Minister of Economic Development supports entrepeneurs and private enterprises. He supports little businessmen so that they can start new companies (support capitalists)

I thank you for your trust in my work, Señor Presidente. It is a new era, and steps will be taken to bring Chile a leadership position in our beloved Latin America, uniting the peoples under the safety of free trade and progress, in OTLA!

- Lorenzo Subercaseaux

My policies stand, except for atheism who gets replaced by secularism. Unless Cortez wants to propose his own religious policy.

It will be hard to adjust to a desk job again. I had a really good time in the Army of Bolivia, and I will miss them all. However duty call me back to the capital, and I will do everything in my power to strengthen Chile as Minister of War.

Colonel Augusto Weissmüller

By policies I meant what you intend to do during your presidency, not your formal positions on the stock issues.

(( It will be interesting to see the military appointments made by the Chief of Staff; and isn't there a veto power on both the President's picks by the Chief and the Chief's picks by the president?

I also wouldn't be surprised if the FNT leadership is having behind the scenes PM discussions about which candidates would be best for military positions and which Radicales or Radicale supporting Republicanos they will non-negotiably veto if selected by the President. ))

((Another interesting touch is that the Radicales started out from the crowd that shouted that everyone holding a position in the Imperial Regime should be hanged, and now they have a former Imperial Security Minister as Minister of War (who is the grandson of a certain person they probably still hate a lot) xd).

I've got some words for the generals I appointed:

Sebastian Roseno: You have fought valiently and defended our borders from the Brazilian guerrillas. You stood up for Chile and guarded our borders and Bolivia's too while avoiding a major armed conflict. You saved many lives, so I encomend you to continue your great task.

Alvarez: You stood up in the civil war with no more than a ship, and caused fear in the hearts of our enemies, preventing the escape of many of them. Some may have escaped your grasp, but it was not your fault for the Chilean navy was far too primitive back then. We still are working to modernize our navy, but we'll never forget your deeds as the real pioneer of the Chilean navy. For that, I propose we call our Naval Academy "Academia Naval Almirante Alvarez", for a man who made the impossible with little resources.

Carlos Andonie: While not a military man, you are a great leader and I trust on you. You have earned my trust and that is why you deserve the honor of leading the biggest army in Chile, the North Army. I used to lead this army, composed of veterans who fought under the imperialist flag against Bolivia, and now under the republican flag. It is a great honor and I couldn't have trusted it on just anyone. I hope you make us proud.

Thank you for all your effords!

-President Zepeda

Sphere Colombia, Panama and Venezuela. Try to lessen american influence in Mexico, or increase our own there. Ask for Military access in UPCA, move our ship there to scout Cuba (to see how many troops Spain has gathered there).

Change the National focus to encourage capitalists in Santiago, lower rich tax. Raise education budget. Try to buy what we need for building ships.

Improve relations with the United Kingdom.

Ally those who are in our Sphere of Influence.

As much I disgust having such a wrongdoer in my cabinet, I am forced to do so. Such is the way of politics, since I got to an agreement with Cortez so that I could get elected in the first place. It is a direct provocation that he chose HIM out of every other single person in the country, but I can't disagree since I have no say in the matter. Cortez is a war hero, who tipped the balance in our favour in the civil war and made the impossible: outmaneuver the imperialistas. Now because of his efforts, we live in a democracy. I admire him, period. Now, his views scare me, but I had to reach an agreement so that the country doesn't fall apart in a three-way civil war.

If it were for me, I would've executed the imperialists. I said it aloud before, now I keep those comments to myself, but that doesn't mean I changed my mind. However, the matter is not up to me, and I must tolerate these men because we live in a democracy.

I'm starting to believe he doesn't like anyone much. :p

"I have an idea. Why don't we merge the Army of the North and the Army of Bolivia, considering they cover what essentially the same area, especially since they have the Bolivian Army as support?"

Anselmo Galante

((You know, the Generals can't be appointed without the consent of the CoS, so that ain't set in stone.))

