Senor, if we set back the socialist movement decades back, you'll find that we're still on the same place. ho ho ho ho ho ho
We have been so close to taking the presidency if they do this a the worker's revolution will never happen peacefully in this country.

Oh? So you mean to tell me that even had we brokered the compromise for me to take Santa Rosa's position in government, you still would not have given it to me? You truly are a conman, aren't you? Making promises that work for your benefit and then never keeping up your end of the bargain. I am glad that you cannot run again, Chile deserves better than thieves and liars like you.

Your words are like the whistling of the wind in trees. Like the twittering of birds I can hear from my presidential office. Or the pleasant noise crickets make on a balmy summer day.

Just like the people's boos and demands that you resign as you stole the election and sent their sons to die over some barren patch of poor, useless Argentine soil, I'm sure.

Never one to stick to the facts are you señor. The congress voted for the war. A congress you were a member of. I tried to veto the war but was overridden by your own congress. Make up as many stories as you wish.

((Saez is not a member of the Congresso.))

You attempted to veto it, but you ordered our soldiers to go out there anyways. You could've held them back. We might've been at war, that didn't mean we had to attack them. Furthermore, the war didn't even seem like an issue to you until the very last minute.

((he was at the time, if you vote you are a member effectively))

And you wanted to be Minsiter of War, a person who having declared war on another country would then have our soldiers sitting in their barracks while a tiny Argentinian army overruns our country. Just proving once again why you are not fit for the office.

((No, plenty of people have voted without being in the Congresso.))

I never said we should let them overrun us. Now you're just making things up.

Again, I question why we let this madman win twice in a row. Surely he is a Germanista, as only a madman like him compares to Andonie's senselessness.

Furthermore, if I am not fit for office, then surely my original assertion that you handed out minister posts like a lollipop is true, as you did agree to Santa Rosa's proposal. Assuming, of course, that you would hold your end of the bargain had I agreed, although why should anyone expect you to after all the lies you've told.

I have many things I would like to say to Gogolow, betrayer of the masses... but I shall hold my tongue for the time being.

In keeping with my policy of political abstention, I do not intend to vote in these primaries.

Nonetheless, I would inquire as to the defence policies of all the prospective candidates?

- General Charles Maximilien de Conti
General de Conti, answering your question, I believe a strong military is paramount for Chile. I might believe in smaller government, but when we gain certain freedoms we must also have the planning and capacity to defend those from the remaining absolutist, totalitarian regimes that threaten liberty far and wide. I espouse Jingoism because of these views, and also because an expansion of the military must follow with the gaining clout Chile has in world politics today.

As for the social implications of my views, they are clear as water: if we have a proper military and fleet for a power of our size, we can leave the fighting to our trained and capable soldiers, who choose to defend our nation professionally, and not have to resort to the infamous draft, rushed mobilization, and putting in risk our most vulnerable members of society, the poor.

- Minister Lorenzo Subercaseaux

"Senor Andonie, I disapprove of you calling me a reactionary. That word can only be used to describe people such as Cesar Roseno and Angelo Araya. I am not a reactionary. I am something different, but I can't think of a good name for it. I do combine socialism with nationalism, if that's any help."

Severiano Miramontes

It's hard to find a good name for these sorts of things...I've been studying Rome recently. You know that the fasces stood for strength, authority, and unity, yes? Perhaps something like that.

((So, some sort of fascist?))

((for the purposes of the game you are if you vote. The bills are put before congress, ie anyone who votes for anything related to a bill or event is for game purposes a member of congress. Thats why the President can veto unless 2/3 against, he is vetoing the bill put before the congress.))

This isn't true, rudders. Lots of people play as characters not in the Congress. Its assumed that their supporters in the Congreso vote on their behalf.
