The United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway grant recognition of the government of Taiping. As such, the our nations diplomatic staff is currently dispatching a diplomatic delegation to Nanjing to set an embassy. It appears to our government that the recognition of the Taiping government will lead to the swiftest conclusion of this conflict that is wasting millions of human lives. Though it is concerned of the claims of the divinity made by the Emperor of Taiping, we realize that in time such concerns will be addressed. May the conflict in Asia soon end just as the bloody war in North America has.

The United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway also grant recognition to the government of the Confederate States of America pending the final treaty of peace between its nation and the United States of America. Europe

In the United Republics of Ireland, the central Dublin Government announces that they will ramp up the printing presses to try and pay off the government's debt. Overall, three thousand five hundred Irish Marks are printed, crashing the young countries currency. However, even with the crashed currency, the government pays off the debt completely. When the Irish Government tries to pledge that anyone whom the Irish government took food or land from will have it reimbursed, many people break out in open riot and say they are doing nothing of the sort, and just want to pacify them. A huge increase in Unionist sentiment sweeps through Northern Ireland, where the group, All the King's Men, rises up and pledges allegiance to the Crown of England.

The Irish Government tries to launch an initiative that will encourage Irishmen to play Irish sports. Such a thing goes down in flames as bureaucrats pocket the money. [-235 Irish Marks from Ireland.]

Soldiers around Ireland dispatch to positions where a possible British landing could take place, only for a shipment from the Worker's Commonwealth of Arms, Munitions, and Money, bound for the Irish Marxist Party to be intercepted. The Irish, once again, tried to execute the Communists, but this time they were able to put up a fierce resistance, killing the small detachment of Irish soldiers, and establishing a beachhead to spread Communism to Ireland.

However, in Ulster, the group, All the King's Men, rises up and proclaims the land owned by the British Crown. This resistance group roams Ulster, killing civilians loyal to the Irish Government, and getting into a series of fights with the Irish Army. [-5,000 Regulars from Ireland.]

In the British Isles, a surge of Marxist Troops flood out of England and rush northwards, before they are stopped and cut-off by the British 4th Army in Sheffield. Meeting outside the city of Derby, the Monarchist and Communist forces engage in a fierce firefight, before the English Army finally overtook them mid-day, pushing them back to Nottingham. The British Army outside Manchester decides to stage a drive South, hoping to use the River Trent to their advantage. Upon advancing to Stoke, a Marxist scout sounded the alarm, which brought a weak communist defense against the Army's advancements. Circling around them, the British Light Cavalry forced the Communists to retreat after making it seem like they had more numbers than they really did. The British Army marched into Birmingham almost unopposed, until they were attacked from the East by a large Marxist Army, 50,000 strong, that was recently raised in Southern England. These die-hard Marxist troops were firm believers in the ideology, and they savagely attacked the British. The British were forced to retreat, and made a heading Northeast towards Leicester. The British 2nd and 3rd Armies, stationed in Cardiff and Liverpool respectively, marched into England near the Welsh border, and was able to take control of some sparsely populated towns. British charity, by handing out food and clothing to the impoverished citizens, greatly raised the hopes of the British people that the King was here to crush the revolution, and restore order to the British Isles. Chairman Karl Marx begins to implement the Chamber of People's Deputies, a democratically elected assembly where any man or woman, regardless of any types of class structure or wealth, is allowed to vote anyone into office they wish. This new legislative body drafts the Constitution of the Worker's Commonwealth, which promotes freedom and equality for every single person. As a show of good faith, Charmain Marx works alongside laborers laying a new railway in newly conquered lands, sweating with them, and showing that no one has special privileges. King Edward tours the new frontlines of the Civil War, and is aghast at the situation. Muddy encampments dominate the landscape, as ragged British soldiers slowly trod around, asking for any help they can get. The King agrees, and passes out Tobacco, Chocolate, anything he could find to try and raise the moral of the soldiers. News from the rest of the Royal Family comes in, all of it is bad news. However, citizens noticing the general concern and care of their king are uplifted by this, and the country pulls together because of the string of recent victories against the Communists. In France, Emperor Napoleon III announces that all the abandoned guns from the recent War will be swept up and send to factories to retool and reverse engineer them. Hundreds of soldiers scour the countryside and take control of several Krupp Guns, where the French use them and make them the standard of all the French Army. The growing French Economy continues to rebound as more investment pours into the nation, spurring individual growth. This, along with slight advancements in technology, gives investors a reason to trust the French economy even more, increasing the value of the Franc. [+40 Base Income to France. Kaiser Frederich meets with Catholics and Protestants clergy in Berlin, in an effort to try and settle the lasting differences between the two factions. The Kaiser issues an ultimatum to the Catholics, agree to be a German in the German Empire, and their religious beliefs will be tolerated. However, the other German Nation, the Austrian Empire, goes about unity a different way. The Austrian Bill of Rights is established, heavily modeled after the American Bill of Rights. It establishes Freedom of Religion, Speech, Press and Assembly. However, one of the most interesting provisions was added by the Kaiser personally, that stated the powers of the Aristocrats are severely weakened, and the Austrian Army will enforce this document at all costs. Determined to try the new law, several German landowners from Croatia renegade against the law, and the Austrian Army sends in German Soldiers to protect the minorities in that area. The Austrian Government announces that The Imperial Council of War is created in Vienna to try and streamline production and industry in the Empire, however, it also doubled as a propaganda machine, churning out information to motivate the Austrian people against the German forces that were occupying the lands in Bohemia. The War between Austria and Germany took a turn for the worse in the eyes of the German Generals. The Austrian Army defending Vienna received two columns of reinforcements, and two shock armies were created, commanded by the best Generals known in Austria. German spies understood this as "Operation Vienna Watch", thinking that they would be focused on Vienna, so they moved away from their planned offensive against the Vltava river, only to be surprised when the two massive shock armies broke out of Vienna, and surged en masse against the German forces, causing them to be trapped against the banks of the Vltava River, unable to cross effectively, and General Von Moltke was forced to surrender himself and his entire Army of the Austrian forces in order to try and protect the lives of his men, who would be slaughtered on the river bank to now tactical or strategic advantage. The Shock Army crossed the River, and soon reclaimed many towns occupied by the Germans, pushing all the way up to the border of Saxony, where they were forced to settle down because of the winter months, but nevertheless, Austrian soldiers had begun to occupy German lands by Christmas of 1863.

