Europe

In Britain, the Civil War proves to show the iron will of both sides. Neither sides seems willing to give up any ground. An urgent message sent by the Monarchy to Scotland rallies all the Scottish men to help preserve the United Kingdom, and Marxist control in that area is crushed, resulting in a completely Marxist-free Scotland. These new conscripts pledge their Loyalty to the United Kingdom, and dedicate themselves to acting as a police force for Scotland. [Scotland free from Marxist rule, under control of the Monarchy.]

In response to this huge surge of support, the Monarchy leaves southern England by means of the Royal Navy and goes to Edinburgh Castle, where the flag of the United Kingdom now flies atop the majestic castle, acting as the temporary capital of the Monarchist British Government.

A move by the Marxist Worker's Commonwealth greatly backfires as they try to cement control in Southern England. The People's Liberation Army roles through the lower countries, slaughtering and killing hundreds because they are "Reactionary Scum". The local population rises up against the roaming bands of Marxists, killing many of them, and pushing Marxist control northwards towards London.

The Marxist Government tries to nationalize the railroads, but are unable to achieve any sort of true control. Most of the railroad owners in Britain remain loyal to the Monarchy, and begin to order their own railroad lines torn up, blown up, or put into a state of disrepair. These attempts are generally successful, with miles and miles of track becoming unusable in central England. [-1 Infrastructure from the Worker's Commonwealth]

The Marxists call for more soldiers to be trained, and thousands flock to the recruitment centres in the big cities. [+30,000 Regulars to the Worker's Commonwealth in 2 turns.]

Two frontlines have been clearly drawn, with the Marxists controlling most of Central England and Northern Wales, with the Monarchy controlling everything else. However, the Monarchist support in Southern England is somewhat weak, and the soldiers there are not that well supplied.

In the Low Countries, the Netherlands launches a massive invasion of Belgium, with the stated goal of annexing the Dutch-speaking area of Flanders. Surprisingly, both the Walloons and the Flemish rise together as Belgians to fight this invasion force. Only a few miles into the border, the Dutch invasion looses steam and incurs massive casualties. News reaches across the country, angering many people that such an action was undertaken. Attempts by the Dutch Government to improve infrastructure stumbles along, although a large amount of money is spent doing so, exposing the corrupt and inefficient nature of their government. [+1 Infrastructure in 2 turns to the Netherlands. -£150 from the Netherlands]

The Italian King orders a full scale, massive mobilization of the entire country to fight on the French and Austrian fronts. This move is very successful, but the economy quickly sagged under the burden of providing weapons, salaries, and simply having these people away from their fields and homesteads. The recent drag on the economy was worsened when the Italian King announced a massive construction project of three new iron-clad ships, alongside a building project for new governmental buildings, and the construction of new roads. Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph narrowly escapes an attempt on his life by an Italian agent. The Italian was smuggled into the country through Austria's Adriatic sea ports, where he then made his way up into Vienna, where he attempted to lay rudimentary gunpowder explosives under a path where the Emperor frequently traveled. The Austrian Police found the man, who, pleading for his life, stated he was sent by the Italian government to kill the Emperor, and he showed the police the money from the Italian Government. Emperor Franz Joseph was furious at such an outrage, and thousands of Austrians rallied to defend their Empire. [+30,000 Conscripts for Austria.]

The Austrian Empire offers a treaty of limited autonomy to the Serbs and Croats, where they were able to crown their own King, but Emperor Franz Joseph was still recognized as the legal head of state of the new Kingdom of Croats and Serbs. The Kingdom of Serbia to the south, eager to try and establish a control over this area, agreed to leave the realm of independence, and was annexed into the Kingdom of Croats and Serbs. The Prince of Serbia, Mihailo Obrenović, was then crowned King of the Croats and Serbs, and agreed to pledge his loyalty to the Austrian Empire. [+15,000 Serbian Regulars to the Austrian Empire.]

The Austrian Empire, desperate to try and quell the fears of it's population, ordered a massive opening of the treasury, spending massive amounts of money across the country to invest in anything and everything. Peasants soon found that the land they worked on was bought by the Imperial Government, and then it was given to them. Although it was a massive undertaking that nearly bankrupted the Empire, a never before seen economic explosion took place in the Empire, vaulting it to one of Europe's strongest economies. The Austrian Emperor shelved a planned railroad from Vienna to Budapest due to the lack of money inside the national coffers.

The Austrian-Italian front exploded with activity, as fresh Austrian troops surged into the area. On March 18th, 1862, the city of Venice fell to the Austrian forces once again, where the Italian Navy had docked one of their ships for repair. The Austrian Army quickly captured and took control of the ship, re-establishing the Austrian Navy. The Italians were pushed back to the Austrian-Italian border, where they began to dig in, fearful of the advancing Austrian Army.

