OOC: Who doesn't doom have his sights set on. If it wasn't for the Taiping Rebellion I would have so smashed him back into the sea through human waves. Or at least tried.
As France is one of ever fewer major nations focused on internal development, defense of our lands and possessing a strong stability we are a very inviting target for private investment and skilled workers. France has its eye on the future and to that end is working to open our markets to exotic goods and materials as well as set ourselves as a strong export capable nation. As evidenced by our treaties with nations all over the globe and improved relations with those nations and their many different religions and peoples we are a very open minded people. The best way for the Throne to improve the lives of the people in France is to avoid being close minded. If history has taught us any lessons it is that innovations and scientific advancements can often come from unexpected directions.

Sadly the exact thing we warned about have happened. Technically 6 of those 35 ships were already Argentine and if Spain were escorting them, it was a breach of blocade. Hadn't Argentine already paid for them Brazilians would be in very hard situation. Unluckly for them enforcement of blocade have cost them dearly and Spain's entry in war isn't balanced by another European power perhaps too much. Our offer still stands if Brazilian Monarch are interested.

The Kingdom of Spain would like to clarify that, while the contract was already signed, the ships were only paid after they docked in Argentina.
We do not wish to see this war escalated, and have already issued a peace proposal without any gains for Spain due to this unfortunate incident.

We would happily sign trade agreements with the Italians when the situation stabilize.
However, we refuse to pay anything to the Spanish government, you are the responsible for the destruction of ships from both sides, we have no reason to pay for something that we are not to be blamed for.

France is willing to consider payment for the return of Nice and after peace returns to our neighbor we are willing to work towards a treaty of trade and reconciliation. We expect no breakthroughs on this diplomatic front but perhaps a Franco-Italian treaty could be worked out side by side with an Italian-Austrian peace deal.
