    Indonesia Refuses to Peace?!

I was playing as recently unified Japan in 1520s. I declared war on Brunei and pretty much every Indonesian country decided to war with me. The only ones in the entire region that didn't were Papua, and maybe three, one province countries. At Any rate, I steam rolled all of them within 5 years. Every province was "occupied". Every army was destroyed. So was every navy.

But there was a problem. No one would peace with me. Period. Not any of the one province states, not Maphajit (sp?) who owned about 50% of the provinces in the area. Not anyone. For another 5 years, I sent diplomat after diplomat. I tried vassalizing, I tried only taking one or two provinces, I tried just taking gold, I even tried white peace. Always rejected.

Also, it should be noted that every time I tried, it said "this offer is better than they are expecting..."

Anyway, after about 10 years of occupying all of Indonesia for nothing, the messages changed to "they will not accept this" even for white peace, or offering tribute... WTF? I waited about 20 more years (until 1555) and still, no one will peace and none of the occupied provinces got assimilated either.

Is this a bug, or are you just not allowed to conquer things as Japan, or what?

im not sure what is going on. Are these nations you are at war with, vassals of Majapahit? if so, then at least in DW you should be able to annex/peace them. Im not sure how this works in HTTT. there is no penalty once you become Japan again.

Ok, so I might have figured some things out. First, I am using DW and the latest TN. And yeah, about half the countries were vassals of Majapahit, the other half were allies.

Anyway, I went back to a previous save and tried warring with South Asia instead. But same things happened.

I think the problem might have been that I hadn't actually unified Japan yet. I had annexed all but two provinces (which were my vassals) and it said I became Shogun. So I thought I had unified, but I guess not. After I went back and annexed those two provinces, I soon got a message saying that I became Japan. However, this too seems bugged...

After I became Japan, suddenly I can't do any interactions with foreign countries except to "Send Gift". Also, I'm not sure why, but after I became Japan I could no longer adjust the Stability slider.

So my two new questions are,

    1. Is conquering foreign countries disabled while you are still just Shogun, but haven't unified Japan?
    2. Why do I suddenly become unable to do anything after I become Japan?

I think one of the problems here is that nothing tells you what the process of unifying Japan will entail. I didn't know how to become Shogun, or what being Shogun does, or what the Shogun influence was about, and I didn't know what requirements there were to unify Japan, or what will happen when I do. Because nothing in-game, or in the manual, or even on the Sakura mod page describes it.

right, in TN you wont get true 'unification' until you get the Japan nation tag / flag. that is intended. hmmm. did you reload the game? its usualy a good idea to eload after a tag change.

    1. i dont think so but im not sure.
    2. try to reload? not sure otherwise.

well, nobody ever wanted to help make or update the TN manual. I have no desire to work on a manual.