Now this is a most peculiar appointment made by Zepeda. Why have you appointed a politician (Carlos Andonie) to lead an army? He is not fit to command and army since he is not a professional.
I urge the CoS to disprove this blatant attempt of filling the military with individuals of the same ideology as those elected.

- Sérgio Gogołów

Pure suggestions out of goodwill, señor Gogolow. You should know I have the option to hand over suggestions to the Chief of Staff.

Filling the military with individuals of my same ideology? Did you know that the only other cabinet member, let alone the military, who shares my ideology is foreign affairs minister Lorenzo Subercasseaux? Carlos Andonie is only remotely similar to my ideology, and all the other suggestions I handled are hard conservatives.

Please do not take your time to pollute my public image. I have learned that politicians like you have no sense of honor or education.

"I am not entirely certain you should insult us for being politicians when you are also a politician. If you were insluting us because we support the common people, then I could understand you. But you are insulting us for having the same occupation as you, and that I cannot stand. Gogołów's point about Adonie not being a military officier still stands, though. I therefore ask Senor Vargas to veto this appointment, and replace him with a soldier, not a career politician. Politicians should politicise, while commanders should command."

((Messages inside these double-parenthesis brackets are OOC and should not be responded to with IC comments, gorrammit!))

And there you go with irrelevant attacks on my person. Might I remind you that I can both spell and read, signifying that I - contrary to your statement - do in fact have an education.
Also, I also question you questioning my sense of "honour". Honour is a relative concept, and I feel you lack certain aspects of it. It may be so that I have my faults as well, but that is what makes us human.

Now, leaving your irrelevant attack on my person behind, I am questioning your appointment of a politician to lead an army. It is a grave folly which will cost those men which he have been appointed to lead. Lives which could be saved with an actual general.

- Sérgio Gogołów

((I agree with Zepeda on economic issues, but on foreign policy, I'm an owl (not a dove or a hawk, but generally peaceful and opposed to entangling ourselves overseas), more moderate on my religious views. I also tend to moderate myself to gain more support for my core goals (laissez-faire)))

President-elect Zepeda has every right, and an obligation, to make suggestions for the military; the Chief of Staff cannot appoint generals on his own and needs consent from the president.

Senor Zepeda is also right in his assessment of his cabinet; similar to mine, it is a mixture of several ideologies; Cortez and Weismueller being staunch conservatives, liberal Republicanos such as myself and Aragon, and Radicale Subercasseaux. His appointments also are quite diverse, with Alvarez being a moderate conservative, and Andonie and Roseno both being conservative.

I also agree with Senor Gogolow that an attack on his education was unwarranted; most of these socialists are quite educated and intelligent; they are simply misguided.

I would like to point out the Presidential prerogative in making suggestions to the generalships has been exercised without any sort of irregularity, so discussing the worthiness or unworthiness of such suggestions is a moot point. And sure, it comes as a surprise seeing Andonie appointed for such task, but through the history of our Republic, we have witnessed many politicians taking up military ranks and doing a great job protecting Chile, such as the distinct Santa Rosa, a businessman by profession! Therefore I plea for a chance to be offered to Andonie; not even the argument of political gambling applies, since, as has been said, I'm actually the only Radical member of Cabinet right now.

- Lorenzo Subercaseaux

"I do not like the idea of a military dominated by capitalists as much as any one else...but in truth, It makes little difference unless we go to war. I urge Comrade Vargas to appoint benevolent Generals, who keep the well being of the soldier above political ambitions. I as well urge him to block any attempts made by the current ministers and Presidente to indoctrinate their ideology into the armed forces. A military to serve the people, not the government."

-Senator Carlos Carnal

((Ok, wanted to make an insult a XIXth century liberal would make on a XIXth century socialist. It didn't work out, sorry.))

I have a right to make suggestions for the army positions. And Mr. Santa Rosa, it is for your love of laissez faire that I chose you for the Ministry of Treasury. I want to remind everyone that my uncle General Zepeda was a politician at first, but became a war hero and practically won a war by his tactics.
