People of Chile, hear me!

I stand before you as an oppressed citizen of Chile, merely fulfilling his duty by throwing out the corrupt and flawed Republic that the military dictator Santa Rosa installed! I executed Carrow because he was a foul turncoat who deserved to be hung yet would not be under the illegitimate legal system Santa Rosa put in place. I did what the law could not!

I beg of you, Chilean citizens, stand with me! Stand against this tyranny that should never have been! If I succeed, I promise that no man, woman, or child will be persecuted for his race, religion, or ideology! Socialistas, Radicales and Republicanos will peacefully coexist in a Chile where democracy and justice are absolute! Every man will be entitled to the sweat on his brow, and it will not be stolen from him by government thugs!

Por la razón o la fuerza! Chile para los Chilenos!

((I'm, uh...really unprepared for this.

Please don't beat the crap out of me too much :())

Reform: All Unions Allowed/Secret Ballots
Military Supply Bill: Abstain

((Lulz at Zepeda supporting yet another coup.))

I warned you all what would happen if the current hateful attitude between the various factions of Chile were to persist! The lack of effort to address this is what has lead us to this predicament. I say unto both sides: violence will solve nothing. It will only lead us to ruin. Why the President has chosen to support this attempt to destroy Chile as we know it is beyond me. I second the proposal of a vote of no confidence against the President.

((lordvagrant, how are you a General now? You were jut a Colonel, and no one has given you an army to command.))

((how does anyone become a senator, mayor, or any other position? I could have named my character as a general when I created him, other people have been generals that way. However, I do have an army - the Quartermaster's corps, but no actual fighting soldiers.))

(I suppose I am just a masochist ;-). Honestly, I only support when my fellow Liberales do.)

(Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? No says the man in... Santiago...),

I pledge in favor of the Revolution, The government is not a tool to murder those who desire a voice in our serene democracy. We need freedom, for Chile, for the masses begging for representation in a society still so far away from egalitarianism. German has my voice of confidence to provide all Chileans the freedom they need, from oppression that is sure to come as this 3rd Republic becomes split by partisanship. Rise the citizens of Chile, rise to reclaim the land of your fathers and mothers, the land that provides the bread on our tables, and the land which we must win to deserve.

Chile para los Chilenos!

((And here comes Badajoz too! Fun. :D))

(whatever, you damn rebel ;-))

two brigades of artillery (one in Bolivia and one in Patagonia) defected to join the citizen guard - they were subsequently surrounded and captured by the larger armies under Roseno and Araya, respectively
((aren't we the greatest?))

reform: secret ballots
Military supply bill: Yes

((What is happening to this world when the president doesn't back the government))

((Badajoz, remember? ;)

Although I don't think you were actually here back then, so...))

((And Cesar!

Also, I'm predicting that we'll have a lot of A-L revolutions as per how V-2 tends to become in the late game.))

((What is happening to this world when the president doesn't back the government))
((Well...

*1846, First Blood - President Badajoz, although reluctant at first, endorses the coup.

1854, Equal and Opposite Reaction - Reactionary rebels rise up without real political support (read: in-game rebels, and reactionaries weren't too strong at the time in the Congress). President Romano and basically everyone else is against the rebellion.

*1856, Power, Unlimited Power - Newly elected President Roseno cements his rise to power with a very carefully plotted coup.

1861, Return of the Republicanos - There's no president to support it, and the emperor and prime minister are dead set against it, but Prince Roseno supported it.

*1873, the Citizen Guard Attacks - well, you know the story now

So we have more president endorsed coup's than not - just in case you had mistaken us for a functional civilian democracy or something. Also, there's a suspicious pattern of alternating support. :p))

A pamphlet written by colonel Weissmüller to the Congresso during his trip to rendezvous with Sebastian Roseno and the Bolivian army:

A Call to Defend Democracy

The German uprising is a direct threat to Chilean values and the freedom of the Chilean people. Don't be tricked by their language. They are a dangerous group of terroristas with no legitimacy. They claim to come to end the partisan bickering of our Republic, and wouldn't we all want to see that? However is that democracy? Is power being limited to a small group freedom? NO! And remember who else claimed to act to end partisan infighting? Cesar Roseno! and he ended up a Tyrant! No, take arms and join with the lawful military of Chile against the Terroristas and Bandidos. Fight the liars coming to end our Republic and our Freedom! Take arms Chile against German and the traitors. Remember Cesar Roseno and his terror, and take arms to make sure history won't repeat itself.

"This is the treachery of the Radicles. While corporations shun the worker, and fight against the average worker, sending corporate thugs against our strikers, now the Libertarians have plotted against the government! They would have it so that every man is to his own, that every capitalist is free to abuse whoever he see's fit! I won't have it! The Presidente must be brought down! I hope you now see what bringing this man to power has done for the workers, and for every citizen of Chile! He has turned on the very citizens that elected him! I urge the FNT to resist this coup through peaceful measures! This is a call to all workers in Anarchist territory, to strike! This is a call to all students in Anarchist territory, to sit in! This is a call to all Anarchist conscripts, to resist!"

-Senator Carlos Carnal

This "abuse" that Senor Carnal speaks of is highly fictional, and where it does happen, we will prosecute the men responsible for such abuse and throw them in prison. Besides, what would you call for? Government regulation, so that those people who commit such abuse can simply enlist the government to aid them? Socialism was a failure before it even began. It calls for the anti-thesis of fairness to intervene in the name of fairness, and anyone who subscribes to such thought is a fool for believing that government regulation can solve all the world's ills. Next thing you know, these Marxists will be calling for the repeal of the laws of gravity!