The second Shock Army surged out of Vienna into Bohemia, only to be meet with a retreating German Army, suspicious of their behavior, they kept their eyes out for any movements by the German Army, until they tried to turn about at Böhmisch Budweis, only for the Austrian Army to engage them in fierce combat, forcing them to retreat and withdraw to Prauge for real, with the Austrian Army close behind them. On the Italian Front, Austria surges Soldiers into the area, where fierce fighting in the Apennine Mountains mountains force the Italians back even further, overtaking rudimentary defenses and surging into the Italian mainland. The Italian Government, intent on drumming up propaganda, sends the former King, Vittorio Emanuele, on a "Death Charge" against the frontlines of the Austrians. The former King, however, raises the White Flag halfway to the Austrians and offers his services, as well as the rest of his regiments, to the Austrian Army. He is given the rank of a Brigadier General, and is given a Corps to command. In Italy, draconian measures are adopted to try and swing the country to victory. As the Austrian Army pushes to the gates of Rome, the Italian Government brings women into factories to run them as more men are brought into the Army. Furthermore, the Government mandates that any able bodied man report for conscription into the Army, and if they don't they will be tried for treason. Many do sign up, but the rest refuse, causing in the Italian Government to jail massive amounts of people, and even resorted to killing people who disagreed with their decisions. 2. Frontlines of the Austro-Italian War.

In Poland, several Russians agents were found trying to stir up dissent among the aristocrats. This international incident put the German Empire and the Russian Empire on the edge of war before Russia agreed to pull out all influence from Poland and abandon any more attempts on controlling that territory.

The Russian Tsar announces that more industry is to be developed outside Moscow and St. Petersburg. [+2 Industry to Russia in 1 turn. -350 Russian Roubles from Russia.]

Farms in Russia are given a huge economic relief as the Russian Government announces a whole new system of purchasing and selling crops to the Government. This increased economic liberation helps move the sluggish economy along. [+30 Base Income to Russia.]

The Polish Government announces that half of all large landowners land was to be given to the Polish Government, and with this land, a call for all the Poles living inside Germany to return to a true Polish state is sent out, resulting in a mass migration of Poles from Eastern Germany. The Polish immigrants establish new towns, new cities, and work together as more Germans move into former Polish settlements in Germany. Up North in Scandinavia, The Kingdom of Sweden signs trade agreements with Germany and the United States, as well as sending out a vast new propaganda campaign aimed at the citizens of Norway and Sweden, promoting a greater integration of the two systems of governments under one mantel. In Denmark, the King tries to declare a new Healthcare Law, but the Aristocrats in control of the Government deny him the right, even when he opens up royal lands for the Aristocrats to buy. However, the King, determined to reign over his country, establishes a security institution for himself with the profits from the sale of royal lands.

