Blood Brothers - An Aztec Death & Taxes AAR

Hello everybody. I have decided to do an AAR. I chose to play it in D&T because I think it deserves a lot more credit than it already has. It is an awesome mod which is really fun to play, and its very active so it will keep growing. It includes the American Empires mod which I will be utilising a lot.
American Empires
Death & Taxes

An update will be coming very soon, please be aware this is my first time playing a new world country since EU3 vanilla and I might stumble a bit.

There will be peace, there will be war, there will be blood.

The Aztec Empire, 1399:

*I know it says 1409 or something but no borders have changed.

It's the green spot. At the left, you see it? Good.

I start off by deciding the decision, "Do human sacrifices." The main premises of which is to lower public order. I also raise auto send merchants to green on my province, Mexico. I will use my magistrates to get cultural tradition, and to hire out government advisers so I can get a National Idea soon.

Here's a more in depth view of my local area.

eu3game2011-09-2511-15-27-66.jpg

My first mission is to get access to the sea, to do this I attack the small kingdom bordering my south. Unfortunately one of my allies takes a province leaving me with the capital, as I cannot demand the capital I make the nation a vassal instead.

eu3game2011-09-2511-12-19-47.jpg

In the next few years I received my first colonist. I try to attack the natives but what I assume must have something to do with D&T I can not attack them, this is not bad though as you will see later.

eu3game2011-09-2511-15-27-66.jpg

10 years after having vassalised the Yopi kingdom I integrate them into my kingdom therefore getting access to the sea.

eu3game2011-09-2511-22-44-66.jpg

A cool new event (from the mod) fired for the colony, and does every now and again, reduces native aggressiveness and ferocity and has a chance of raising the base tax.

eu3game2011-09-2511-23-44-86.jpg

I go to war and vassalise the Tlaxcla kingdom, near my new colony.

eu3game2011-09-2511-32-00-13.jpg

The great thing about vassals in the mod is I often get events where the vassal tributes me and I get gold. I forgot to get screenies though.

I forgot to get screenies of the rest. So... I colonized a sea province to the south and went to war with the eastern tribe and gained a province from them.

Aztecs in 1425:

My name on the map :D

Thanks for reading!

I've been staying away from Death and Taxes because of the ugly map, but maybe after reading an AAR about it I'll get used to it.

inspired by this AAR i recently completed a Michoacan>Aztec>Mexico game, and it was really awesome.
So please continue with this, it could be a great AAR

I'll follow this, though I have no experience with mods for EU3.

Your pictures are a bit weird. You seem to have "integrating Yopi" duplicated and one which I suppose is a map is missing completely...

I changed the integrating Yopi one, all the others seem to work fine for me.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Chapter 2

Welcome back people, sorry for the wait.

1427 - a cool event stopping my vassalisation with tlaxcla and giving me a core on them, you can guess what happens next. OPM + me = nomnomnom

eu3game2011-10-0913-44-01-00.jpg

1430 - I colonise a little province by sea. :)

eu3game2011-10-0913-47-27-82.jpg

Soon after I declare war on Tlaxcla, I think I had a truce with them.

eu3game2011-10-0913-48-14-69.jpg

War:

eu3game2011-10-0913-48-35-40.jpg

I get it, not a hard fight.

I get a core event on a northern tribe and promptly annex them.

eu3game2011-10-0913-50-20-75.jpg

A little event getting rid of my leader, although he was good.

eu3game2011-10-0914-11-37-70.jpg

I vassalize a western tribe:

eu3game2011-10-0914-08-19-70.jpg

I vassalize a northern tribe.

eu3game2011-10-0914-41-54-18.jpg

So I have missed out a lot of important screenies but I got to temple level in govt, fort + barracks in land tech, I integrated the northern tribe and colonised a rich province up north:

eu3game2011-10-0915-02-52-33.jpg

I would have chosen the idea that gets me extra colonists, but I need more naval + trade tech so I got the extra tax one for now.

eu3game2011-10-0915-12-45-40.jpg

I intergrate the western tribe leaving me with a (newly formed) Maya as a neighbour.

eu3game2011-10-0915-13-03-10.jpg

I get a mission to conquer teotilan so... I conquer it.

eu3game2011-10-0915-14-44-33.jpg

A cliffhangar:

eu3game2011-10-0915-15-59-18.jpg

Until next time, keep safe and remember: keep sacrificing humans!

Native Americans are always fun. :) First time I'll be properly following a D&T AAR, looks interesting so far.

Great...I'm really enjoying your AAR. Keep it up.

Sorry I haven't had an update lately, it was my birthday on the weekend so I was mainly going around visiting family. I will definitely do an update by the end of tomorrow, if I don't you can take away all of my virtual cookies.

Chapter 3

Welcome back my friends!

If you recall, last time I left you with a glimpse of a coming war  Not to worry! AI is easy to beat, especially when they have no military maintenance!

eu3game2011-10-2612-12-35-22.jpg

I peace them for money and removal of cores, I did not take any land because I dont want to take the 4 BB.

I get the mission to vassalize Huastec, allied with Maya, so I DOW.

eu3game2011-10-2612-17-32-43.jpg

I win, vassalize them and ask Maya to realease another tribe.

eu3game2011-10-2612-25-25-35.jpg

I get a lovely event again, giving me cores on all of Huastec, dropping our relations and cancelling his vassalship and alliance.

eu3game2011-10-2612-25-25-35.jpg

eu3game2011-10-2612-32-29-80.jpg

Suprisingly, I win (Maya did not join this time) and annex them all up!

eu3game2011-10-2612-34-14-48.jpg

I get a mission to take one of Mayas provinces so I.... guess what?

eu3game2011-10-2612-37-18-20.jpg

Yes, I take it AND I release another tribe.

That tribe calls me into a war with Cozumel.

eu3game2011-10-2612-38-17-35.jpg

And I split Cozumel up!

eu3game2011-10-2612-40-00-45.jpg

I take an innovative step and am now in a position to westernize, I am just waiting for some clever Europeans.

eu3game2011-10-2612-43-12-51.jpg

I get another conquest mission on Maya and finish them off.

eu3game2011-10-2612-43-12-51.jpg

All the meanwhile I am colonizing to the north. Here is my empire at the end of this seesion (1495):

eu3game2011-10-2612-50-29-88.jpg

Is still haven't met any Europeans, they're 3 years past schedule!

I've tried playing a native North American tribe, with no success. But, you're doing great. Keep it up.
