the best way would be to keep negative relations with the HRE Emperor. Eventualy you will probably end up leaving it by events. province by province or all at once if the Emperor wants.

if you are at war with the emperor, probably right away if he removes you, if not, it would be gradualy, maybe a year or two per province but im just guesing.