North America

The Treaty of Philadelphia is signed between the United States of America and the Confederate States of America in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, fully ending the War of Confederate Independence. The treaty states the following;

1. The Confederate States of America shall be composed of the territories and states of: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and the Indian Territory.

2. The US and CSA shall allow a plebiscite to be held in the states and territories of: Western Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, Missouri, and the Arizona Territory.

3. The US shall pay the amount of 1,500 gold to the CSA as compensation for the damages done to Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina.

4. The US and CSA shall respect the outcome of the plebiscites and will revoke any and all claims upon the lands composed of the other.

Responding to this, both sides stepped away and watched the voting take place. But the Fall of 1863, the results had come in from all five areas in question. Western Virginia had voted to stay with the Confederate States of America, along with Maryland-and with it Washington D.C.-opted to stay with the Confederacy. However, Kentucky, Missouri, and the Arizona Territory all voted overwhelmingly to stay with the Union.

In the west, the United States Congress announces that the states of Nevada and Nebraska are going to be accepted into the Union, both states immediately elect a Republican legislature to the Congress, off setting the major Copperhead Democrat majority.

While debating an infrastructure package, a railroad out on the Pacific Coast, the Copperhead Democrats finally wrestle control of the floor from the Republicans, who had held a filibuster for the past few months, and called a resolution condemning the British actions in Hawaii. The resolution passes, and many Democrats pressure President Lincoln to ask for a declaration of war. However, the President reaffirms his commitment to peace, reiterating the fact that they just came off a terrible war, and that to plunge into another one would be extremely foolish. 3. The United States Congress debating War against the United Kingdom.

In the Confederate States, a huge celebration breaks out throughout the nation as gold hits the Confederate coffers, as hundreds of citizens flood the Confederate offices, asking to exchange their paper money for hard money. The Confederate Government agrees as it releases a modest sum of money, greatly shoring up their currency. [-500 Gold from the CSA. Confederate Dollar now worth .60 Gold.]

Now that the war is over in the Confederacy, the army is dramatically shrunk in size as Drafted men are sent back to their farms and homes. This responds in an uptick of economic activity in the Confederacy, slowly rebuilding itself. [+50 Base Income to the CSA. -506,000 Conscripts from the CSA.]

With the blockade finally over, the Confederate States announces their first trade partner will be the Kingdom of Spain. Spanish ships sail into Confederate ports and offload much needed goods, while taking much needed cotton back to Europe. The resulting influx of cotton spurns industry on in Spain. In Guatemala, the Government announces that Central American states will now have tariff boundaries lowered to near zero between them, but for outside countries, the tariffs are to be raised. Responding to this, the British-held Belize protests against the British Government and proclaims that they are the Republic of Belize, and promptly ask for annexation into the Confederacy of Guatemala-El Salvador. South America

The Spanish Armada off the coast of Brazil swoops towards the country and initiates a blockade of the major ports, with the demand being compensation for the ships the Brazilians sunk, to be paid in gold, and an official apology for the injustices they committed to the Spanish. Tensions flared between the two countries, as Brazilian Warships engaged the Spanish Armada time and time again, trying to dislodge them from the coast, to no avail. Even with the blockade, seven Confederate-flagged Warships, three large wooden vessels, 3 small commerce raiders, and a small ironclad, sailed into Rio de Janeiro under the auspices of a friendly visit. However, when the Spanish Admiral saw only one commerce raider, the CSS Alabama, leaving with an abnormally large amount of people on it, the Spanish expected the worst and sailed into port, under heavy coastal artillery, where they noticed the six Confederate ships resting in harbour, with Brazilian flags flying on their masts. Wasting no time, the Spanish opened fire on all six ships, knowing they were unmanned and could no put up a defense. The first major explosion came from the Ironclad CSS Stonewall, what was going to be the pride of the Brazilian Fleet, until the Spanish Armada sent a shell down her funnel, into her magazine casing and blew the ship up from the inside out, killing four people on board. The rest of the fleet was left sinking in the harbour, with the other two commerce raiders having their sides blown out, and the three large ships capsizing and sinking to the bottom of the harbour. However, the coastal gunners were able to exact their toll by taking some of the Spanish ships out of commission. Coming off of this major embarrassment, the Brazilian Emperor's call for citizens to join the army is severely blunted, as only a few thousand sign up to defend the Brazilian homeland. [+8,000 Conscripts to Brazil.]

