Then you must also know that it's forbidden to talk about bad-things-concerning-civilians-and-soldiers-that-both-sides-have-done, so stick to "liberation", "conquest" etc.

    NEW POST FEBRUARY 26th
    NORTH AMERICAN MP GAME #2

    http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...a-Series-2-FTM

During the period of July 2nd 1937 to December 25th 1938, The League of Nations expressed its deepest concerns over Italy’s actions in Ethiopia (conquest) and Japan’s aggressive stance against China (annexation of Shanxi and Nationalist China, and vassalization of Communist China and Xibei San Ma). Among others things, to show its support to Chinese’s’ cause, United States offered political asylum to Tchang Kaï-chek, former Nationalist China Leader.

One diplomatic success that can be underlined is the ongoing talks over the Munich agreement. The League of Nations, due to solid work from British and American representatives, has been able to oppose, for 4 months so far, with strong and convincing arguments, an attempt by Germany to annex The Sudetes and thus, breaking apart Czechoslovakia’s unity. The talks are far from over with Germany and we foresee that any weakness in current British support to our position would translate into a gain for the Nazi regime, at the expense of Czechoslovakia and Democracy.

NDLR: The Munich agreement event did not fire up during our last session. Our expert suspect that dissent in Germany prevented the event from being triggered. Germany’s player is currently trying to cope with his internal problem.

    A STRONG ECONOMY
    Chicago Herald Tribune
    Summer 1938

By July 1938, the first part of the “Wagner Plan” was already completed and the 2nd part was on its way to be successfully implemented. Towns and cities in the Midwest were literally saved by the plans as new factories, directly funded by this new policy, were providing well needed jobs and economic support. President Roosevelt was more than pleased, as the support of the Democratic Party raised during that period. Economic bonds with European and Asian nations were strengthened, as economic trade value (both imports & exports) reached a sky high record of 65 500 $ on a yearly basis. “Free trade, by bringing closer nations, is a natural defence against totalitarianism and chaos. We hope the Congress will allow us to pursue that politic as we are more than convince that trade can help us avoid a new conflict. It is in our power to avoid a new world war and it is our responsibilities to do whatever we can to assume that role”, noted Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Cordell Hull.

    1938 BASEBALL WORLD SERIES
    Chicago Herald Tribune
    October 1938

The President of the United States of America, F.D. Roosevelt, attended the final game of the 1938 Baseball World series. Ahead two-games-to-none with the Series shifting to Yankee Stadium, the New Yorkers seemed to be a lock. Game 3 and 4 were quick (and painful) as the home team's momentum carried them to 5-2 and 8-3 finales. The Yankees completed their fourth Series sweep in their last six appearances and became the first team to win the World Series in three consecutive years. Throughout the series, The Yanks appeared unstoppable and most felt that the Cubs never had a chance. Strong fan of the Chicago Cubs, our President confessed he hoped his club would have met a better fate. Nonetheless inspired by the Cubs defeat, our President had those prophetic words: “Our Cubs fought with determination but lost. Let us hope this is not the fate Democratic nations will face in the coming years, as totalitarian regimes spreading throughout Europe and Asia might break the equilibrium between nations.”

    CONGRESS AUTHORIZE PARTIAL US REARMEMENT
    Chicago Herald Tribune
    Fall 1938

During the year 1938, the US Army was finally authorized to reorganized itself and thus, moved to create two new branch in the army: The Airborne and The US Marines Corps. First result of this initiative was the creation of the 101st Airborne Division. This new unit is designed to be dropped over its opponents, in order to surprise and annihilate them. Douglas MacArthur, Chief General of the Army, was rather proud of this new achievement. “The creation of the 101st Airborne division is a solid step in the direction of a complete reorganization of the US Army”, said the Chief General. “These new units, coupled with new and heavier armor units, shall allow us to crush and push back any invading forces”. The US Marines Corps is seen as paving the way to a new kind of warfare: combined operations between the Navy and ground forces.

