Ooooh the things that start up when I ignore the forums for a few days! I've played a few FTM America games, so I should actually be able to contribute my 2 cents! I'd like a Senator pls...
Name: Senator Thomas Rudolph from Ohio
Born: 1899 (age 37)
Party: Republican (classical liberal)
Policy Points:
Foreign Policy: We must remain neutral in Europe's problems unless our security is directly threatened! I will support war on Germany only if France is conquered and Moscow threatened. Japan should be left alone unless they annex China.
Military: The most technologically, modern army, navy, and airforce is required for our security! A strong navy will defend our shores while a modern air force will give us striking power against enemies far across the globe! We should strive to have the best guns, tanks, ships and airplanes in the world. Peace can be kept only through superior firepower and technology!
Proposed Budget:
I
C Budget:
- Upgrades 0 IC They are wasteful as they will shorty become obsolete.
- Reinforcements 0.25 IC This will efficiently maintain our current units.
- Supplies 0 IC We can import all supplies using our vast resource base.
- Production Maximum IC Finish ships already under construction, then modernize the transcontinental railroad to San Diego! Any leftover IC will be spent on factories (preferably in my home state!)
- Consumer Goods 60 IC The minimum needed to keep the people happy
Leadership Budget:
- Diplomacy 0.05 This level should be sufficient for us to make necessary long term trades
- Officers 0.0 War is distant from the minds of any young man. We can more efficiently recruit officers when the threat to our homeland is greater. Doing so now would be a waste of resources!
- Intelligence 1.0 A small, long term investment into espionage against Germany, Japan, and the Soviet Union will reap intelligence in future years.
- Research 33 Focus initially on '36 - '37 industry techs (except for the resource production ones of course) For the army work towards motorized (it requires cavalry and light tanks) and medium tanks. Artillery is also a beneficial topic. Navy: CL's CV's and DD's. BB, BC, CA, and Subs can be ignored Air Force: Fighters and Strategic Bombers. Doctrines can be ignored until they have no date penalty. Except for research rate improving techs we should try not to research more than one year ahead of time!
Armed Forces Plan:
- Navy: A strong CV, CL, and DD force will achieve naval supremacy and protect against submarines. With the advent of the Carrier investments into massive battlewagons are now a waste.
- Army: Must be geared to potential overseas deployment, thus needs to be small but powerful. Tanks, Artillery, Mobile, and Marines must be our focus
- Air Force: Strategic Bombing to smash an enemy's infrastructure and industrial capacity! Fighters are necessary for their long range to escort the bombers and can dual purpose as ground attack. Interceptors, Ground Attack, and Tactical bombers can be mostly ignored.
