Ah, I don't remember specifically, I just remember being annoyed while reading the changelog :P
The Japan edits are all stuff that happen PRIOR to you forming Japan, i.e. the removal of nationalism and the reduction of the base tax gain on forming Japan. None of these affect you. The only bad thing that was added is the requirement for you to border a province of a muslim/eastern/western person to enact your 'industrialise' decision, but that's a) not difficult, and b) something I genuinely forgot to put in in the first place.
