[Forum Game] - World in Revolution: 1861

OOC: Spains is revenge. Italy is going on one of its trademark random territory grabs. Prussia was attacked. Britain is defending Prussia and securing key strategic areas.

Alliances are that - formalized goals. If Prussia and Spain sign an alliance to keep France in check, for example, then that is the stated goal. Not allowing Prussia to aid Spain in such a case because Prussia would not *directly* benefit from it makes no sense at all.

OOC: No, the reason is to stop alliance nets forming and thereby ensuring that people can actually go to war without the world imploding. Or at least, thats what I got from what the GM's have said.
 
OOC: Well from what I can see, basically everyone declared war on France just to get a finger in their pie.. But then I did get Ftance to declare war on Prussia...
 
Great Wars will NOT happen every five years. Next Great War that starts, the loser will have conditions imposed on them WORSE than Versailles for Germany.

This foolish war doesn`t have to continue for long, we don`t know what kind of revenge Spanish Kingdom wanted to exact on France, but if you hold your citizens in whose name you ordered this war started dear heed our demands and stop needless suffering. Withdraw from French colonies and we can have friendship and mutually beneficial relations.
I will promise not to intervene in Spanish speaking countries and colonies and forgive your sneak attack and destruction of French towns.

Why Spain wants to fight on behalf of Britain and Prussia. When Prussia falls to Tsar Alexander III and Austrian, Bavarian armies there is no hope for Spain matching the industrial power of France.
The Britain has seas, but it cannot and will not help you for they cannot even quell their own citizens.

Now the destiny of the Spanish Kingdom lays in your hands, will you prefer the sensible route and bring your nation on the path of industrialization and prosperity or will you decide to bleed your nation dry fighting on behalf of foreign powers.

France didn`t go into this war with aims of territorial gain, but Basque and Catalan people rose up and offered us their hand in their own rebellion. As such, we cannot leave them for we are honour bound to defend them against any Spanish retaliation. The Basque will be able to vote on whether they want to join France, Spain or remain independent after the war. The Catalan people have already choosen to tie their destinies with great French empire.

OOC : That's why temporary alliances exists, so that a number of countries ally themselves to accomplish their objectives, now a permanent alliance is something...more important to your country, something that at that time would only be signed between 2 countries that really had a reason to and had very good relations. (or that is what i got from reading the last posts...)

The Kingdom of Prussia will reintergrate the people of Hanover with all true Germans. We shall be united in our efforts to destroy the meddlesome French, barbarous Russians, traitorous Bavarians and collapsing Austrians. Deutschland uber alles!

OOC: @Doombunny, the king that declared war on me won't be reinstated but a relative of his will be, someone a bit more docile. :p

The King of Spain shall put forth the following law draft, before the constitutional assembly.

Ley de la administración regional

I - Recognizing the vastness of the territories of Spain, and the diversity of it's people, it is the goal of this law to be able to provide a better government to all the people of Spain, to provide conditions for a wiser and more effective rule.

Article 1 (Regionalizacion)

Spain will be divided into several administrative regions (consult Appendix A). These regions will be of two types.

Type 1 : This includes all Continental Spain. Regions of this type will be able to elect the local government, which will in turn appoint it's representatives to the Constitutional Assembly.

Type 2 : This includes Spanish territories in Cuba, Africa, and our Pacific holdings. The government will be appointed, but the population will be able to choose representatives to the Assembly (they must fulfill the requisites detailed in appendix F).

Constitutional representatives's distribution by region is based on a weighted sum of population and region type, and it can be consulted in Appendix B.

Article 2 (Estatutos de las regiones)

Regions of Type 1 will see it's local government delegated with authority to oversee basic education, the administration of justice for low-to-medium gravity criminal offenses (Appendix C details which crime categories are the responsibility of local authorities), urban planning, maintenance and development of basic municipal infrastructure (as outlined in Appendix D), and enforcement of federal law.

The local government will have access to 25% of the revenues for use in projects within the region (categories of projects eligible for such use of the revenues are outlined in Appendix E), under inspection of federal authorities, who will perform an yearly inspection of the accounting of every Type 1 region.

Regions of Type 2 will see it's local government delegated with authority to oversee the administration of justice for low gravity criminal offenses (Appendix C), the maintenance and development of infrastructure, urban planning and enforcement of federal law.

The local government will have access to 10% of the revenues for use within the region (as detailed in Appendix E), under inspection from federal authorities, in a 2 to 5 year regime.

Article 3 (Indivisibilidad y integridad del territorio)

The currently outlined regions will be considered an integral and indivisible part of the Spanish Nation. Any changes to the borders and category of such regions must be approved by a super-majority in the Constitutional Assembly.

In those troubled times Ottoman Empire offers stability, large internal market and government contracts. At this very moment private entrepreneurs are constructing Izmit Ereģli railway line to connect Istanbul with growin coal fields. Dutch state railway company have agreed to invest large capital to connect Istanbul with Baghdad. Those are only few of examples how investement in OE can be mutually beneficial for both sides.

To satisfy needs of modernization and rearmament of Ottoman Army state offers contract for 100 000 small rifles and 5000 field guns, of quality equal to those produced in Springfield Armory or Manufacture d'Armes de Mutzig.

OOC: All alliances? That seems a little harsh?
 
OOC: It would probably be best to just have mass public outrage at any new alliances/declarations of war against major powers.
 
OOC: Thing is that war between major powers was rarer than it will be in game, due to every player being some degree of hyper aggressive neo imperialist.

OOC: Many player are playing small countries that could be counted as medium powers, not being dominant power even in region, not talking about World power. Vietnam, Colombia, Denmark even Spain/Netherland/OE.
