"What a surprise. A communist has attempted yet another coup after working so hard and spilling the blood of so many Chileans so shortly after the destruction of a previous dictatorship. It is not the will of the people to force yet more bloodshed upon the people, 'Senor' Serrano, but to participate in the wondrous democratic process. If you are too blind to see this, then I believe that Chile is not the country for you.

And should President Fuentes support this ill-fated coup, then my new-found beliefs in this President shall be null and void - for he should be a fool. I beg President Fuentes to uphold democracy as it stands in Chile.

And, for the record, I stand proudly For the Government. I believe I can say the same of my men in the Navy."

Chile has its first Comunista president ever, yet somehow we are undemocratic.

What more on earth do you want, save a complete dictatorship in which it is only you that has a say and no one else? Is a free, sovereign republic, where even those with the most radical of ideas can have those ideas heard and embraced not enough? Before and during the National Republic, the idea of a Comunista president was completely unheard of.

I will stand against this coup, and I will lay my life on the line to stop it if that is what is necessary.

The radical wing of the Communistas waves its head.

I am glad to see our candidate Palomino stand against this Coup, the first military man to do so, knowing not how the other's will follow. Truly, a Chilean politician.

I call on all members of government to stop this Coup from forming a Civil War, and arrest the dishonorable Minister of the Interior.

"I hope and pray that the communists are fully aware that they are going to bring about more unnecessary bloodshed for a cause that never has, nor never will in any country of the world, succeed[ed]. Senors Varde and Serrano, you should be glad for pushing yourselves into the position of killing another entire generation of Chileans. It is things like this that gives me reason to support Anti-Military policies."

"How surprising. The Communists win, their term ends, and they launch a coup. Gentlemen, I have one major complaint about this coup; it was too obvious."

We've played the reactionaries' game. Get votes in a corrupt party system, negotiate with politicians, pass laws to represent the people - it would be fine if the rules were followed. We went through all the hoops, got the votes, worked for reforms - and saw nothing happen. We were promised by the Constitution the ability to reform, to pass the people's will, to defend the Chilean common man and work for the betterment of our countrymen - instead, all we got were lies. A hollow "victory", fighting the good fight - warring against the fascists, building up a new government, raising our support in the crooked system to get voted into power - simply to see the government continue to only provide for the interests of politicians and their backers. When they no longer control the methods of government, they undermine those who do to make sure their own petty interests are kept - money, power, and ignorance. I will not be told to watch another generation suffer and die in poverty and unfair laws as the reactionaries and the rich watch after their own bellies.

No, we have found we must take a new route to our goals now - our "win" was simply a loss to the lies of politicians,

"So you would instead see them conscripted against their will and die on the battlefield as they look into their comrades' eyes, breathing their last breath?

And I do not recall the party system being 'corrupt' - politicians establish their policies in elections, and everyone votes. The only corrupt politicians are those the likes of you, who twist the words of all in order to bring about a new coup that will bring to death many thousands of Chileans all in the name of power for yourself. In recent years - excluding the fascist government - and of De Conti's time in Office (however short it was), we have experienced some of the most diverse cabinets and military hierarchies in the history of Chile. Even your own party leader and our very President, Senor Fuentes, placed me, an independent (on the Liberal ticket), as commander of the navy, as well as many more independents and republicans in seats of importance. You cannot call this government corrupt, Senor, while it will be more diverse and representative of the people than your attempt at one will ever be.

I call openly for all Chileans to use their minds and repulse this ugly attempt at a seizure of power by the communist radicals. We must arrest Senor Serrano and Senor Varde."

How predictable.

Everyone laughed at the grumpy fascists and the politically unactive conservatives like me. Everyone wanted us to disappear, wary of our rants about the dangers of having a communist president. I fought for a democratic coalition, won the primary and moderated the radical fascists and yet voter turnout dropped tremendously and I lost because of lack of support (I know there were enough liberales to ensure my electoral victory, yet they didn't vote for me). Now we are in this situation: The communists are siezing power. I, a powerful visionary, thought something similar would happen therefore I have been marching in the streets with my fellow Republicanos Nacionales against the Communist Government ever since the inaugurational speech. That's the reason why we've been absent in the primaries, and the reason I ask the liberales and even the FNT to march with us -not to force another dictatorship into the tired people, but to get the communistas away from the presidency- and defend democracy!

