Great Britain? The keeper of peace? They started a pointless war against Qing and Hawaii! How is that peaceful?

Qing insulted us, and as such we were forced to defend our honour as any true Gentleman would. The Hawaiians started our conflict with them, by savagely consuming a foraging party from one the ships sent as a diplomatic mission to them.

OOC: Qing insulted me, what else was I meant to do?

OOC: Ask them to APOLOGISE and not OUTRIGHT DECLARE WAR ON THEM/

OOC: You really have no idea of 19th century diplomacy do you? I did ask, deliberately in such a way that Qing would refuse and I would get a CB.

OOC: Technically I never refused I just couldn't apologise in a way you wanted me to so you never got a CB so you got stacks of Infamy and your people view the Government in Britain hate for being aggressive warmongers and so you'll lose the election get kicked out and someone more sensible will come in (In game at least though even with a change of government it'll likely do nothing to affect your behaviour.)

OOC: You refused to apologise, not my fault if you got attacked over it. Not to mention that you're a savage, so I don't particularly need any other reason to take your land.

OOC: No you didn't outright refuse but you didn't accept either, and anyway even if you had accepted the government would make it sound like you had refused. He wouldn't get stacks of Infamy and as for losing the next election this probably just made him more popular.

OOC: No, you didn't outright refuse but you didn't accept either, and anyway even if you had accepted the government would make it sound like you had refused. He wouldn't get stacks of Infamy and as for losing the next election this probably just made him more popular.

OOC: I know you didn't refuse but in the end you didn't apologize either.

OOC: You said some rubbish about a peasant with a crown being above His Majesty's Government. I took that as a refusal.

Anyway, enough OOC.

OOC: I am just trying to prevent Ireland from becoming a failed state like Doombunny always said.

OOC: I do believe Fry said before that the only thing the people of Britain care about is the Civil War currently on-going in Britain. So, no, actually, chances are he won't get kicked out in the election, at least not over attacking ruthless savages that no one in Europe actually gives a damn about anyways.

OOC: Fry, do you have a new ETA on the update?

My old ETA still stands. Updating that it would be 1 to 5 hours.

OOC: Seeing as the old one gave 24 hours as the max, I would think not.

EDIT: Fry beat me to it by about 5 seconds...

In the United Republics of Ireland, the Irish Government announces that a grandiose new education plan was to be enacted. Both males and females would be offered free education until the age of 12, where the males would be able to advance to a higher education afterwords, along with a myriad of other plans, that would simply make Ireland the most educated nation in Europe, and the world. The plan passes the Irish Congress by an overwhelming vote, but at great cost to the countries finances. [+30 Income per turn to Ireland. -£750 from Ireland.]

In the British Civil War, the pocket of Monarchist resistance in Southern England finally collapses after a series of ferocious fights between the Communists and the Monarchists. In Northern England, the largest battle thus far was at the Siege of Liverpool, where the Communist defenders tried to rally the last of their support, until their supply lines were cut off from the rear, and the port blockaded by the British Royal Navy. The siege lasted an impressive three months, while the Communists stood firm, and even surged out of the city in an attempt to re-open their supply lines, to no avail. The Italian-Austrian War proves to be disastrous as the Italian soldiers are pushed back, with their defenses melting away in the face of the superior Austrian armies, as they push farther and farther into the Italian Mainland. 3. The Austro-Italian Front in the summer of 1863.

The Austrians, their manpower needed elsewhere, removes a bulk of the Italian invasion force in June of 1863, sending them Northwards towards Prauge, to try and stop the advancing German Armies. This is largely effective as a German feint towards Linz is seen and the Austrians bunker down along the Austrian-Bohemian borders, with the Germans seizing control of Bohemia, and sending a large force into Slovakia in an attempt to pacify them and get them on their side. Their promise is Independence from Austria if they rise up against the Austrians. These ships where quickly brought back to port in Austria, where they were manned with Austrian crews, and new Austrian flags. At the same time, a detachment of Prussian ships sailed into the Adriatic to try and raid the Austrian coast, and disrupt Austrian shipping. General Grant's old Army, now reorganized into the Army of the Ohio was reinforced by militia units and soon set off under the control of General Ambrose Burnside, towards Memphis, Tennessee. However, the Army of Trans-Mississippi, headed by the very able General Albert Sydney Johnston, made a direct path towards Missouri, with the intent on trying to capture the state for the Confederacy. However, understanding that the Army of the Ohio was going to try and capture Memphis again, General Johnston removed his forces from Kentucky and loaded his Army on the Memphis & Ohio Railroad, to take part in the defense of Memphis. The resulting Battle of Memphis came after the Union Army crossed the Mississippi River at Fort Pillow, quickly capturing it, and then pushing southwards towards Memphis. General Johnston set up a ringed defense, with reserve corps of Black Infantry ready to pour out and attack the assaulting Union lines with yet another assault.

While a slight Union advantage was gained in the Trans-Mississippi theater, the Army of Northern Virginia, recently bolstered by new black conscripts, surged outwards from Gettysburg towards Philadelphia. The Army of the Susquehanna, General Winfield S. Hancock commanding, was now facing General Thomas J. Jackson, a notoriously brutal General. News from President Lee of Sherman's March to the Sea reached General Jackson, and he, thinking quickly, decided to emulate such a maneuver. The Army of Northern Virginia proceeded to start burning fields, farms, and looting and pillaging the towns and villages they came across. The XI Corps of the Army of the Susquehanna was dispatched to try and find the Army of Northern Virginia. The Battle of York was the most brutal and worrisome affair, that struck fear into the hearts of Northerners. York, Pennsylvania laid along the Susquehanna River, and the Confederate troops razed the town to the ground, and engaged the XI Corps on the southern back of the river, where they enveloped them, and by explicit orders from General Jackson to "Kill every Yankee Devil", the entire XI Corps, soldiers, officers, cooks, servants, and all were slaughtered and their bodies thrown into the river.