Six months before, an important milestone was also achieved, with the creation of the 1st American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force, nicknamed the Flying Tigers. Composed of pilots from the United States Army (USAAF), Navy (USN), and Marine Corps (USMC), recruited under presidential sanction, this unit is commanded by Claire Lee Chennault. The group, consisting of three fighter squadrons with about 20 aircraft each, was dispatched in China to help repel the Japanese invasion. Although the group fought hard alongside the regular Chinese army, they were not able to change the fate of the country, which surrendered to Japan.

Communique: His Majesty's Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs

His Majesty continues to look upon the world with weary eyes and a heavy heart. Despite the United Kingdom's continuous diplomatic efforts, Japanese aggression against the Chinese could not be stopped. The King once again implores the Japanese to stop their brazen aggression against the sovereign peoples of China. If Japan does not heed His Majesty's wise counsel, we will be forced to strengthen the defense of our colonies throughout the Pacific. The United Kingdom does not have quarrel with the Japanese, and we believe that peace in the Pacific can be had that includes both a sovereign China and Japan.

The King is proud that his diplomatic efforts in Europe seem to have calmed the waters. It is no surprise that the French have, once again, over exaggerated the purpose of the German reoccupation of the Rhineland. Chancellor Hitler has made no other aggressive moves or territorial demands. It seems that English wisdom has once again taken hold of the European continent. We look forward to meeting with Herr Hitler to discuss further non-violent ways to tweak, what everyone has come to realize, where the overly harsh conditions of the Versaille Treaty.

Despite the unwarranted Japanese aggression in China, the King still sees no reason to pursue the same build up of arms that our friends the Americans and French have undertaken. All of our excess industry is devoted to the development of our consumer economy, and as a consequence, our citizens still enjoy the highest standard of living in the world. We hope that other nations will follow our path of non-violence and agree to settle any future grievances at the table of diplomacy. An English Oak table of course.

Hail his Majesty and long live the King!
If one of us is going to be unhappy, it's going to be you.

From the Reichstag - January 1939

"As history proves, I have settled necessary political, economic and social problems without force of arms-without even resorting to arms."

Across the nation, headlines appear to remind us of where we stand in world affairs. Through peaceful negotiation we have brought nations together as never before. Unfortunately, the rest of the world has not followed our lead. This can be no more evidenced than the current struggle that Japan is involved in, trying to free the Asian peoples from their colonial masters. The old democracies of the western world refuse to take their yokes off of these poor souls, and instead continue to take advantage of a population that cannot defend itself. Japan and Italy have joined us in our struggle to become the voice of freedom, and reason, for the oppressed. Together, we can defend the basic principles that are required for human dignity.

    EMPIRE OF JAPAN
    MP AAR

Chapter 2 "A Message to the World"

With the swift annexation of Nationalist China to the Japanese Empire in Nov of 1937 and the fall of Guangxi Clique a few months later, the world could not deny the emerging of a superpower in Asia. The notion of japan as sole power in asia was something that many western governments simply could not stomach and protests throughout the democratic world had begun. Japan in response to this overwhelming criticism coming from the west decided to send an official diplomatic message to the western democracies and her allies in Europe, japanese diplomats around the world were instructed to emphasize japans emerging power in asia as a sign of prosperity and peace. To promote the annexation of china as a step forward for the peoples of asia and to repair relations where necessary with those countries who are now unsure of japans motivations.

This poster now hangs from every Japanese foreign embassy, portraying to the world japans new desire for peace and prosperity in the new asia.

    End of chapter 2.

For years, our government has tried to negotiate a trade route through the Danzig Corridor. This holdover from the illegal restrictions imposed on us by the League Of Nations has severely limited our ability to trade with our trading partners to the East. The Polish government has refused to allow the links of traditional commerce to cross their borders. Fearing retribution to our peaceful offers, we have strengthened the defenses of East Prussia.

In the west, our border guards enjoyed a peaceful summer, and conducted annual training excercises.

