To all my readers and commenters (especially the commenters): In case I don't catch you guys tomorrow, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thank you very much for supporting this AAR and I hope you will continue to do so well into 2012.
Prince of Savoy and Nikolai: Well obviously the English, Portuguese, Dutch, Austrians and Carlist armies and navies played no role whatsoever in the Carlist victory, it was all Japan!![]()
I think its natural for histories to sometimes under or overstate the roles of certain countries in wars, and this being a Japanese history it makes sense that Japan's role would be *slightly* overrated. That being said, in our timeline Japan didn't enter the war and Felipe won. In this timeline Japan did enter the war and Carlos won. What does that tell you?
As for the Philippines, I actually find it a little amusing that you think Japan should have annexed it. Back in the good old days when the Vicky II AAR forum was in its infancy, there was this user named hoi2geek who would go around to what seemed like every AAR (that I was reading) and ask the author to "liberate" a series of countries, first and foremost among them was always The Philippines. He even "hijacked" Alexspeed's contest once asking for someone to write an AAR as the Philippines! I'm sure if he were here commenting today he'd be complaining that I passed up this chance to give the Filipinos their freedom.
Besides, had I annexed the Philippines, there would be less territories for Japan to conquer later!
morningSIDEr: Well in all honesty, if it were not for Shigenori and his wife stuffing the country up, his reign would have been quite average. As for religious tensions, they shall remain dormant for the time being.
King: Wouldn't it? I can't say anything further otherwise it will spoil the story for everyone else!
Hannibal: Neither have I! Unfortunately I feel Catholic Japan is more plausible than Protestant Japan and so it is Catholic Japan we shall see.

Russia's rise to power is definitely a concern, but fortunately the Tsar has other things to worry about than Japan.