The Russian Army under the direct order to try and assault Posen, Prussia, enters into Congress Poland, which had only recently declared independence and was in revolution, greatly hampers the Russian's efforts. By the time the Russian Army reached Warsaw, Congress Poland, they had already suffered five thousand casualties from the Polish Partisans. The determined Russian commander pushed forward, determined to drive his army straight to Berlin. Unfortunately, sometime after crossing into Prussia, his supply line collapsed, and he was forced to surrender his entire force to the Polish Partisans, who stripped the army of everything valuable. [-50,000 Regulars from Russia.]

The emboldened Polish move into Posen and declare it independent and a part of the new Republic of Poland. This was the first instance of the Polish from all three of the partitioning countries rising up against their oppressors and forming a semi-coherent state, centered in Warsaw. Although the Polish first thought they would side with Prussia and help it consolidate control over the German states, the massive boost of weapons from the Russians broke their allegiance. They now fight for Poland only.

Russian Industry gets a small boost with he Tsar proclaiming a new factory is to be opened in St. Petersburg, with the intention of producing canned food for the population of the city. [+1 Industry in 2 turns for Russia. -£50 from Russia.]

France and Russia formalize a trade agreement, allowing free trade between their nations. However, neither side benefits from this because the British Royal Navy has made it a goal to sink all French and Russian ships. The Prussian Army tries to turn the tide of Russians advancing in East Prussia, but even with the aide of 35,000 troops fresh from the Hanoverian front, they are unsuccessful at dislodging the Russians, and only drive them back ten miles. Although the Austrian Armies defending the outskirts of Prague were deeply motivated by the recent events in Austria, their joyful nature lead to laxness. The Prussian Army initiated a great push into the country once again, driving the Austrians back, and forcing them to take shelter in Prague. The ruthless Prussians, do not lay off the offense, and initiate a siege of Prague, almost succeeding in cutting off the cities supplies, but inadvertently leaving on rail line intact that the Austrian Army quickly jumped on to protect.

Otto von Bismark calls a meeting of all the remaining member states of the German Confederation, and motivates them all to get into shape, and conscript as many men as they can into service to defend Germany from the hordes of Russia and France, while at the same time to motivate them for a Germany, for Germans, and not filled with non-Germans, shunning Austria. It is moderately successful as the German States offer the Prussian High Command 75,000 more soldiers. [+75,000 Conscripts for Prussia.]

The Prussian High Command, feeling that many of the conscripts on the front are worthy to become true Prussian Soldiers, hold a mass promotion, initiating many new members into the Army, and disturbing new handbooks for training. [-65,000 Conscripts from Prussia. +65,000 Regulars to Prussia.]

Under great protest, the Army General accused of having a Polish mistress refuses to resign from his post after the Prussian Government demanded it. An investigation found that the information was gained from a telegraph station that had been compromised by Bavarian forces. The entire thing was a setup, and the General bitterly vowed to crush every single Bavarian head under his iron boot. The Prussian Government, content with the results, decides to keep the man in charge, as his fury fueled the newest charge into Bavaria.

The enraged General, with great knowledge of the land, enacted a "Total War" strategy, he had anything that moved shot, and any building he saw burned. Upon discovery of street signs that had been changed to confuse them, he had an entire city set to flames and executed the local government. The rampage did not stop there. One Bavarian partisans began to use guerrilla tactics against the Prussian Army, he ordered the lush Bavarian forests to be set alight, making sure anything in a half mile radius of the Army was burned and destroyed. He slowed by the town of Nuremberg in June 1862, where he had his army loot the town, take anything of value, kill some civilians, and set it ablaze, while they camped on the outskirts of the burning city. In Spain, the Ley de la Administración Regional overwhelmingly passed the Constitutional Assembly, becoming law by a nearly unanimous vote. In response to both this, and the demonstrations by the Spanish Army, the Basque Country humbly asks the Spanish if they could once again be readmitted to the Kingdom of Spain, with no repercussions for their actions. Instead, they pledge loyalty to the Spanish crown, and issue an apology for acting rashly, pointing towards the Catalans who had pressured them to do so.

A French plot to vassalize and annex Catalonia and Basque are uncovered by the French Press, pointing to the recent French annexation of Catalonia for proof. Although enraged, several Catalans don't do anything because of the strong French presence in Catalonia.

In France, the Navy orders all remaining ships to sail back to port, concentrating in Cherbourg, the new operating Headquarters of the French Navy.

A massive order, left by Napoleon III before his capture, is enacted along every Atlantic Coastal city in France. All drydocks, large and small, begin constructing ships for the French Navy. The shattered city of Brest is ordered to be rebuilt from the ground up, becoming an impervious fortress on the sea. All around the country, thousands of citizens pitched in for the new Navy. Determined to bite back at the British, they began to work overtime, mostly unpaid, to try and restore glory to France. [-£1200 from France. +25 Large Ships in 2 turns. +100 Small Ships in 2 turns.]