4. Members of the Fatherland Volunteers awaiting attack.

In Paraguay, the Government announces the expansion of industry and a new rail network. However, the allotted money was far to small to make any difference. The money that was going to go to these improvements quickly ends up in the pockets of bureaucrats and other special interests. [-10 Gold from Paraguay]

A massive drive for funds is undertaken in Paraguay, as citizens empty their pockets to help their homeland, the Government uses it to enter into talks with some high-ranking European officers. Several agree to aid Paraguay, notably the High Commander of the German General Staff and the French Master General send aide and information to Paraguay. The Government of Paraguay calls out to all men of Paraguay, to try and rally them to fight against the Brazilian menace, framing them as the biggest threat to South American peace. He calls for every man available to hold a rifle should be conscripted into the Army. A series of 4 drafts are set up, with one happening every six months. The first one yields great success as thousands and thousands flock to defend their homeland from Brazilian aggression. [+45,000 Conscripts to Paraguay.]

Fortifications are built along the Paraguay-Brazil border by the Paraguayan Army, in an effort to try and stop any Brazilian incursion into their country. [+1 Infrastructure to Paraguay. -50 Gold from Paraguay.]

The first land engagement of the War of the Triple Alliance occurred in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, where 21,000 Paraguayans surged across the border to be meet with 10,000 Brazilians. The Battle of the Wilderness took place over two days, where the Brazilians were severely beaten back in the face of the overwhelming forces of Paraguay. Quickly taking to the retreat, the Paraguayans chased after the Brazilians, inflicting more casualties and taking prisoners in this unorganized retreat. The Argentine Government sent funding to republican separatists in Rio Grande do Sul, hoping to re-spark the recent revolution there, with great success. Riot broke out in the streets as the Second Republic of Rio Grande do Sul is proclaimed Porto Alegre, and they immediately sign a trade agreement and a military alliance with Argentina and Paraguay. Argentina and France finalize portions of a treaty, promoting unity between the two nations. French military advisers appear in Buenos Aires and their teachings spark off a whole new thinking on military matters in the Argentine Army. [+1 Army Level to Argentina.]

Propaganda rises up throughout Brazil and Argentina, championing the Argentine cause of freedom and democracy, and vilifying the Emperor as pro-Slavery and pandering to the nobles and slaveholders. Up north in Colombia, the Government sends out an ambitious initiative that will give Government support to anyone that finds new materials that can be used to grow the economy. Venezuela and Colombia try to work out a trade agreement, which falls apart after a long period of haggling between the two countries.

A new education programme, modeled after Ireland's, comes into effect in Colombia, which costs a lot of money, with little long-term benefits noticed. [-670 Colombian Pesos from Colombia.]

A new Railway company is founded in Colombia, with the intention of running a track throughout the major coal mines and cities. The amount needed to build everything spirals out of control for the Colombians as they lurch into debt. [-200 Colombian Pesos from Colombia.]

Africa

In Northern Africa, the French re-enter the country with a surprising force. Hoping to use the lay of the land to their advantage, the Algerians forget that the French once owned all of Algeria, and have the entire place completely mapped out. The French crush all Algerian resistance and proclaim the Emirate dissolved and Algeria once again a colony of France. [+40 Base Income to France.]

Belgian ships arrive at the base of the River Congo, where they set up a small base camp, and proclaim the area around the river to be property of the King of Belgium.

A French ship arrives off the Horn of Africa, where a small trading base is established, and a colony created, with the intention of bringing more income and goods to the French mainland. [+5 Trade Balance to France.]

Just a little south, the Cape Republic's leader decides to try and sell the entire country out to the British, causing a rift between two factions. One Pro-Dominion and one Pro-Independence. The Pro-Independence group is by far the largest, with a minority government controlling Cape Town and calling it the capitol of the Cape Colony. Elsewhere, the Cape Republic elects a new leader, a Boer, and allows Boer troops from the South African Republic into his nation to try and keep the peace, which they do a surprisingly good job at. The government in Cape Town calls this a blatant invasion.

The small Qing presence in the area results in the complete collapse of Chinese governance in the area, with the Taiping taking great advantage of the situation by sweeping in and proving government for the areas in Southern China.
