When the right plans a coup (which as far as I know, it is not, and as such any claim that it is is a lie), it is evil and only for the benefit of the bourgeoisie (despite most of us, such as myself, actively condemning the actions of greedy capitalists), yet when the left does it it is completely and entirely justified and reflects the will of the people (despite the fact that the people elected a conservative government). What an interesting double standard.

There is a lot I can say which speaks against your statement. However, I doubt that you Sir have such an extensive knowledge of this nation and the various coups which have plagued it as I do. Therefore, you are very liable to entirely miss my point and I will not waste my breath.

I hereby declare a state of emergency in the Republic. The government shall immediately relocate to the coast, and from there be evacuated by the Chilean Navy to Panama.
I fully approve all these recommendations. I charge Admiral Alvarez with transporting the Panama Garrison to Valparaiso, to unite with our mainland armies.
You heard it from the President, officers. The Chilean Navy must support the Republic by aiding in the evacuation of government political leaders and the movement of troops (and hindrance of the movement of rebel troops) to battle. Full speed ahead.

At sea, though, given our still slow naval transport, we have some time to discuss previous speeches given by some political figures.
Somehow I doubt the lack of a Chief of Staff led to Cesar Roseno's reign of terror. You'll have to excuse me if I find your statement to be the equivalent of a pound of manure from a cow.
And how many coups have we had since then? True, none of them have been successful, but we most certainly had far more stability before the Chief of Staff than now. Furthermore, how many people have died in the endless coups that have resulted from the failure of one, which was prevented due to Chief of Staff (if it was even the existence of a Chief of Staff that prevented them)? Sure, we may have preserved democracy, but how much does that mean when there's no one to enjoy that democracy?
We had more stability before a coup was shown to be a possible way to gain power, before radical politics caused lots of tensions in the Congress and Army, and before the army grew to such great sizes and needed so many (and so powerful) generals to head it. No coup has survived to have its reign of terror, though - and likely a more deadly one than the Imperialist one, due to the greater radicalization that has occurred - because a popular figure can't just appoint all the military unopposed. The coup was made successful by a President who left nobody but his co-conspirators into power (aside from one or two notable figures who defied the conspiracy).

Admiral, it pains me to see the foolish decision which you have done. You are siding with people who aim to establish a tyrannic dictatorship and also aim to abuse the democratic process to outlaw every other political party! If I fail in my mission here, you will come to regret your decision.

- General Remedio Hakkihäälenin

Admiral Alvarez, I am saddened by your decision but not surprised. You have always defended democracy. It is sad though for what you are defending now is not democracy but a sham. I will always honour you though and hope our paths do not cross in combat.

You just described what you and Rios are seeking to do.

Did I? We are not aiming to establish a tyrannic dictatorship and we do not abuse the democratic process to outlaw other parties. No, we are tearing up the old order! From the fiers will rise a new Chile! We are remaking this system from the bottom up. Do not think that what will initially be established is permanent. It will merely to serve as a transitional stage.
It is but the first step to Communism, something which can't be established by the flick of a wand. It will be a long road, but I have the confidence that we will get there!

"Yes, but it will not happen if you are in charge, Hakkihäälenin. Nor will it happen with Rios in charge, a man so monumentaly stupid that he asked me to be part of this farce."

I declare myself and the Army of Patagonia For the Republic. This is the third time in a decade that the left has attempted to seize power through force in trying to establish a tyrannical dictatorship of the poor.

What did I say? Hakkihäälenin is no true Chilean. He wants some fantasy of cooperation between all mankind, something thoroughly impossible. Socialists are even worse then the capitalists. At least some capitalists have the guts to stand for the Chilean fatherland.

We are not socialists. We are communists. And you will soon learn what that means for people like yourself.

Another leftist coup is forgotten as a mere afterthought in the textbooks of our children. I warn, though, that if we again laugh off this rampant treason by the political left, we will fall victim to their nonsensical rebellions after every election! That is precisely why the political left must be banned for the time being as soon as this little "revolution" game is over. You know, Hakkihäälenin, I just don't understand why you think this way in Finland. Are all of your Finnish socialist brothers and sisters this way?

DECLARATION OF COUP

Peoples of Chile!

