Santa Rosa, your old age seems to be getting to you, since that was completely and entirely my point. You resigned with your usual pointless "we can work it out!" attitude, despite the fact that it was obvious that neither side had any intention of pointlessly compromising, and you completely failed to achieve the intended goal and essentially gave your cabinet post to one of Andonie's cronies.

As I have said before, your time came and it has left. Stop acting like you are still president of the Republic, that ship sailed long ago.

((Like it'll matter? Besides, I'm on the fence of all this CoS business as I frankly don't really have that good read on the characters campaigning for that position.))
((Yes, because I am the only anti-war COS canidate's, peace through power and all that Jazz, I want to have soldiers be payed equally to officer's, and I will make sure at least one socialista is made general.))

The reason my maneouvre didn't work was because of bull-headed radicals like yourself, all attempting to get everything all at once, when that is rarely a possible move. If one side had been willing to cooperate, many of the problems of the past five years could have been averted. Roseno would have still been at the head of the army during the Argentine invasion, Severino's coup would never have happened, Andonie's coup would have been much less likely, and the Comunistas, whom you despise, would have even less of a chance of winning.

((the post actually went to Gogolow, hardly an Andonie Crony))

((Also, TH, I changed my vote from de Conti to Alvarez, since the admiral actually seems to have a chance of winning, and Rivera should have another vote, since I've endorsed him))

Sorry. Fixed.

((TH, i noticed that you may have missed a vote for Renin by Cavebear, at page 347, just above the "1881 candidates" post))

((lol nice try ;)))

((You do realize that the CoS is a nonpartisan post, as in you should be giving Generalships to those qualified for them, not because they are of the same political ideology as you. We have already gone through this discussion on here numerous times. Besides, it's not as if these guys vote that way, else Sebastain would have been elected CoS if they did.))

((Like I said before, I want to create a more balanced military with members from each party, so we don't have situation's like this where allmost all the liberals in the military support one guy and we get coups! that and I wanted soldiers to be payed as much as officer's, my partisanship ends there.))

((We discussed that earlier in the AAR as well. It still creates too much bureacracy, and slows down the military's organization. In RL, when you have guys who hate each other working with each other, it tends to slow down the amount of work that can get done. If you have guys that are good at what they do, then their hatred towards each other doesn't create as much confusion and red tape. All you are doing by splitting the military up by political ideology is politizing the miltary, which is not what the CoS is supposed to do. Your entire campaign for the CoS is to politize the army, where as the others are acting like actual military men and trying to keep politics out of the military.))

(Besides, the sacking of Romano is what lead to this situation. The refusal for Romano to support the government in a somewhat legitimate arrest attempt, lead to that. The somewhat unfortunate arrest attempt was caused by Severino who was the victim of politics, from Andonie. Andonie and Severino were put into this situation out of fear of a Communist victory in an election.)

(I would say this situation was incredibly unique)

(Also, I find it hilarious that the army in panama supported the coup! There must be a precedent for negotiating access with foreign powers to allow the Army to come in).
((Well, how well liked are we in Brazil and Colombia [or whatever other route is possible]?))

Come on socialistas you outnumber them, come out and vote and we can take the Chief of Staff for the Worker!
I am not a member of the socialistas, so my denunciation will have less weight - but for what it is worth it is unconscionable to so blatantly politicize the position of Chief of Staff in the name of equality and to promise positions based on political party in the name of meritocracy.

People of Chile, I do not promise any political movement - conservative, liberal, socialist, etc. - anything, but to be fair and to not discriminate while running an efficient and effective Chilean military. Do not vote for a partisan chief of staff, even if in the short run you think it may strengthen your political position - is not the military of Chile more than a pawn for politics, a tool for parties to push their agenda? Haven't we gone over this time after time when the military disappoints us or encourages us in their actions during coups? Is not a military focused on protecting and defending all Chilean people better than one which is simply an unneeded extra arm for a political association?

((The only anti-war CoS? Where'd you get that idea from? I know Alvarez isn't pro-war, and at least one of the other candidates didn't sound like he wanted to start any wars either.))

((Don't you mean Roseno?))

President: Armando Renin!

Truly, the red tape and formality of the current voting system must be stopped! I am sure that a government run by Communista's would not stand for such circuitous procedures!

((sorry TH I'll do it by the books from now on. Don't mind Bautista))

((The party's are large enough that their competent commander's in each individual party, that alongside the fact that generals don't co-lead an army, they are each given a specific task and a specific role by the presidente. Also it would stop coups, or at least make it much harder, ))

Invalid because it was cast before the election started. He's also now cast an actual ballot, so I'll count that.
