Before I can post to this thread, where do screenshots of the map save to? I've located where the F11 screenshots are saved, but my F12 shots aren't there.

Check in your documents for a 'Paradox Interactive' folder, and check your base installation folder. I found mine in my documents folder.

Will do! There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for where these files are placed!

So I decided my first trial run nation for AHD would be Ethiopia. Didn't do as well as I was hoping, but hey, it was something. Westernised in 1907 in the British SoI, so I had some giggles. Sad part is I never made Secondary Power, but hey, I think I did pretty well.

Interesting bits:
Bavaria went commie, but Two Sicilies did it first, and then the French. Russia was spanked around by the Germans countless times and was in and out of the GP status. Constant wars netted the American and African nations boat loads of immigrants. The USA colonized the entire Pacific Ocean, and France and the Ottomans divided up Greece between them.
Oh, and Russia decided it could Annex Japan.

I gotta say, this was by far the funnest Vicky 2 game I've ever played. New England, 1861 start. I picked USA and released->switched to NE on Day 2, after making a status-quo peace w/ CSA. The Civil War resumed like clockwork five years later, but the CSA managed to hold out.

Conquered DR at game start, then just stayed isolationist and built industry/literacy/research. Once I got machine guns and nat/imp, I got a concession from Sokoto around which I colonized (never could get enough naval range.) Being way ahead in army tech vs. the USA led to my first war for New York (of course!) in the 1890s or so... really hard-fought because even with all the African troops I ferried over to America, the US outnumbered me 2-to-1. I allied the CSA and Mexico though, so the US sent a lot of men south while I pushed my impenetrable line forward... defense in depth style. It was awesome.

Second war for Pennsylvania was just as tough, b/c I had more troops by then but they'd almost caught up in tech. Same strategy. (Both wars were free because of that border friction acquire state CB.) The wars for the rest were easier because my acquisitions cored up and I could make tons of Yankees guards with African cav/artillery and later planes and tanks. The war vs the UK was disappointingly easy... they'd lost a few wars already to a French-led coalition of like 3/4 of Europe. The only annoying part was mopping up all the blockades.

Satisfied, I switched all my national focuses to encourage socialist loyalty, disbanded most of my navy, and managed to get them in power by the late-20s. (My mil score is really low b/c the party is pacifist, and doesn't count troops. With liberals/conservatives, it was over 2000... prolly a lot higher w/ the 400 brigs but that's just the highest I remember it.) Passed all the social reforms I could and bulldozed all the silly factories the progressives had built fin favor of all the late-game showstoppers and got really rich. Managed to max the tech tree by '34.

(Sorry if I sound too braggy--I know this isn't terribly impressive but it's a lot better than I usually do. And it's kind of an alt-history fantasy of mine to have a united New York + New England under a pacifist, socialist govt... [nevermind I had to go all colonial imperialist to get there.]) The ideology graph on the final screen is deceptive... I never made any of my African holdings into states, so about 55% of my voters were socialist by the end. :)

Got both canals (although US took the rest of Panama from Columbia afterwards, for some reason) and ended with Colombia, China, Guangxi, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mexico, and Confederate Congo sphered. CSA lost GP in the game's final year so I couldn't get them. The UK is the laughingstock of the GPs--at the end of the game, they were in another giant Europe war vs. France and Friends, and half of the home island was under occupation by Italy and Belgium.

Edit: And I wish the AI could move its capital so I could get DC! Was hoping to cut the US off from the coast entirely.

UK took New York & New England from the former USA, so I had to go to war with my longstanding ally (they helped me in many wars against the USA) to form the modern day USA under the Confederate Flag.

Banana - That's quite impressive actually, I've playde New England a few times, and utually end up just floundering around asia, or if I go after the USA, only grabbing New York at best.

Imerialist - beautiful  but what's your infamy?

Hold on - there's a New England???
The old one was, like, so 1600's. :p

(We have no such excuse for New Mexico, though)

Impressive - I don't think I've seen a conquering CSA before (although it seems like a logical goal now that you've posted it). Do you have Alaska and/or Hawaii? Is slavery allowed?

I know there were some quick mods for that (intended more for the Civil War with the CSA being the reason why the capital would have to move, but they'd probably work for New England as well), although I don't know if they're updated at all for AHD. I think it would be quite reasonable to mod in given the situation.

I have Hawaii, but not Alaska (only part of modern USA I don't have I guess), it's still under Russian control, probably due to the USA being almost destroyed around the time their meant to buy it.

Besides, it's not really worth much (as far as I know anyway), so it wasn't really a priority for me.

There was a conquering CSA posted in the Vanilla Empire thread I believe.

Yes I do, I'm waiting for demand to go over 50% of the population to be against it before I get rid of it, weirdly I haven't got any rebellions on the issue yet, is only my first AHD game, I dunno if rebellions can happen over decisions.
