

And will produce a new heir by the name of Cynthia

    Sister Sophie remarries also

    Oldest daughter Bethanie dies

A few years before Otto broke away from Bavaria and was a vassal for HRE in an attempt to gain more land.
Another war broke out between Bavaria and HRE. Otto was looking to the future and decided to switch back
to being a vassal for Bavaria as Bavaria was winning.

Otto is named the Chancellor for Bavaria in 1140 and again in 1143.

The HRE changed hands a few times. First Heinrich IX takes the crown but loses it,
only for his daughter (Irmgard) to reclaim it and then lose it after she dies at the age of 23.

Otto claims the rest of Bavaria

Otto then creates the Duchy of Bavaria

    Independence

Uncle Otto dies at the age of 86.

    Thanks for reading.

    Chapter 6

    Chapter 6
    September 21, 1144 to September 5, 1172

The Duchy of Bavaria has a new ruler.
    Otto III (April 18, 1101 to September 15, 1146)

    Interesting.

    Cynthia comes of age.

Cynthia gets married to Ernst von Henneberg

An heir, Otto is born. May 29, 1160.

A daughter Cynthia is born on September 4, 1172.

    A poet in the works.

Let's see, a pardon is on the books.

Now who would want to see Cynthia dead?

    Hersey appears in the Duchy

    And is gone.

The time has come to stop being independent.

Does Cynthia want to plot or not.

    The Kaiser gets an honor

    More land.

    And still more land.

The husband gets his very own shiny parsel of land.

    Thanks for reading.

Cropping is your friend! Makes it easier to move from one important event/person to the next in smooth succession, allowing for greater absorption of your game. The occasional map, whether it be religion/cultural/political, after a significant change may attract more interest. People love maps.

Bavaria is always a fun place to play as, whether it be in CKII/EUIII/VICI or II.

I hadn't realized how big Bavaria was until you put up the map. You've really expanded.

    Chapter 8

    Chapter 8
    April 5, 1196 to March 16, 1221

Ernst is married to Agnes von Kammin. But she will not do, so a divorce is requested in 1199.

And then marries Alis Nic Murchad on July 7, 1199.

Thus far there have been three kids produced.

    Philipp (b. 1204)

He will marry Adela von Eppstein on April 11, 1220.

    Cynthia (b. 8/16,1205)

    Adelia (b. )

As for the other relevant members of the family.
The grandmother died in 1221 at the age of 93. Notice who is the heirs are for some prime real estate.

Mother is not in very good shape either.

    Now some interesting activity.
The Church must think Ernst has deep pockets.

    Mysterious death.

    Notice the last name.

    What?

Hmmmm. Somebody wants to do something in their spare time.

Ernst is made the Steward of the HRE in 1212.

Bavaria goes to war to press a claim and wins in 1216

And acquired the Duchy title of Baden.

Kaiser Dietpold I at his coronation in October 1218.

    Thanks for reading.

    Chapter 9

    Chapter 9
    March 16, 1221 to July 22, 1240

    Family update.

    Cynthia

    And she dies.

    Adelia

My liege decides to press my claim on the Kingdom of England.

This is because mother dies in 1224.

And the conflict comes to an end
    Ohhhh yes.....

    A nice shiny new map.

    Another King title.

What does this prisoner want? A room in the castle.

    Another conflict in 1234.

    More land taken in 1237.

A troublesome vassal revolts, or a slip of the finger, or the wrong person gets imprisoned.

    Thanks for reading.
