Liberating the Peninsula

The King maintained good relations with the foreign powers and he managed to get almost anyone to like. Fearing that Ming might betray Khmer, King Barom I decided to establish good relations with the Mongols to ensure a possible ally in case of Ming aggression.

The Muslims in Pattani were all former Buddhists and converting them was easy.

To secure the Southern Peninsula the King decided to annex the Sultanate of Malacca to his kingdom and bring Buddhism to the people.

The only resistance the Khmer armies faced were some rebels, which were quickly defeated and Malacca was annexed.

The Cham people were proven loyal to the Kingdom and the King decided to reward them by accepting their culture as part of the Khmer culture.

The Curse hits again

In May 1463 the heir to the throne Prince Dharmara died suddenly. Many believed that the Curse of Angkor had returned.

But year later another heir was born, Prince Ang Ton was named the heir to the throne from the moment he first cried.

Following the birth of another heir the Kings of Lan Xang finally gave up and united their lands with the Khmer Kingdom.

In Malacca the last of the Muslims were driven out of the peninsula and all the sole religion in Khmer was now Buddhist.

Buddhist religion and way of life had gained a large foothold in Asia due to the constant efforts to spread it by Tibet and Khmer.

The Khmer Empire is restored


It seemed that our marriages with Ming had paid of and they had joined our dynasty too and were now asking help. Well our king being so kind towards his kin he granted the help his cousins needed.
