    (MOD) Occultus Orbis Terrestre

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

    OVERVIEW:
In 1399 there were many areas of the world that were undiscovered. Some mapmakers claimed to have special knowledge of what lay just beyond the horizon. OOT is an ahistorical mod, adding those islands, countries, peoples and continents that mankind has claimed exist. OOT adds exploration and excitement for those players who, frankly, already know what they're going to find when they "discover" the unknown.

Download Occultus Orbis Terrestre 1.3.1 here
INSTRUCTIONS: Please note, you must unzip the file into your VANILLA (Main) EUIII: DW directory. It will not interfere with vanilla in any way, but it enables some of the new graphics on the trade screen. Failure to follow these instructions will result in the mod hanging just before it loads.
Compatible with EUIII: Divine Wind 5.2 patch

    Sub-Mods:
fargoniac has released a sub-mod that emphasizes the Always War mod by Junuxx. You can download it here.

Wow, quite a bit of work. I wish I had the time to really sit down and test this out. How are colonization and things like that working out?

Looks interesting, I'll definitely try this. It reminds me a little of my old Island Empires mod, but better.

I toyed with an idea a little along those lines way back when, then eventually dropped it. Glad to see someone else doing it!

Also, I'm surprised the mod name isn't Hic Sunt Dracones (though I think someone misused that name already) :-p

There shouldn't be any changes from Knuckey's mod (I just adopted it wholesale)

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I hope it works out well.

BTW, there is a CTD bug that seems to come up randomly... any help in ferreting it out would be appreciated.

I played with a few names, but decided that the Hidden World of Earth (rough translation) was most appropriate. Meh, a rose by any other name...

The mythology during this era was that Prester John was from India, not Ethiopia. It was when the Portuguese discovered Hindus in India that they "moved" Prester John to Ethiopia.

I would look up Prester John's "letter" to the Byzantine Emperor for this as well. It gives some interesting details on the organization and structure of his kingdom.

Also, please change the color of the text in your post. Many of us use the default skin which has a white background.

Point taken about India vs Africa, however, for the sake of not doing too much in the India region, I've left it in Africa. I can honestly say that India or Africa, Prester John is a-historical

    EDIT: Just as a by-the-by:
"By the fourteenth century, exploration had proved that Prester John's kingdom did not lie in Asia, so subsequent letters (published as a ten-page manuscript in several languages), wrote that the besieged kingdom was located in Abyssinia (present-day Ethiopia)." here

Thanks. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed myself trying to put it all together.

    Like what new religions worship...
Dragon & Northern Dragon Worship are animistic religions that venerate the 'bones of the gods' (i.e. fossils) In Dragon worship the main god is the Three-Horned Dragon (triceratopsids), while Northern Dragon Worship venerates a different god (mosasaurids) as the chief god.

Ellenismos is the child religion of the Hellenistic period (worship of Greco-Romanesque deities)
In Enasism the worship of the Ideal God is encouraged. The Ideal God is omnipotent and omniscient, yet the god does not concern himself with the day-to-day affairs of the world (Deism, of a sort).

Practitioners of Mazu worship the Goddess of the Sea, as she preserved their forefathers in their journeys across the waters to their present lands.

    Hurufism and Nasrani

Asakti was brought about through the efforts of some Hindu scholars, who believed that pleasure and focus on the 'self' brought one closer to the Divine. This sect was driven out of the Indian Subcontinent in about 1050CE, only to take up residence with the Indo-Lemurian peoples of Lemuria.

    Omnianism and Offlian

    Arioi, Tiki and Tangata Manu

I apologize for that - I still haven't tracked it down. If you go back to a save game (6mo previous) sometimes it wont happen (for a long time, or ever)

I love this but while looking around I already found a bug, Switzerland is completely cultureless (noculture).

Yeah, you may want to consider something like China's Celestial Empire, as Prester John's kingdom without Prester John and/or his descendents wouldn't really be anything.

I once modded PJ's kingdom into EU3, so I learned quite a bit about it. If you don't have a flag for his kingdom, I'd recommend looking at this. I'm not a huge fan of white flags, so I'd take that one and play around with it for a bit.

If you're into redrawing the map, you should also consider redrawing Australia to match what 19th century explorers thought it would look like. See here. They thought there was a large inland sea, as well as a complex river system that created a very fertile and habitable core.

Game still crashes, though it does it later(after few years, like 3 or 4).Thanks for the lore, anyway, very interesting.I eagerly wait for the new(hopefully more stable)release