For years, we have been burdened by a non-cooperative left, seeking to establish their own views instead of cooperating with democracy. Never had this been as true as today, with General Remedio seeking to directly establish a communist regime in this nation.. just some years after the Renin-Guerrero revolution and the Juarez coup attempt. Our socialist Chief of Staff has been obstructive and ambitious, and has divided the nation in the name of socialism.

Our way of life has never been as threatened as it is today. The streets are burning under men seeking to abolish property, religion and free trade. Myself, the archbishop of the nation, have a keen interest in grabing these socialists by their nut sack and exiling them from our nation.

I fear that we might have to take undemocratic measures to ensure the stability of the nation, for some years of course. We will return democracy to the people once radicalism dies out. I fear that we will have to seize control of the republic for some time, and establish a fasci... I mean a presidential dictatorship until these socialist agitators calm down. It seems like a good idea, as we have lots of supporters and unofficial collaborators. The patriotas and the republicanos would merge into the fascis.. the "state" party, and we would hold an internal election between generals and bureaucrats to choose our leader. Congress will not be abolished, but will be an organ of the bureaucracy. Supporters will be invited into the government and we will stand by our people.

This is necesary, for our nation. This was never our intention until today. The left, so scared of a right wing coup, have done everything possibly to seize power for themselves. They have pushed me, after tolerating so many attempts on our republic, to attack them. I am a supporter of democracy, and it saddens me it has come to this.

We have not forgotten our supporters, those who have standed up against the FNT and the communists. We will have them by our side.

VICTORY WITH FERNANDEZ!

After the storm calms down, everything will return to normal.

Well, actually, I will have to think upon this proposition and discuss with my fellow Patriotas. Only then will our party uniformly decide the best course of action.

Senator Alejandro Ruiz de Escovedo

I just can't trust the left. I don't want to ban political parties all together, just those two that have been attacking the republic since their creation.

And there's what I was waiting for.

I urge you all to join me in this glorious revolution and bring down the Broken Edifice!

I fear that we might have to take undemocratic measures to ensure the stability of the nation, for some years of course.

For those who were unclear on the point, Remedio Hakkihäälenin has declared a coup to create a proletarian dictatorship with himself as chairman and Archbishop Fernandez has declared a separate coup to create a transitional presidential dictatorship!

Many of you are generals or ministers and I need your declarations For the Republic, For the Proletariat!, or For the Coup! (you can rephrase that however you like as long as it's clear. Er... and in case that was unclear, For the Republic is the status quo 3rd Republic, Proletariat is Hakkihäälenin's coup, and Coup is for Fernandez's coup)

As the situation has changed, I am asking all those ministers and generals who have already voted to vote again.

Minister of the Interior - Caitan Crazzio ((cavebear3000))
Minister of the Treasury – Francisco de Santa Rosa ((Riccardo93))
Minister of Foreign Affairs - Archbishop Jaime Fernandez ((thekinguter)) - COUP
Minister of Defence – Matteo Saez ((Seek75))

Army of Patagonia ((18 brigades (10inf 6art 2cav))) – General Hidalgo ((MastahCheef))
1st Army of the Republic ((8 brigades (5inf 2art 1cav)) – Colonel de Porto ((Zagoroth))
2nd Army of the Republic ((30 brigades (17 inf 10 art 3cav)) – Remedio Hakkihäälenin ((Dyranum)) - PROLETARIAT
Metropolitan Army ((20 brigades (15 inf 3art 2cav)) – Ernesto Fernando Fuentes ((Maxwell500))
Panama Canal Garrison ((8 brigades (5inf 3art)) - Colonel Rivera ((AtomicSoda))
Navy - Admiral Alvarez ((Gloa))
Capital Guard ((12 brigades (9inf 3art))

This is our first double-coup.

It appears the Archbishop is as delusional as the current traitors. I call for the President to denounce the actions Fernandez, as what he is currently doing makes us equal to Rios and Hakkihäälenin. Do not tarnish your reputation with the people by siding with this madman El Presidente. We have no need for a Presidential Dictatorship, the people side with us and know that what you have done thus far is both legal and constitutional, as well as holding the moral high ground. Do not take that away by listening to Fernandez.

-Senator Christiano Ferarri