The French Government also issues a massive set of loans to any and all businesses willing to expand their industry in any of France's industrial centers. Under rumors that the French Empire would collapse, Crown Prince Napoleon IV was crowned Emperor of the French, replacing Napoleon III and maintaining the Monarchy.

The Siege of Paris was initiated by the Prussian Army on May 2nd, 1862. Although they could not surround the city, they kept a close watch on their flanks, preventing any breakouts by the French Army. Their mission is to try and collapse the French moral, the sweep into Paris and negotiate for the surrender of France.

North America

The American Civil War kicked into high gear in the Trans-Mississippi Theater as the Confederate Army of Trans-Mississippi set out to attack the Union Army of Missouri. The battle was a complete disaster for the Confederates. Even with numerical superiority, the Army of Trans-Mississippi took a devastating blow by trying to attack Union positions head on. The tactical use of Cannon, and the valiant counter-attack by General Grant, both sides took heavy casualties, but the Confederate Army was forced to retreat into Arkansas, leaving Mississippi and Tennessee almost undefended. The Union was thus able to proclaim their first major victory in the War. [-10,000 Conscripts from the CSA. -6,000 Conscripts from the USA.]

5. The Battle of Second Memphis, a Confederate Defeat.

The Confederate Army of Tennessee set off on an invasion of Kentucky, expecting to find fierce opposition by the Union's Army of Kentucky, but it was not found upon arrival. The embolden Confederates, virtually unopposed, marched into the capital of Frankfort, and called a vote for secession. A few men who supported the Union, voted against secession, but the majority of the legislature was far to scared to oppose anything. Thus, the Commonwealth of Kentucky voted 139 - 11 to secede from the Union and join the Confederate States of America. Even through the Confederates did have technical control over the area, many Kentuckians remained pro-Unionist and there wasn't much of a boost for the Confederacy. The Kentucky State Militia was partially incorporated into the Army of Tennessee, with the rest remaining behind to protect the new Confederate government of Kentucky. [+5,000 Regulars to the CSA.]

The Army of Kentucky, absent in Kentucky itself, set out on a journey up the Shenandoah Valley, with General Sherman mistaking the orders by President Lincoln to try and recapture the Union Capitol, when instead the orders stated he make his way towards the Confederate Capitol. When the blunder was finally realized, General Sherman wheeled his army around, and set off for Kentucky again, wishing to dislodge the Confederates from Kentucky, a more important goal at the moment than capturing Richmond.

The Union Army of Louisiana, determined to try and strike a blow at the Confederacy, quickly move upriver using vessels from the Union Navy. Their advance is halted at the Confederate Fortress of Vicksburg, where several Ironclad gunboats and ships remained anchored, hampering any progress by the Union Navy and sinking many of them, along with the help of the Confederate's shore batteries. In response to the failed attack on Vicksburg, which the Union then retreated back to New Orleans to consolidate control over Southern Louisiana, the Confederate Government called for more men to help defend the nation's forts and garrisons. Thousands of men answered to the call, and the Confederate Government elevated Vicksburg to an "essential" part of the Confederacy, stationing a good majority of the new men conscripted to defend the City from any further attacks. The Union Army of Arizona succeeds in driving the Confederate Army of New Mexico out of the Union's Arizona and New Mexico territories at the Battle of Glorieta Pass, where the unsuspecting Confederates, hoping to advance into the western territories, meet the Army of Arizona, where the tide was turned by the Union's heavy use of both Cannon and Cavalry. The Confederates, wounded from the battle, reorganized as the Army of Western Texas, retreated into Texas, acting mostly as a deterrent to a Union invasion. We have heard news that a group of Germans in Sleschwig have rebelled and say they pledge their allegiance to Prussia. And as the King of Denmark, I ask Prussia to not recognize these rebels as their own troops. These rebels claim to be your soldiers so that they can have you help and drag our nations into a war.

We moved our troops to Sleschwig to protect the area from German rebels that wanted to "unify" with the "German Empire". We knew that conflicts between the German States would cause problems in that area, so we sent our troops there. We have seen the outcome of this action. We also sent them there to protect the citizens from Hanover. Seeing that Hanover is no longer a threat, we will no longer be needing our troops there.

We have promised to protect all Prussian and neutral nations of the Baltic's ports and ships. So far, no Baltic port has been destroyed.

I ask Prussia to not recognize these rebels as their own, they only "pledge to you" so that they can drag our nations to conflict.

I ask the rebels to stand down. Their actions have brought even more conflict and risk war with Prussia. If you do not stand down, you will be met with force of arms.

No clue.

Her Majesty's Government demands that the Persian Government return all property of the British Government or British nationals or face the consequences, which shall be extremely severe.
