    Pope questions

Does anyone know how the Pope is chosen in CKII? In CKI I remember having a few relations in the holy position due to giving out a couple of dukedoms and counties, but in CKII I'm 200 years in and I've not seen anyone apart from random Italians with 1 person dynasties ascend to the position.

My pope question: can the pope cancel crusades? If there is a crusade that goes for 50+ years and no one declares war on the target because it is too powerful, the pope should rethink... let the churche loose authority when canceling a crusade.

I d love to have the chance (if i am playing as King or a powerful Duke) to influence the papal election (or even the Patriarchal one if i am an orthodox).
You know bribe other Cardinals, push for the election of my friend to the Papal throne etc. Just usual everydays medieval stuff...

You can become the Pope, and keep the title as well.

-Swear Fealty as a Duke (I usually use Calabria as it's closest)
-Build up your forces over time
    -War to Depose the Pope
    -Create the Kingdom of Sicily
-Make Kingdom of Sicily (or whatever Kingdom you acquire as the Pope) your primary title, and the Papacy laws will disappear and will follow that kingdom's laws. I'm stuck with gavelkind and will be losing it next round, but yeah. The Papacy is now a dynastic title.

You get spammed with indulgence-buying events though. It's pretty annoying.