The Blackshirts and Republicanos Nacionales march in Santiago

Join us in our fight to remove the communists from power and to resume the electoral process! Let's seek President Fuentes' support, as this will probably disarm the communist movement. If not, ready the arms, to protect our freedom!

Gabriel Tottenheim

P.S: Serrano, the fascists you despise already enacted ALL social reforms.

I urge all those in the military to overthrow those generals who would seek to overthrow the government and establish a Communist Dictatorship! We cannot... will not... allow these ideologues to subjugate us! We the people must rise up against tyranny! I do not ask you simply to fight for our democratic system, I ask that you lay down your life for your natural rights given to you by GOD above! Whether you are a Liberal, Fascist, Communist, Socialist, Conservative, Monarchist, or Anarchist, whether you support free trade or tariffs, whether you support the clergy or want to see it abolished, whether you are Black or White or somewhere in between, I call upon you to join as one, united by common hatred of these TOTALITARIAN SCUM!

I shall do my part for Chile... and, as long as I breathe, Chile shall not fall to the Totalitarians... and if ever you lose heart against the coming red horde.... just look to the skies....

"Senor Tottenheim, though your paramilitary activities may be a good thing, I would prefer it if you rejoined politics. The Nacionales aren't going to win with one vote, are they? That is, unless you have any better ideas."

"I am for the coup! I was very moderate during my presidency but I can no longer stand aside and watch the corrupt Capitalists take power and oppress the masses again!

Uncharacteristic, and ultimately irrelevant. Your position as president provides nothing for the Coup.

What you have achieved, though, is losing all respect as a non-radical politician in Chilean government.

The Communist traitors are bitter that their minor majority in Congress led to nothing. Well, that just shows how only a minor majority of Chileans ever thought for a moment that a Communist President would be beneficial. Minor majorities mean nothing in politics.

I hope some of the non-radical Communists in government will see the sense in non joining this foolhardy Coup. If the Communists hope to win the next election, they need to be around to actually vote...

We're just having a bad moment with popularity. Hopefully the coming decades we will recover and we will continue to be the third political force in Chile as the Republicanos or the Nacionales/Patriotas/F.N. have always been. I unofficially support your candidacy though. I will try to do my best to save our nation and then I will resume my position in politics.

President Fuentes has shown his true colors. The chances of a peaceful resolution are very slim now, and I hope the communists realize their mistake before the fighting starts. I have always moderated my fascist allies, but I won't be able to hold them for much longer if the communistas keep behaving like this. Yesterday they tried to attack the Communist Party HQ and I was able to prevent it until we obtained President Fuentes's support. Now I really doubt I will be able to moderate my people any more, so I prefer to take up arms and defend our freedom, whether the army likes it or not. Nobody is taking my freedoms and property!

I am Commander of the Metropolitan Army, so my support does have some impact. I feel I have to support my Communista brethren, I am quite confused on what to do actually.

"I would rather not babble with incoherent hate messages from a radical communist who hates any supporters of our oh-so-"corrupt" government, but I never have been, am not, and never shall be, a Rosenoist. I am an independent on the Liberal ticket. Doesn't anybody understand that yet? And yet you radicals have the conceit to believe that your dictatorial dreams would make the country a better place than the Chile that stands before you, allowing you to exist. In a one-party state, no beliefs thrive, only those of the selfish and greedy people who rule with an iron fist. There are an innumerable number of philanthropists - Liberal, Republicano, Independent, etc. - that give to the poor, including those that work in extremely harsh living conditions. But I guess that a theory that has never yet been tested in the world, one of dictatorial and authoritarian hopes and beliefs, is better than one that is more representative than any of you could hope to achieve.

I am done arguing with those radicals who deny reality and create their own illusions. These men must be arrested and stopped before blood is shed - and if it is, there is no hope for our Chile."
