This mod will borrow heavily from the numerous alternative history writings I have complied over the years and will be plausible and explained in the future. Development Diary #1: An Introduction

Hello and greetings to all subjects of the American Empire. I am the representative of Emperor Jackson, the Glorious, the Magnificent, the Master of the Earth and Moon. I am here to brief you about the upcoming mod known simply as: "Pride & Providence". I have complied a few questions that our mind readers have pre-determined to be most beneficial to you loyal subjects.

1) What is Pride & Providence?

Pride & Providence will be a world changing modification in the sense that all corners of the world have been redesigned to reflect alternative events in history. The mod will begin in 1836, the world has been at peace since the end of the Napoleonic War. Yet, all is not well. Empires have been humbled, with dynasties established. One of the many newly established dynasties is the House of Jackson, founded by our Glorious Emperor, Andrew Jackson.

2) What are some of the divergences in history?

There are several divergences in history that occur. Most notably this happen during the late stages of the Napoleonic War & the War of 1812 between the then Democratic-Republic United States of America and Great Britain. These changes, will bring about a new world, where several nations will either have fallen, been reduced, reinvigorated or returned to the face of the planet.

3) What countries may be making an appearance?

I am not authorized to release any official names of these countries at this time. However, I can release the three letter abbreviations of said countries. First, there is the RGC, this is the only confirmed country at the time. However, additional countries may include the RCF.

4) When will Pride & Providence be released?

This is a great question, but you should already know the answer. Pride & Providence is ready for release whenever the Benevolent Emperor Jackson says it is ready. There is a rigid testing process that I have been informed of. In order to assure there is completely no bias or chances for the unthinkable happening, the American Empire must win 100 of 100 games played using the Grand Scenario.

In all honesty, the Benevolent Emperor Jackson thinks he may have an early release candidate available as soon as Paradox Interactive has fixed the issues regarding Victoria 2: A House Divided not accepting new tags into their game code.

5) Are you looking for assistance?

While the Emperor is hesitant to seek assistance, he recently did authorize the creation of a volunteer corps known as the Jackson Five. There's no problem with tags.

Perhaps I'm mistaken then, as currently the game keeps crashing with the RGC tag implemented, but once removed from the countries.txt the game just loads fine.

There was a problem with having more than 256 countries, but it was fixed in the beta patch.

The above flag is for the Free States of Canada (FSC), which will be available separately from Canada (CAN) in Pride & Providence. FSC is more American influenced while CAN will be the Great Britain/Commonwealth influenced.

What's in the news?

I have a two pictures to share! The first one is the current loading screen for Pride and Providence.

Nothing really special about it. The loading screen from Victoria 2 already suits my needs (American ships destroying London), just needed to be further "Americanized" with the P&P text.

The second screenshot is a early preview of Europe thus far.

Helpful Hint: That color in Europe that appears similar to England is the Netherlands. That is NOT its final color.

Modifications still need to be made on starting territory, cores, units, etc but this is all a works in progress.

You may want to check this out for a scenario where Napoleon stalemates with the Coalition. There are some interesting maps and posts that you might want to take a look at.

If I knew more about the divergence, I'd give you some suggestions on the map. It looks like Napoleon won on the continent and stalemated with the United Kingdom, but I don't want to draw a map based on this and then find out I'm wrong.

I'd also recommend Thoughtful Punk's Democratic/Republican flag for Free Canada. Yours clashes too much, and the stars don't exactly form a circle.

Right now, there are several divergences and they will begin being covered here within the next few diaries. One can certainly speculate that America wins the War of 1812, since the title is in colors of the flag.

The FSC flag is a work in progress and don't diss the circles because its taken from the Colonial American flag (13 stars to represent the 13 provinces / territories of Canada). Unless of course you are anti-American... (evil grin)

The problem isn't the stars. It's that they don't form a circle (the length being greater than the width) and the clash of red and blue. Most modern-day tricolors and Canadian pales use color-white-color so that the two colors on the sides don't clash. Yours uses red-blue-red, and the red clashes unpleasantly with the blue.

While the colors are not specifically Canadian Red, they are Old Glory Red / Old Glory Blue.

The star circle did get a bit distorted, and I think it might be skewed to one side too [Edit: fixed in the second flag, I think, although the star circle is a bit flattened now]. If you want, feel free to try one of these on for size (they resize to 93 by 62 without much distortion - you'll either have to add on one pixel of color to the top and bottom [to get to 93x64] or just stretch it a tiny bit to the proper dimensions, which from my tests doesn't look too bad - some of the flags use colors sampled from the American flag, and some use slight derivations for better contrast and other flag references, although it should be relatively easy to fill in new colors [since it's a png image]).

Its not intentional. The colors are from the loading screen image itself (the two American flags on the ships). Thanks for the other flag suggestions.

I'll have more screenshots later probably before I leave tomorrow morning, if not, when I return.