On September 1st, 1939 Polish forces attacked our outposts on the eastern frontier. Fortunately, we had a small contingent of troops nearby that were able to stabilize the situation. In response to pleas from ethnic Germans still living in the corridor, our forces pushed forward in an effort to ensure their safety. The Polish Army, now fully mobilized, continued their attacks. With great effort and sacrifice our forces, led by Field Marshall Von Rundstedt, crushed the Polish Army in three weeks.

As a direct result of this Polish aggression, the Allied governments in Great Britain and France decided to take advantage of our plight, and declared war upon us in an obvious effort to bring us to our knees. We say "Never again!". While the French Army snugly sits in their fortifications, we will attack their lackey Low Country neighbors so that we can bring the full weight of the Wehrmacht to bear.

    ECONOMIC RECOVERY!
    Chicago Herald Tribune
    Spring 1939

“The Wagner Plan is a complete success”, were the words of the President of The United States of America in his Speech to the Nation. As such, the New Deal Policy was cancelled in late Spring 1939. While the attention given to producing goods and services was significantly lowered, increasing efforts were put on the production of infrastructures, ships and military equipment. “This new trend should not surprise anyone. As tension is rising in Europe and Asia, The United States of America have no other choice than to prepare themselves to whatever role they could be asked to play in a world in turmoil”, said Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Arthur Vandenberg, in a meeting of The League of Nations during the Munich Agreement crisis, which led to the total annexation of Czechoslovakia by Germany. This political action was quickly followed by Italy's annexation of Albania.

    1939 BASEBALL WORLD SERIES
    Chicago Herald Tribune
    October 1939

The President of The United States of America, F.D. Roosevelt, attended, as a tradition well established, the final game of the 1939 Baseball World series. The Series were exciting, as usual, but one particular play will be remembered by those who were there for their whole life: the “Schnozz's snooze”.

The Cincinnati Reds returned to the big show for the first time since 1919 when they were the beneficiaries of the famous "Black Sox Scandal" in which their opponents, the Chicago White Sox, intentionally threw the Series. Their sudden rise to the top of the National League was more than impressive (after finishing at the bottom of the National League in 1937) and their "Cinderella season" featured the two winningest pitchers in all of baseball. Bucky Walters (27 wins) and Paul Derringer (25). For their opponents, the perennial championship Yankees, it was business as usual. New York finished the regular season with a 106-45 record and won their fourth consecutive pennant by seventeen games.

With a 3-0 lead in the Series, and the game tied 4-4, the NY Yankees played with their well known tenacity and got the title once again, with a spectacular play: With runners on the corners and one out in the tenth, "Joe D" came up big again and singled to right for the game winner. That would have been trouble enough for Cincinnati, but rightfielder Ival Goodman misplayed the ball and another run headed home. That, too, would have been trouble enough for Cincinnati, but catcher Ernie Lombardi not only failed to hold Goodman's throw to the plate, but he also was knocked down by the onrushing Keller and the ball rolled away. As a result, DiMaggio was able to circle the bases untouched, as the Reds' receiver lay stunned. "Schnozz's snooze" the play was called, and it won a special place in baseball folklore despite its minimal impact overall. In the bottom of the tenth, Cincinnati managed to send the tying run to the plate three times, but were unable to finish the job as Johnny Murphy protected the Yankees' 7-4 lead for their second consecutive sweep, and fourth consecutive World Series title.

“While the war is tearing apart the World, opposing Democratic Nations to Totalitarian Regimes, we can only hope that whatever the latter will do, the Allies will, in overtime if needed, get that kind of superplay that will turn the tide in their favour. We, President of The United States of America, strong supporter of Democracy, can only reiterate our determination to convince America that when time will come, we will play our role and help turn the tide, with all our might and strength.”

Italic parts of this text come from http://www.baseball-almanac.com/ws/yr1936ws.shtml . A great site for baseball fans.

    WAR !
    Chicago Herald Tribune
    November 2nd 1939

After almost 4 years, what could have been called an endangered peace finally turned into war. From December 25th 1938 to November 2nd 1939, we could feel the growing animosity between nations in Europe and Asia, from the complete annexation of Czechoslovakia and China, including Yunnan, to the last attempt by the Nazi Regime to annex a peaceful country, Poland, who was met by a stiff resistance from both UK, France, Canada and their allies.

The League of Nations is in disarray, as its diplomatic efforts were meaningless in front of the devastating turn taken by History. Poland quickly felt under the boots of the Nazi Regime, followed by Denmark in early October. And now, Netherlands are facing a similar fate, as Axis tanks and troops are converging toward Amsterdam, annihilating opposition. “Resistance is futile”, Ribbentropp said, during his last allocution in front of The League of Nations representatives.

As a result of these events, newly designated Foreign Affairs minister, Arthur Vandenberg, recalled the American ambassador from Berlin, for a reassessment of his mandate. At the same time, the Congress and the Chamber of representatives tabled a joint proposal to submit any new trade agreements proposal by Germany and Japan to a full study by the representatives and senators before any approval. The President of United States welcomed the proposal, saying this was a “Vital support to Democracy”. The President, on this wave of support, decided to submit to a review all current trades agreements with any Axis country. A special committee has been tasked with that mandate. It shall table its report directly to the President within the next 6 months.

OOC: The only thing so far that went wrong with this raid was that I missed clicked and only brought the corps HQ in the northern invasion instead of the entire Corp. This is what ultimately led to the loss of the three paratrooper divisions. Other than that, the raid has accomplished most of what it set out to do.

They were expensive, and every loss hurts, but it isn't game breaking. Our stiff upper lip is still intact. Besides, there was an unplanned bonus to the invasion. We found quite a bit of the remaining KM and 4-5 uBoats taking refuge in Amsterdam. The RN was able to port strike them all to the bottom of the harbor.

    NEW POST MARCH 13th
    NORTH AMERICAN MP GAME #2

AXIS HALTED BY STOIC ALLIED RESISTANCE
    Chicago Herald Tribune
    March 1940

The march of Axis forces toward Brussels and Paris was stopped by an international coalition of Canadian, Belgium, French and United Kingdom troops. The weather and stoic resistance by the Allied Force were able to stop the Nazi aggressive actions on La Demer River, North of Brussels.
    [See http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...1#post13557389]

Rumours of a massive Netherlands uprising in the North have been heard, which could have also contributed to this halt of the invasion of free and democratic nations. Atrocities were reported as the repressive measures were well beyond what would have been expected under the current circumstances.

In reaction to the course of events, President of The United States of America, F.D. Roosevelt, dispatched a special envoy to London, to discuss material collaboration between the two nations. These discussion could encompass more than what was reported to the medias.

The Canadian pre-emptive invasion of Iceland and Greenland in December was seen as appropriate by the Congress and the Chamber of representatives, and, as such, the Canadian request for stronger US military aid has been tabled for further study by the Committee on War Aid. The President is confident Canadian demands will be met beyond their own expectations.

In Asia, Empire of the Rising Sun was rather quiet, after two full years of bloodshed in China. If this relative calm is a sign of better things to come or just the period of silence before the storm remains to be assessed.

A terrible stalemate gripped the Western Front. Fighting all along the line, the Wehrmacht hammered at the Allies to no avail. The lights were burning late into the night at Field Marsall Von Kluge's headquarters.

    9 JUL 40

A glimmer of hope was seen on the far right flank of the army. Scouts had detected a gap between two Allied armies, and the 2nd Panzer Army, led by Lt. General Hausser, was sent into the breech.

    31 JUL 40

The enemy gave way as the armored spearheads charged forward, and several enemy divisions were cut off. Infantry was brought forward as the panzers continued to move. Finally, the road to Paris lay open.

Nice ketchup-effect. Nothings moves in a month and then suddenly everything breaks. This is a very dangerous moment for the Allies. They really would need to fend you off for about two more month, too give you a bad sellection of dates for Barbarossa, but it will be very difficult for them to delay you that much now.

Edit: Who is ruling the skies? I see a little bit of both air forces.
